Refuses to take payments, holding items for Ransom then cherry picking the items they want claiming it went to auction.
They increased the monthly fee for the same unit by over 80% over a two year period. For a 10 X 10 foot unit the monthly charge was $345. I rented the same square foot unit at the new U-Haul facility on Hwy 200 for $150.Hope they go out of business.

I have mix reviews, The facility @ Limerick, PA was very clean. Customer Service was Top Rate. I had so many question, the woman who helped was name Brittany so patient and thorough. The prices seem on the high side, reason I haven't yet leased one. I'm still shopping around. I had to give a review due to the customer service. It seems rare these days for people to show they care, it's very refreshing.
I accidentally reserved a unit on 11/26/24. I left a voicemail for the company stating that I had reserved them by mistake as my husband stated it was too far away. I asked for a refund as well. I didn't hear back from the company which prompted me to call them again the next morning. This time I spoke with the manager and he stated that he would cancel my unit for a future date at the end of December. I explained to him that he misunderstood as I wasn't needing the unit at all and I needed it cancelled immediately and a refund issued. He stated he would talk to his manager and I would receive my refund in a couple days. Here we are 12/6/24 and I have not received a cancellation email or a refund. I have left numerous messages for return calls, I also left an email, I even stated that if I didn't receive my cancellation and refund that I made by mistake then I would be forced to report them and leave a negative review. This manager clearly doesn't care about his job, the people he works for, or the people that he services. I recommend people to stay far away from this storage company! This manager has shown that he is completely incompetent and unprofessional!
I have had an incredibly disappointing experience with Compass Storage on 250 Sandy Creek Parkway. Over the past year, my monthly storage fees have skyrocketed by over 100%, despite the staff turning up the temp from 64 degrees when I moved in to 80 now with 67% humidity. I’ve paid more than $3,000 to store my belongings here, and the results have been devastating.The storage units are advertised as climate-controlled, but that’s far from the truth. The temperature has been set at 80°F with 67% humidity, which is not adequate to protect sensitive items. As if that wasn’t bad enough, I’ve also noticed discoloration on the ground in my unit, indicating a potential leak.This combination of poor climate control and possible water damage has caused over $20,000 in damage to my belongings, including irreplaceable items. I trusted this facility to keep my items safe, and they have completely failed.I do not recommend Compass Storage to anyone looking for a reliable and secure storage solution. For the amount they charge, the quality should be far better. If you value your possessions, look elsewhere.
I just received a price increase from Compass for over 23%!!! I’ve been with Compass less than 3 months and before I agreed to rent the units I asked point blank “How do you handle rate increases?”. The facility rep onsite said “3-8%”. Anything above CPI is egregious. 23+% is criminal. Never again.
Grace at the Shelbyville Tn location is Awesome! I was so stressed out over my move and Grace went out of her way to make me feel better. She took care of all my needs and even offered suggestions to make things run a little smoother. I highly recommend Compass to anyone with a storage need and be sure to see Grace when you get there!!
Kelly took care of us and was such a great help. We had a situation with the U-Haul and she did everything that she could to help us out and work with us. She is a top-notch employee and is great at customer service. We really appreciate all that she has done for us.
Never had any problems with staff or the unit it self my review is for corporate. This 6 month price increasing has left me no choice but to pack my stuff and go somewhere else. I know I can get a better price elsewhere. I'm not going to share any $ amount but my rent doubled in a few years of renting and they will keep raising it until I can't afford it. Then I have to remove all my belongings or obviously if I don't pay they lock it up and sell my belongings. This company would be more beneficial for short term renters.
The Elfinwild Rd. location, near Allison Park is HORRIBLE! If a negative rating would.be possible, that is the best they could hope for. I had rented there years before Compass bought it without ever a problem. Compass made that turn around 180°! Initially it was acceptable, within one year the monthly rates climbed by $25 per quarter, yet their advertised rates remained the same. Foolishly I allowed that to continue far longer than I.should have however I moved and could not relocate the contents, including the classoc car stored inside. If the controlling manager is not Allibaba, it must be his cousin. Telling them that what they were charging was an increase of 50% above published rated s did nothing and calling Corporate did no thing either. While I cannot prove it I believe they knew what was inside and may have wanted it for an interested party. Go anyplace else do yourself a favor
MULTIPLE THEFTS REPORTED TO POLICEStaff refuses to inform Victims of Thefts and refuse to speak to victims. District and Corporate refuse to respond to requests for information. Police report that staff claims cameras were inoperable on dates of Thefts. Too many coincidences, Inside JOB? Who's looking into this, staff NO, District NO, Corporate NO. DO NOT TRUST THIS ORGANIZATION! STAY AWAY!
I rented the unit 4 weeks ago and yesterday I came to pick up some things and found my unit almost empty. It had been stolen. It has no security. No cameras. The gate is open 24/7. They rent units to homeless people and they use them to sleep. They were one of these people who robbed me because I found part of my dining room set in one of the homeless units.. XERXOR SELF STORAGE TENANT INSURANCE Company would ONLY cover $3000 dollars later make the claim...PAY more to have a unit with A/C but are truly making it easier for thiefs to stole your belongings from inside.That's why the homeless prefer to pay to sleep and steal …… There is no reason that the Compass Self Storage allows them to do that and they even have pets.
Management should be properly trained. Are you wondering my customers get poor customer service? Well, managers are always changing their mind on how to handle certain procedures. Your Gate Code is giving you trouble or you have been stuck inside the gate and nobody seems to help you. The people you speak on the phone can hardly do anything. They are “trained to sent emails so they can contact you “right away”. Are you speaking with a customer rep and your calls drops or you can hear them. Well, agents are having daily issues with the system they use. The system is always loading ,going offline, dropping calls while speaking with a customer. Especially, when they need to transfer a call to the store. Managers are aware of all the issues but they blame the IT people and IT blames the representatives. If you dont want to deal with dropping calls or “let me sent an email so they can go ahead and help you out” dont rent a unit herw.
The company can approve in firing the whole staff. A lock was put on my storage unit because I wrote a bad review on them three weeks ago. I had a job and needed to get some things out of my storage unit only not able to get in it because the company put a lock on it. When I spoke to the manager the next day she advised she doesn't know a lock was put on my storage
My rental started February 10 2023 it was not verbally announced that they go up every 90 days. I talked with upper management who said at first they don’t do that and the young lady in the office Ashley was not a representation of the company and it is every 6 months then change his tune and double down on her that it is every 90 days. When asked why is my storage going up every 90 days he stated we not like Public Storage or others in the area , He is right they not going up on their prices just Compass. Please do not rent a storage from Companies who practices deceptive practices. Moving out and will Continue to Educate people on their deceptive behavior and if this is or has happen to you call the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau file a complaint.
Maria at the Compass Self Storage in Whittsett,NC is amazing! She was extremely helpful during my entire experience (4/22-6/23). She was always pleasant and helped to facilitate a smooth move out. The units were very clean. I definitely recommend using this site!
I’ve had this unit for just about a year. In that time they have increased the rental fee 2X for a total of $75.00. The sooner I can get out of this storage facility, the better.
BEWARE!!!! this facility has been nothing but a nightmare. First my unit was robbed. There was an ongoing problem and they didn't even have cameras all around the facility. They swore up and down they fixed the problem so I stayed. 6 months later I went to my unit and there were HUNDREDS of mouse droppings! The whole unit was covered and contaminated. They are NEGLIGENT and don't take accountability for their lack of responsibility to offer a protected space. insurance is a joke there too finding ways to pay as little as possible. STAY AWAY FROM COMPASS!!
