STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I wish I had done some research before hiring them, but I was in a time crunch. My fault. Initially, I was quoted about $1,400, and was told it's a flat fee. Only after they loaded everything on the van did they tell me the fee had changed to $2,200, and they gave me some nonsense explanation. The stuff was not even a lot. They could have told me before they touched anything that the fee was going to change drastically. The most unethical company I have ever dealt with.

My quote changed to 3 times higher on move day!!

My quote changed to 3 times the original price even after I decided to not take large pieces of furniture. I had been quoted $1487 initially, then did a walk through with QA and my price increased to $2257. Requiring a new deposit. Then on the day of the move the company increased my price again to $4187. DAY OF. Do NOT use this company to move! I never will again. And before the " this is a fake review " My QA was Taylor Moore. Worst company period.

Not fake review!

Not fake review!! Horrible! rude and extremely greedy! He said he has been doing the job for over 40 years and failed to make sure an 18 wheeler would be able to enter the apartment complex all so he could charge me $660 extra to change trucks. I ended up renting a uhal because I was not giving him more money after already paying him $3000!

Used all state pro movers out of…

Used all state pro movers out of Raleigh NC. Promised 4 movers got 2 and 1 did all the work! Late by 4 hours pickup were there until after 12am. Delivered 3 dates late. 12.31 at 11pm. Again 2 drivers but both forced to help. Called local p.d. to mediate. Wouldn't honor zelle as per Extra Mile contract. Demanded cash. Police powerless to help. Frustrating and frustrated!

I had an extremely negative experience…

I had an extremely negative experience with Extra Mile Vanlines. I was quoted a low “Black Friday” promotional price to book my move. After booking, the company failed to disclose that they were acting as a broker and quietly subcontracted the move to Interstate McKinzie Movers LLC, which I did not learn about until the move was underway. The operator arrived a full day late, and once my belongings were loaded, the price was suddenly more than doubled through fees that were never disclosed or approved beforehand. When I objected, my household goods were held hostage, and delivery was refused unless I paid the new, inflated charges. As a result, my wife and our 18-month-old child were forced to sleep on the floor of an empty apartment while our belongings were intentionally withheld. This was an incredibly stressful and unacceptable situation that no family should be put through. This company engages in: Bait-and-switch pricing Undisclosed brokers and operators Hidden fees and price gouging Holding customers’ belongings hostage to force payment I strongly recommend avoiding Extra Mile Vanlines and doing thorough research before trusting them with your move. Had I known what I know now, I would never have booked with them. If you’re considering this company—proceed with extreme caution.

Failure to Deliver Furniture and…

Failure to Deliver Furniture and Improper Payment Request Company Name: Fair Rate Movers LLC, and Extra Mile Vanlines I am writing to address a serious issue regarding my recent move: On December 23, your team picked up my furniture. I was told delivery would be written to be delivered the following day. I am aware of the miles: delivery days. On December 27, Jason (phone: 201-240-2803) informed me the truck failed inspection and delivery would be delayed until the following week. Jason requested full payment to provide a delivery date, despite the agreement stating payment was due upon delivery. I complied and paid in full, but no delivery date was provided. As of January 2, I have not received my furniture nor any communication. This is unacceptable and violates the terms of accepting full payment, when payment is supposed to be due when the delivery arrived. This was confirmed with Dereck - Supervisor of Extramile Vanlines. Poor communication with Fair Rate Movers to Extra Mile Vanlines. Kaitlin has been trying to reach them, and hasn't been successful either. I am requesting: Immediate delivery of my furniture. Compensation for the inconvenience and breach of contract.

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would. From the moment they told me that they would have to change my pickup date from Thursday to Saturday I knew it was going to be bad. Never again will I hire movers. I waited 4 days for anyone to even show up and when they did they didn't have space on the truck. Wasted my entire week and lost days of wages. Their inability to communicate properly and not provide me with information regarding a refund of my deposit until the last day stating it was non refundable. The foreman came and loaded 15 boxes and said nothing else would fit and then charged me $300 to offload it since I cancelled. So $1000 lost and no service provided. My patience lost. What a horrible company. Chose another company and stay away from these people.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! I believe any good reviews were fake. If I could give them a negative 0 , I would. This is not a mover, it is a broker that makes commission off organizing other movers. Our first quote was around $1800. then around$2300. then $3300. First, they didnt have the date right. They hired a truck out of Florida that broke down. They sent a uhaul that wasn't big enough. Finally at 10pm they loaded. They stopped and said, I had used my allowed space and it would be $1700. more. They didnt show up until the next day late. Almost everything I owned was damaged. After I complained, I was ghosted. In the end we spent $4700. to move a 2 bedroom house 2 hours away. This is a predatory company. PLEASE DONT USE THEM !!!! I am sick with regret! They get your money then dissappear .

We are sorry that you were not happy with your moving experience. As told in your initial phone call with us and later in the contract you signed, we never hide the fact that we are a broker-it is front and center on our website. This job required a change of carriers as the original carrier had mechanical issues. Any additional items not disclosed to us during inventory taking are going to incur additional fees-this is the same for any moving company; you are charged on cubic feet used. Terrible just a terrible experience!

Terrible just a terrible experience!! Scheduled a move date. They showed up several days later. The people who bought my home couldn’t move in, so I had to pay the new owners for each day after the closing date. When they did show up they were professional hustlers. They were counting steps to the truck, they counted stairs. They then gave me a time limit of three hours. They had me over a barrel. They informed me they don’t take down bunk beds. They ask you to pay tip at the very beginning, I know why now. I was quoted $1200 to move a couch, bedroom set a bunkbed and a single bed. Ended up costing me double and they didn’t even finish putting everything where it went or putting the single bed together. Do not use this company.

The next time yall decided to outsource a moving company, you need to take into account the negative reviews about that company. You’re leaving people with the bad end of the deal who are waiting over 30+ days for their own belongings for what?! If you’re bad at business, just say that. But don’t worry sweetheart, just be on the lookout for those incoming lawsuits. Every time something bad happens to you, just know I prayed for it. Have the worst day possible. Every day.

We moved on October 31,2025

We moved on October 31,2025. They tried to change our move the night before after we had already paid 1300. Then they didn’t call to let us know what time and showed up late. After loading I thought the truck would at least deliver my furniture the next morning. Waited 4 days and had to get hotel lodging and no one ever told me this when I received the quote. On top of the low ball quote I ended up paying 6000 when it was supposed to be 2800. They only accepted cash or Zelle which was shady and after opening up my boxes that they were throwing around I found many items broken even though the boxes said fragile. I saw the driver of the truck throwing boxes off the back.I only got my furniture delivered after 4 days because I was blowing up the managers phone. No one from extra mile called or emailed me back after several attempts! I filed a claim of broken items but the manager has said nothing and I will probably never hear from him. Never use this company they will low ball you and then raise the price by thousands.

Understanding the dynamic of using moving brokers

I am using Extra Miles Vanlines to move from PA to FL and I wanted to leave a fair and honest review of my experience for everyone else that has plans to move in the future. At first, if you have never moved before your going to want to educate yourself between the difference of a moving broker and the movers themselves because there is a difference. If you can't find a moving service and need a company to handle the logistics of finding a mover, then a moving broker might be a great fit for your needs. Realize that moving brokers will make some money on top of the cost of your move, which that is ok, completely understandable. The one constructive criticism that I have is that the moving brokers should do a better job of the initial quoted estimate, but let me explain. Great upfront service to get a quote, go over inventory and get a price. Even after we adjusted our inventory and added more items, the price was still fair, no worries there. On the pickup day, was surprise to see that the movers when they saw the actual inventory, the same one we listed, needed to adjust our price because our furniture was going to take up more space on their truck. So the quote goes from a number what we were prepared and budgeted for to something outrageous based on truck cubic feet, not our original estimate. So that was disappointing to say the least. What could have been a reasonably priced move has become something way outside the scope of what we intended or had budgeted. For me being disabled, I still needed help with the move, so I pretty much had to accept whatever the adjusted move number was to make this move happen or risk our furniture sitting there with no way of getting it moved. Again, I am being very unbiased, I am not upset, just really explaining the whole process so that anyone else that needs to move can understand the process and set the proper expectations. This company has potential if the pricing could be more transparent. If your charging the cubic feet of total weight of the moving load, thats ok, just start the estimate or original conversations setting the appropriate expectations.

Forged documents and gaslighting

Forged documents and gaslighting. This company and the other brokers they use are a scam. Crazy part is that everything they put in the storage, isn't all ours. 2400 for storage fees absolutely not and a shuttle fee that didn't have to happen with proof. This company along with fast vanlines and their other bs names are a joke. It's sad really.

This company is a scam operation

This company is a scam operation. They committed to arrive on the 22nd of October and failed to show up citing an “issue with a truck”. They committed again to show up today between 12-4 and called at 3pm saying they’re still 5 hrs away and can’t make it. I asked for a refund for my deposit as we needed to finish the move ourselves and they declined. Apparently they are brokers not real movers. Don’t get scammed like I did. In response to your explanation, your driver DID NOT SHOW. He called the next day admitting he was still hours away. You’re a scam.

Sandi, in the contract that you signed, it clearly states that days/times can be fluid as we are subjected to road conditions, weather, etc. We do not refund deposits to last minute cancellations as we already had our team en route.

I wish I could give them a zero

I wish I could give them a zero! Total scam from the moment they got my deposit. The movers they sent were rude and unprofessional. The moving guy had his feelings hurt because I would not let him walk around the house without being accompanied (to go into my closet). They demanded money before they would take items off the van. After payment they removed some items, left muddy, dirty fingerprints in the walls and left my beds unassembled. Left the pieces all over the room, mattresses on the floor and left without telling us (guess that’s why they demand payment up front) We could not even confirm if all our items came off the van

If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is beyond unprofessional and operates like scammers. I hired them to move my items from Maryland to Houston, and the experience was a nightmare from start to finish. • Damaged & Missing Items: Multiple belongings arrived broken, and some (including my ladder) never showed up. When I tried to file a claim, they sent me a fraudulent link that didn’t work. Despite being told a manager would follow up, no one ever contacted me. This was back in July, and I’m still waiting. • Bait-and-Switch Pricing: I was originally quoted around $2,000, but after they loaded my things, they added more than $5,000 in extra charges. They refused to deliver my belongings until the inflated balance was paid. • Deceptive Paperwork: I signed one document, but the copy they sent me afterward had a completely different amount listed—after my signature. • Terrible Customer Service: The so-called “managers” have no customer service skills. Instead of helping, they were rude and dismissive, even threatening not to deliver my belongings if I didn’t pay their surprise charges. This company is dishonest, untrustworthy, and preys on customers. Do not use them under any circumstances. They take advantage of the customer!!!

Your move cost increased because you added additional items that were not disclosed in your original inventory. We have correspondence which shows you were aware of this.

This is part of a moving scam

This is part of a moving scam. They quote you a lowball price, then ask for a large downpayment to "hold" the price. The quote is worthless and nonbinding, because when the "mover" shows up, they charge as much as they can get, by thousands of $$ more. The quote is worthless and the downpayment is used to leverage the customer into paying whatever the mover demands, or lose the large downpayment paid in consideration for the quote, which again, is worthless. Moreover, the movers sent were unpermitted in California for an intrastate move, which both the broker and the mover are responsible for refunding, but neither are willing to do so so far, in violation of California law. The "moving company" they send arrives in an unmarked rental truck, then packs your things along with other households' goods, dragged through a dirty truck, then unloaded (and lost or damaged) into a warehouse (often used to hold customers' goods hostage until they pay the entire moving fee BEFORE delivery), and then delivered broken and ruined, in pieces, and with pieces missing, along with items entirely missing. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE. They then patly answer any complaint on BBB, which doesn't investigate at all, and BBB then closes the complaint immediately on receipt of their response, allowing no time to respond to their answer. BBB helps this fraudulent company to maintain doing business with a B+ business rating, which is undeserved. They calculatingly answer each complaint while doing nothing to change their fraudulent operations.
