We continue to find that GWUOHS is a wonderful academic experience for my child with a challenging curriculum and very supportive and attentive teachers. My daughter has attended the school since 2020 and is thriving academically.
The flexible nature of the school is amazing. It makes balancing a sport and school possible. The online platform is easy to use, and as a parent, I appreciate being able to check in and monitor progress.
I enrolled my teen in online classes to support her homeschool experience. Her academic advisor has been world class - truly exceptional. The instructors have ranged from good to great. The course content has been the biggest detractor - the AP courses often feature outdated materials (documents from the Bush era for AP English and 15 years ago for AP Enviro Sci) and broken links. The AP courses also tend to be focused on the test, which was moot for us since we did not have a location for the test and they could not help us find one.
More than anything, GWUOHS has demonstrated you can give your children a world-class college prep education with the flexibility and safety of doing it online. My children are being challenged every day, and they are given access to some of the best teachers out there. This was the best decision I could ever make for my kids.
I've had a great experience at GWU Online High School. The curriculum is very challenging and competitive, and requires students to stay on top of assignments. Otherwise, you'll get swamped or "sunk or swum," so to speak. Fortunately, the teachers, schedule flexibility and advisors are incredibly supportive. I'm proud to be part of this school community since 8th grade and have one year left to graduate. One suggestion I have is offering an in-person graduation ceremony, which would be a wonderful way to celebrate and honor students' hard work and achievements. I think we all deserve it!
