Rostisserie chickens good deal but buy beware - inconsistent quality

This is just for one aspect, rating their rotisserie 5 buck chicken which is a very generous deal and quite tasty most of the time. I brought it home right away, kept it hot in a cardboard covered box. Ate it mostly hot, but the next day I had pretty bad loose bowels and nothing else would have caused it, I had not been getting them, but it was bad the next day. Plus, it was overcooked and cooked too hot on some parts like the chicken wings that were black charcoal, but had not een cooked long enough or all the way through, maybe it was not defrosted enough. So, I surmised that they cooked it too hot for too short a time because underneath the bird it looked reddish pink like a small amount of blood was still in it. You would think they could get it right being such a huge corporation with such a good reputation. The next day when I reheated it I made sure it was hot enough for long enough to kill all microbes and did not have a recurrence Mon. or Tues. nights I ate it and no problem the next day. For people on the go this is bad news for them if they can't reheat it and might get loose bowels. Some bacteria are not dangerous enough to cause bad food poisoning like salmonella or listeria but still can cause bowel issues, but what if it did have salmonella then they would not have killed it, so this is a huge red flag.

Dear Costco Customer Service Team,

Dear Costco Customer Service Team,I am writing to share a recent experience at one of your warehouse locations that left me feeling embarrassed and disappointed.I visited the store with my dogs, believing they qualified to accompany me. At the entrance, the gentleman working at the door immediately stated, “I could tell they were not service animals,” and informed us that they could not enter. He never asked any questions about the animals, did not ask whether we had any documentation, and did not attempt to explain Costco’s policy or the difference between ADA-recognized service animals and Emotional Support Animals. Instead of calmly acknowledging that there is a specific policy and explaining what it requires, he was dismissive and rude in how he handled the situation. After leaving the store, I researched Costco’s policy and now understand that only ADA-recognized service animals are permitted, and that Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) do not qualify under ADA guidelines. I acknowledge that this was my misunderstanding, and I respect Costco’s right to enforce its policy. However, my concern is not about the policy itself — it is about how the situation was handled. The explanation was not delivered with professionalism or courtesy, and no effort was made to respectfully educate us on the policy. Had the situation been handled with basic customer service skills and clear communication, it would have felt very different. We have shopped at Costco many times before without issue and value being customers. This experience was surprising and discouraging. I hope this feedback can be used as a training opportunity to ensure that policies are communicated clearly and respectfully in the future.Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I would appreciate a response regarding how this will be addressed.Sincerely,[John b][112014388106]

Made my kid cry!

1 star! I was checking out and my kid and her friends wanted some water so I let them get some water. They went up to the person working at the place to order food and asked for a cup of water. She asked if they could lemonade and the worker said yes. The CEO was working and got mad and yelled at them saying they couldn't do that. I saw all of this she came back crying..... I feel so bad. - ;( (This happened in Bettendorf, IA Costco)

Cheerful Staff and Fun Adventure

I love Costco - even though I only buy for two, there are many things that I purchase regularly. It's an adventure each time - I go with a shopping pal and we have fun searching for deals and unusal items. Recently I've asked a number of associates what they think of working at Costco and they are happy! It shows in their pleasantness. Another fun thing, I recently came across the "Kirkland King" videos - these are hysterical and accurately sum up the fun Costco experience.I give 4 stars because, of course, price matters - I wish that the coffee was on sale more often.

Visa Monopoly

Visa MonopolyThey gladly let me pay for myMembership with my Mastercard. But when I went to HEARING a gray haired Karen took an imperious attitude as though she needed me to reassure her upfront that I would wear the hearing aids if she spent her precious time fitting me for them. Like kindergarten. Then she said they wouldn’t take insurance even though all Medicare Advantage Plans cover up to $1200. PIAThen I went to buy a new Apple Mac Air and stood like an alcoholic in a long lineonly to find at the register that as a policy they would only take Visa or cash. What BS. No wonder they scale at 1.8.

Ist time visit to Costco wanted to know…

Ist time visit to Costco wanted to know what the hype was all about regarding the hotdogs. Placed order waited patiently to be called. The staff member turned around to hand me my food and she had a massive stream of saliva running down her chin past the mid point of her chest. I turned around and walked off minus the food.

The big- box shops are to be Vegan commercialand family- pack adoption is missing

The big- box shops are to be seen in the context of Antitrust depricing. Defense occurs not by enemy gov- ID and Marine/ Navy / Army / police foreign - created Racketeering terror ( I am why Annapolis is called Annapolis) but by decentralized civilian all- settings suicide pharma without monopoly Md / RX and constitutional humanitarian carry— Trump as a hostage prisoner misdiagnosed so as to false- arrest a non- gov Sitting President by illegal government black opponent using police badge and illegal Jd monopoly. So when we have Antitrust - problematic products, where wholesale exists bulk government purchasers and unenumerated university purchasers, so too exists a very pointed opportunity for the momentum of that Costco pricing to effect US - interests. In this case, Plant- based replacement of meat and dairy. I won the Nobel in Econ Sci such that the US ended and may be saved. Any contentious pricing ( family pack commercial restaurant sales packaging) needs to be vegan only. We need to see vegan cheese vegan meats rolled out by Costco. Beyond Meat, vegan pizzas, vegan yogurt, investment in defense- critical humanitarian animal cull and pain products trainings in farm and grocery, all settings animal and human for defense application. Costco and it’s kind need to be vegan only and pricing to create adoption for our plant- based earth goals. —vegan cheese and dairy cream, pressure formulation to taste exact in gourmet European producers — vegan meats, carving cut size, all meats and fish shellfish to be replaced and exact in taste raw and cookedThank you for your US- interest- assistance

Worst Valentine's Day 2026

"On Valentine's Day 2026, Costco completely ruined our evening. They were supposed to install a dishwasher, and instead, the contractor they hired walked in, took the empty box to his truck, left the actual dishwasher blocking our kitchen doorway, and walked off without saying a word. He then lied to Costco, claiming we were rude and that there were plumbing issues—but we had it all on camera. When we called the store to complain, the customer service rep refused to let us speak to a supervisor seven times and kept making excuses for the installer. When we finally got through, we were told there was 'nothing they could do because it was Valentine’s Day.' So, because of their poor hiring and complete lack of accountability, our romantic evening was ruined by a dishwasher sitting in our kitchen. This was the worst Valentine’s Day in our 29 years of marriage, and it was entirely due to Costco. Apparently, the customer is only right if they have video proof. Don’t trust this company—they hire poor help and don’t stand by their service."

I will NEVER use a Costco

I will NEVER use a Costco. During the pandemic they were the RUDEST company i have ever encountered. Yelling at people to put their mask up over their mouth! And not in a nice or considerate way!!! Their cashiers can be rude also…not a nice company at all..,i know my two cents doesn’t matter, but we have a large family and have all decided not to use and stay with our SAM’S. Have fun with one of the worst companies EVER. I will not tolerate RUDENESS WHEN spending my $$$

Costco does not honor warranty even when extended warranty was purchased.

I bought a Hisense 65" TV and the main HDMI port with eARC stopped transmitting sound and will no longer control my receiver. I called to submit for warranty and spent hours on the phone between Costco and Hisense only for them to refuse support. They will just come up with excuses to reject the warranty. They first told me to use an optical cable for the sound as the "fix." That is not a fix as it provides lower quality sound and does not actually fix anything. The HDMI port is still bad and does not work as it should. When I said that, they then rejected warranty because they said that they don't recommend the use of an audio receiver. What?? I have never heard something so ridiculous. That is precisely what a receiver is for and has no bearing on this TV or how it works or doesn't work. What a piece of crap company. I now have a $1000 piece of garbage in my living room. They also said that the built in speakers work so there is no reason for repair. Never mind that one of the ports no longer works. I will never again purchase anything of this brand or anything from Costco after learning how they are the hard way. DO NOT EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING OF THIS BRAND OR YOU, TOO, WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY. And Costco will not stand behing their product. Costco doubles the manufacturer warranty and I also bought an extended warranty. But what good is that when they reject the needed repair? I wasted my money on the TV and the extended warranty. By the way, I searched forums and this loss of sound is way too common of any issue and Hisense is aware of it. I had already purchased the TV when finding this issue. What a garbage company with garbage employees. Their Rep was rude, I could hardly understand him, and he didn't know anything about audio/videos systems. Buyer beware! I expected better from Costco.

Costco Can't Count To Two?

I placed a nearly $400 TWO-DAY order. I timed it for what COSTCO will DENY is the allotted time. Why? Because my husband uses a walker and I had an appointment for a needle in my spine that prohibits me from lifting for 24 hours. I got a text at dinner time on YESTERDAY advising me my order would be delivered the day of my procedure. I quickly called and explained why I had to cancel and the man I spoke with Vee - assured me ON A RECORDED LINE that he was keeping me on HOLD FOR 15 MINUTES (approx.) and canceling and did cancel my order (I have a screenshot to prove this!) And guess what was delivered on my front porch FOR THE WORLD TO SEE AND/OR STEAL. I have the photos of the haphazard, broken-boxed order.

Good online shopping and fairly fast shipping, but needs order-edit window and lower free-shipping minimum

I like Costco overall, especially being able to buy so many things online in one place. Shipping is usually reasonably fast and reliable, though it’s typically counted in business days only.My biggest improvement request: Costco should allow customers to edit an order for a short window after purchase (change quantity, swap an item, fix details) before it’s packaged and shipped. A brief grace period would prevent needless cancellations and returns and would feel more modern. Also, some items I expect to find aren’t available online, which can be frustrating given how strong the rest of the selection is.Finally, the minimum order for free shipping should be lowered — dropping it from $75 to $50 or less would make online ordering more convenient and would likely increase repeat purchases for smaller carts.

I honestly love Costco!

I honestly love Costco. I am there at least every two weeks, if not every week. We buy at least half of our groceries there. There are some incredible deals, some not-so-incredible, but overall the membership is worth it. The employees are kind and hard-working, and everyone goes above and beyond.

MY EXPECTATIONS BLOWN COMPLETELY OUT OF THE WATER

I ordered a couch from Costco online after seeing it in the store (because I could get delivery and installation). We are still working on our new home and have painters who still have tasks to do in the room where our furniture was being placed. When the delivery drivers arrived (on-time by the way) .. I asked the drivers to stack the furniture in the center of the room, and we would take care of it from there. They did just that, and I was very pleased. I was amazed and floored when someone from Costco Logistics called me 30 minutes later to check and make sure everything met my expectations. The caller acknowledged that I had asked them not put the furniture together - and then offered to have them come back at any time within the next 30 days to put it together for me and haul the rest of the packing materials away. That is a service I never expected and was absolutely amazed by. Costco absolutely floored me that they offered this. I have never had a delivery so smoothly that exceeded my expectations to this degree!

Costco vs. Sam’s Club: Is a Costco Membership Still Worth It?

For years, Costco has enjoyed a reputation as the gold standard of warehouse shopping. But for shoppers who belong to both Costco and Sam’s Club, the comparison isn’t as one sided as it once seemed. Looking closely at membership costs, perks, pricing, and overall convenience, Sam’s Club increasingly makes a compelling case—especially for value focused shoppers.________________________________________Membership Pricing & DiscountsCostco• Standard: $65• Executive: $130• Limited promotional discounts• Cashback only for Executive membersSam’s Club• Standard: $50• Plus: $128• Frequent $10 first time memberships• Half price deals for teachers and first responders• 2% cashback for all membersSam’s Club simply offers more flexible and generous entry points, making it easier to justify the cost—especially for new members or those eligible for special discounts.________________________________________Return PoliciesCostco is known for its “generous” return policy, but in practice, returns can be scrutinized, and customers who return too frequently may face pushback.Sam’s Club, on the other hand, tends to honor its refund policy with fewer hurdles. The terms are clear, and there’s less ambiguity about what will or won’t be accepted.________________________________________Pricing & Product ComparisonsBoth stores often carry products from the same manufacturers, but Sam’s Club frequently edges out Costco on price. A simple example:• Sam’s Club: 30 cupcakes for $15.99• Costco: 12 cupcakes for $8.99Costco does occasionally win on certain items, but Sam’s Club tends to offer more consistent savings across categories.________________________________________Payment Options & Business PurchasesCostco• Accepts only Visa in-store• Charges sales tax upfront for online business purchases, requiring a refund request with documentation that takes up to 90 days to receive. Sam’s Club• Accepts a wide range of credit cards• Automatically deducts sales tax for qualifying business purchases (very convenient) For business owners, Sam’s Club is simply easier to work with.________________________________________Shopping Experience & ConvenienceSam’s Club Advantages• Scan-and-Go app• Curbside pickup• Wider selection of name-brand products• More polished store ambianceCostco Advantages• Stronger meat and seafood departments• High-quality Kirkland Signature productsSam’s Club leans into convenience and technology, while Costco sticks to a more traditional warehouse feel.________________________________________Gas Rewards• Sam’s Club: Up to 5%• Costco: Up to 4%Another small but meaningful edge for Sam’s Club.________________________________________Final VerdictCostco still shines in certain areas—particularly meat, seafood, and the reliability of Kirkland Signature products. But when you weigh membership cost, promotional offers, payment flexibility, convenience features, and overall pricing, Sam’s Club increasingly delivers greater value for many shoppers. For teachers, first responders, new members, or anyone who prioritizes convenience and lower prices, Sam’s Club may be the smarter choice. Costco remains a strong competitor, but the gap between the two has narrowed—and in many categories, Sam’s Club pulls ahead.
