Terrible service, hidden fees, damaged items
packaged arrived completely damaged and unusable. Money was not refundable (insurance only covers lost/stolen packages). Most importantly, the company was not transparent about the fees. It claimed that the amount I was paying them covered all shipping fees and "clearing customs". However, when the package arrived at the UK boarder, I received a notification from DHL stating that I need to pay a £159.44 import tax in order for the package to be allowed to enter the country. Clearly American baggage did not clarify to customs that this item was not being imported for resale. Moreover the high tax must have been calculated based off of the product value I provided to American baggage for the insurance, which was the price I paid for the product when it was new (i.e. replacement cost). Note that I am currently disputing this with UK customs via the HMRC website since the item was not for resale. However, it has been a few weeks and I have not heard back.
