Was sold an inaccessible hotel
Always. Book. Directly. Was sold a hotel room with no handicap access. I booked through the website and was unfortunately mislead at several opportunities. With all that said, I probably should have called the hotel, which is on me. But if you're booking through Expedia, please make sure you are traveling safely. Thank you

DO NOT USE EXPEDIA
I was booking a stay in San Pedro, Dominican Republic, at Emotions by Hodelpa – Juan Dolio. Initially, I searched on Booking.com, as I have used their services many times before. I then decided to check whether I could find a better deal and found that Expedia was slightly cheaper, so I chose to book through Expedia.During the checkout process, there was an issue with the reservation date. Instead of booking February 25th, the system generated a reservation for March 1st. This was not the date I intended to select. At first, I did not believe it would be a problem to correct such a simple error. However, when I contacted Expedia, they insisted that I would have to honor the March 1st date and stated that they could not make any changes. To make matters worse, the March 1st reservation was later canceled without any refund being issued. I was not offered any reasonable solution or accommodation.I have consistently used Booking.com in the past, where payment is typically made at the hotel and cancellations are often fully refundable. Therefore, I was not aware that Expedia would enforce such rigid policies in a situation involving an obvious date error. This experience has been extremely disappointing and raises serious concerns regarding fairness and customer service practices.

Cruel Refund Policy
I cancelled a 1,200 USD reservation for a Mexico City Hotel. Two minutes later I contacted Expedia to reverse the mistake which they would not do. The hotel in Mexico City would also not honor thei mistake. This is terrible customer service.

Very Poor Costumer Service. No refunds on same day hotel check inn.
Booked hotel room by mistake. Expedia allowed cancellation until 3 days before arrival. At check inn day, discovered the mistake. Neither the hotel nor Expedia allowed cancellation. Tried reaching Expedia costumer service (only allowed by chat), and seems that AI was giving me the rounds and after a while said it was filling to disconnect because of Latin communication from my side, while it was indicating me all the time , AI was waiting from response from the hotel . . . Very poor costumer service indeed!

BE AWARE!
BE AWARE!! I booked and paid for a hotel stay in Madrid, Spain. The final price, including taxes, that I received was in Euros and was charged to my Amex card. Once the exchange rate was calculated, I noticed that I was charged 29% more than what I should have been charged. After calling the hotel and Amex, Amex reimbursed me the difference. Later, I received an email from Expedia threatening me to pay the difference, or they would cancel my reservation (Which is not refundable if cancelled). At the end, I had no option but to pay it, or I would lose the whole amount.

Dar Saad in morroco
Dar Saad was gross. Unclean and unsafe. They tried to refund me 25$. Expedia knew about this nasty place and they allowed them to falsely advertise that gross place. Pictures did not match the online reality.

AVOID USING EXPEDIA!!!!!!
AVOID USING EXPEDIA!!!!!!! I am a 67 year old man. I live off Social Security. I had a trip booked to Thailand. My first vacation in 13 years. Then the blizzard hit on February 22, 2026. The entire city of Boston was buried in 2 feet of snow. Everything was closed. Flights were not allowed in Logan Airport for several days. I was afraid to drive in the snow to go into the airport for my flight on the 25th Feb. I was forced to cancel. Expedia then refuses to reschedule my flight, refuses to issue any type of credit for my Boston to Bangkok flight. I would NOT recommend Expedia to anyone unless you do not mind losing a lot of money if an emergency situation comes up .

and now for the latest update in this…
and now for the latest update in this failure to fulfill the agreement.Apparently as others have not had a problem booking this correctly, therefore I must be wrong.See expedia's and my reply: - My email: - Explain then how, I have selected a 2 bedroom suite, the dates and the flights which are costs and yet somehow the other selection being All Inclusive isn't what selected.Exedia reply: -Further to the below case, please note that we have shared the resolution to the case as per the findings. I have reviewed the records, and other travelers confirming the same reservation didn't encounter any such issues. Also, as informed earlier, while confirming the reservation you didn't opt for an All-Inclusive option. Please consider this as final response to the case. Thanks for your time and patience. My reply: -Just because other travellers never encountered this problem doesn't mean this never happened to me.This is fundamentally a transmission error between your website and the hotel that has taken monies from me unlawfully as this is a breach of contract as you have sold me something that is not being fulfilled. You have a responsibility to fulfill the contract as per my order and my order is very clear. If you are unable to satisfy (due to a transmission error on your end) then you have some options available to you;-Fully refund me for the whole package not as the 2 component parts that you have transacted the payment as and therefore only return the hotel element, without financial penalty to me.Find me an alternative hotel that fits the dates and location I am currently booked for that is in line with the criteria I have currently booked under.Remedy the gap between the disparity of what has been booked v's transmitted.

EXPEDIA SUCKS
I am extremely disappointed with Expedia. With everything going on in Mexico and the travel chaos surrounding it, I expected at least some level of understanding or flexibility. Instead, I got absolutely no help. They refused to assist with a credit refund and offered zero meaningful support for a flight change. No accommodation, no solutions, no effort — just scripted responses and being passed around in circles. When customers are dealing with uncertainty and safety concerns, this is when a travel company should step up. Expedia did the opposite.I will not be using their service again. If something goes wrong with your trip, don’t expect them to have your back.

DON’T DO IT!
actually, “0” stars. If you book with this company, you will not get a refund or credit for any changes or future trips. Customer service is AWFUL!!! (I waited 1.5 hours for a response and they hung up on me). Just book directly with the hotel and airlines so that you are assured you can at least get credit for a future trip or refund. JUST SAY ‘NO!!!!!;

Expedia are Criminals
I had an extremely distressing experience with Expedia and would strongly caution others before booking through them.Due to a death in my family, I needed to change a flight. The airline had confirmed that the change fee would be waived under their bereavement policy. Despite this, Expedia overcharged me for the modification.Additionally, even though I clearly provided the correct passenger name in writing and have email confirmation of this, Expedia changed the wrong booking. Correcting their error became an exhausting process involving approximately seven hours on hold across multiple calls (3 hours, then 2.5 hours, and another 2 hours). After escalating the issue, I was informed that they could not locate the recorded phone call during which the flight was changed. Because of this, they stated they would not take further action or assume responsibility. The combination of being overcharged, having the wrong booking altered despite written documentation, and receiving no resolution after hours of waiting has been deeply frustrating, especially during an already difficult personal situation. They are criminals and I will pursue legal action. Book via the airline- Trust me!

Absolutely terrible experience
Absolutely terrible experience. Coming from a college student who had to recently abruptly cancel their Mexico trip due to poor conditions, I would never book a flight through expedia again. We have been through hell and back trying to get them to abide by the proper flight credit transferration policy and they have been nothing but difficult and we have been told different things by every single employee. Genuinely would never book through them again- all they want is money and they're genuinely willing to lie to you to do so.

Extortion and contract breach
Case #26307017 - Extortion and Contract BreachExpedia’s technical error allowed their partner, Zoom Rent-a-Car, to refuse my reservation and extort me for redundant insurance and fees under duress. Despite contacting Agent FADOU immediately, Expedia failed to intervene. Their Resolution Team Robin Lamba is now dismissive of this financial extortion. I am reporting this to the BBB and Florida Authorities. Unacceptable service.

Watch out for third party add-ons
I booked a room for one night. Expedia added trip protection to my itinerary without my knowledge regarding trip policy. The initial booking does not reflect insurance Expedia sneaks the trip insurance in after you book your room. Its never discussed or shows up until you get your receipt and charged on your card. If you miss it noticing it after 15 days you can't cancel the insurance. This is fraud and I will never ever use Expedia. In addition to that issue. After I booked my room and was scrolling their site, I found the same room at a lesser price. They wouldn't give me a credit for the difference. WATCH OUT USING EXPEDIA.

Everything that could go wrong did
Everything that could go wrong did. I booked a return flight to Miami for a friend's wedding. I also booked the hotel. I was meant to fly there on Friday to be there for the start of festivities and return on the following Monday morning. My Friday flight was delayed / cancelled. It was the Presidents' Day weekend, so there were no other flights at less than three times the price. I was offered a refund (which was not going to work - I had flown to the US for the wedding). Eventually, someone booked me onto a flight on Saturday night - so I missed two thirds of the event. When I got to my hotel in Miami around midnight on Sunday, I was told that my reservation had been cancelled because I did not arrive on time. There were no rooms available. No apologies. I was turned onto the street. I walked the streets of Miami Beach for several hours trying to find a hotel to no avail. Everything was booked (though on Expedia, they were still taking bookings). FYI, the cops arrest you in Miami for loitering, so I needed to keep walking until I could find a friend who was awake and go to their hotel. I did not sleep at all that night. I then tried to check in for my return flight and found that Expedia had not paid the airline, so there was no reservation. They had quoted me an amount for both flights, but it turns out that was only for one leg. So I had to buy another flight, at exorbitant last-minute prices. I spent hours before the wedding, when I should have been spending time with my friends, on a chat line with people at Expedia who, while polite, were totally unable to help and who repeatedly encouraged me to try things which they knew, and which I had told them several times, were not possible. Never again. Really. I cannot advise strongly enough to avoid Expedia. Wish I could give less than 1 star.

Aiding and abetting known scammers
Terrible experience with Expedia. I rented a car in Orlando from SurPrice through Amex Travel, which is run by Expedia. Prepaid the full price. The day before rental verified with representative that there will be no additional charges. The link to the rental company on Expedia website was broken.Soon arrival to the rental counter was told that I would have to pay $450 over the original prepaid amount or I would not get a car. Tried to call Expedia and, what a surprise, their phone was down. Contacting Expedia later did not get me anywhere either I left and rented from Avis.

I booked a round trip flight
I booked a round trip flight, they changed it without my consent for one month before my date, and they didn't contact me, I returned to them they said, JetBlue who made the change, asking me to contact JetBlue, I did, JetBlue said that issue with your agent not us, do I have to pay for your fault. They should be the agent who takes our money and must care about their clients.

Don’t expect service or any kind of consideration to a customer. It’s really as bad as booking. My suggestion, stay booking accommodation directly on hotel chains websites.

Worst experience would give a zero
Worst experience ever to waste 4.5 hours calling Expedia to see if my layover can be changed. Got to an agent after 5 calls the agent took 45 mins to read out but could not answer simple and let me know baggage allowance questions! Then she transferred me after 3 hours phone line dropped no one called me back! Horrible
