0 ⭐️’s if possible. We booked ‪2 Mechanic St‬. Marblehead, MA for a 4 night stay July 10 through the 13th. First this property has stairs everywhere starting with very steep ones right off the road and throughout the six floors of the property. It was difficult for bringing in luggage & food and impossible for handicapped travelers. Parking for 1 car only and the nerve to charge $40. more for a second car. When we arrived we were prepared for a rustic property NOT a filthy and tattered property. We were group of 8, it was our intention to cook and eat meals at the property. When we arrived we immediately set out to put our supplies away and begin to make dinner for that evening. However everything was filthy dirty...sticky countertops, cabinets, tables, chairs & the refrigerator which smelled so disgusting we almost vomited every time the door was opened; not to mention the food drippings inside of it from previous guests. The silverware drawers which contained the “clean silverware” and utensils was filled with crumbs and food particles. Everything was so unsanitary. We immediately stripped the beds and washed all the sheets and pillowcases firmly believing that if housekeeping didn’t clean the kitchen, it wasn’t likely they would bother to wash the sheets between guests? In addition the floors where dirty causing filthy socks or feet. As we attempted to clean some of these areas we also found the kitchen faucet was leaking and unusable; we looked below the cabinet, it was filled with water and mold. Clearly not cleaned that day before our arrival or any other time recently to have accumulated that much mold. We contacted the host Leann. She made excuses for the dirty conditions by telling us that the cleaners are only human. We get that; we are also human and paid to stay there with the expectation that it was to be CLEAN and in GOOD working condition. She agreed to send a plumber and housekeeper the next day. The plumber arrived approximately 1100 and completed the repair quickly the the cleaning staff came in at 1130. After speaking with her and giving her our list of concerns & expectations which she agreed to, we did not feel the need to stay there while she completed the tasks, so we left. The housekeeper did NOT clean the bathrooms  (which also had some mold around the tub), or the refrigerator and many of the drawers & cabinets that were sticky as we asked her to do. Additionally there were cobwebs around the ceiling lights and light bulbs not working which were also not cleaned and replaced. We concluded she probably left right after we left. We tried to reach the host again, she did NOT respond then or for the duration of our visit or after we checked out. This resulted in us not feeling comfortable to use the kitchen; and definitely not for the first three meals as we didn’t have water. We opted not to cook anything in the dirty kitchen Which for a group of 8 was rather costly addition to our vacation. In addition to the filthy kitchen, the furniture in this property was also very stained, in disrepair and tattered to the point where we weren’t comfortable sitting on them. We weren’t sure if the multiple dark stains on the chairs were from blood, chocolate or other dark substance but it really was just gross. The Wi-Fi connection just buffered we ended up disconnecting from it as we were better off not using it. There was a lovely outside area that you could sit at EXCEPT the furniture was completely rusted and in very poor condition to the degree that there was concern that the chairs might collapse.Yet another issue to note was the torn & tattered window coverings in the bedroom windows that were unusable, broken & torn allowing the early morning sun to shine in at 05:30am. The beds were not particularly comfortable with the exception of the very first floor it was a queen sofa bed that had a huge metal bar about the halfway point under a thin mattress; very painful to sleep on. It could not be avoided. No one should have to pay for that. The real kicker was our last night, it rained on our 3 children as they were sleeping in the 6 floor bedroom via cracks in the ceiling where the water just dripped through and they were left wet in the beds. The stay was a working, stressful vacation cleaning up after others which is totally unacceptable. This property is clearly a cash cow for this host She had no intention of rectifying the issues at her property as evidenced by her unresponsiveness during our stay and after. We documented what we could with Photos. VRBO is a useless company that does not clearly state customer support offered once you arrive at a dirty unacceptable property. I will NEVER use VRBO again they should be investigated for their poor business practice.

SCAM

SCAM. Booked and paid for a family holiday only to fly to Greece and the confirmed accommodation had not been booked by Vrbo or any money paid to them.

I can't believe this company are still…

I can't believe this company are still allowed to be in business. They are totally unhelpful and obstructive. As a former villa owner they refused any assistance and I wasted hours and hours attempting to alert them to a situation in which the owner lost thousands of pounds. Disgraceful.

Horrible in every way

Horrible in every way. Unreliable, chaotic and unable to help. Waited 40 minutes in the chat. Explained my problem over and over again and finally they said they could fix it. But they couldn't - which took another 25 minutes to find out.

the property no is 8140794 .res ID HA-T7HITW. Collaboration Spain 23/4/22- 14/5/22.The property was as described but due to building work next door with noise non stop , we felt our holiday was ruined . We felt that we should have been informed of this when renting and after many emails and arguement, the owners have given£400 in compensation. We also think that the contract wording is poor. We expected a return of what is termed a HELD security deposit of £200. It transpires that this is incorrect and are now advised that as there was no damage , it means there will be no further charges to our bank account . Very bad and misleading wording . Others beware ! Suffice to say we would not ever return , even for free. A very unfortunate and costly experience. Not a happy camper !!.

VRBO owe us money and will not send it…

VRBO owe us money and will not send it to us. We are owed 1200 Euros by VRBO. They say that they have the money, that it is ours but due to “payment issues” cannot send it to us. They have paid us other money so I can’t understand this excuse

Family vacation

Our family recently stayed three nights at a villa in the Sanctuary at westhaven managed by Matthew Williams. The villa was property number #4249016. Upon arrival the pool was dirty with stains and a dead lizard, the house itself had not been cleaned properly. The walls were marked badly, the carpets were appalling, some of the kitchen sockets didn't work, there was a lack of certain items ie scissors, towels.,the bannister rails were filthy and things like the toothbrush holders hadnt seen a clean at all. We aren't the sort of people to complain but felt it necessary on this occasion as we were so disappointed. As soon as we opened the front door the smell hit us and we had no option but to open the doors to try and get rid of it. When we complained to Matthew williams about things including sending him pictures he threw our complaints back at us. We found him to be aggressive and rude. I left a one star rating on the vrbo website which was published then removed. What is the point of being able to leave a review only to have it removed from the management company. We have never once asked for a refund or any kind of compensation but feel very letdown by the whole process.

Fraud Office should investigate

I would suggest that the Fraud Office inspects this business immediately. In my experience, the company is totally dishonest. I just wish I had read all the other customers' reviews on this website before I dealt with Vrbo.

Its a SCAM!

Stay away from this place(761, Jacques-Bédard; Quebec G2N 1E1).The owner will charge you for damages that you didn't even do and with these website not protecting travelers its an easy scam for them!I tried to work with VRBO support to get this sorted out with the owner of the property as I'm not getting any response from the owner but traveler's support is none existent, there is no way for you to dispute their easy money scheme! Stay away from that address and VRBO! You've been warned!

DO NOT USE VRBO

We booked a holiday via VRBO that turned out to be a scam. The customer service is appalling. They kept promising that someone (from the escalation team) would call back within 24 hours, which they never did. We have called daily for over 3 weeks and still haven't had any help whatsoever. We'll never use this company again and advice you all to do the same.

apartment in palma…

We booked an apartment for a week in Palma Mallorca in July.When we arrived we soon realised that the apartment description was different from what was advertised and they even had photos in the description that were not of the property we had booked.The property was stated as air conditioned but there was only one unit in the living room that was only blowing out room temperature air.We contacted the owner and he sent his handy man,who put his hand up to it and said it was working.We waited a couple of hours to see if the place would cool down but it was unbearable.So we contacted vrbo and the owner to say we were leaving as staying in the property would ruin our holiday.We paid £1600 for the week,so it wasn’t cheap.We have contacted vrbo countless times but they just do not get back to you.We have rented numerous properties in the past and never had a problem but vrbo is a different matter.They are the worst of the worst.They have no interest in customer service.They just take your money then turn there back on you.We have lost our money unless we take them to court and that’s how they run there business.

Horrible customer service!

Horrible customer service! They are not on the renter’s side! They do not want to deal with you and will terminate your call when they don’t have a solution! Avoid at all cost!!

Do not use It!

Do not use It!We booked 2 nights in Croatia through Hotels.com and we were redirected to VRBO (both part of Expedia group). The rental was already occupied by people and impossible to obtain a refund. Nobody answer by the chat, they redirect you to phone numbers (US, Italian, Croatian and french numbers and none of them are reachable …)

Holiday rental owners beware of Homeaway/VRBO

We are now into the 5th week since we hosted Homeaway/Abritel/VRBO first client plus other clients after and still no money from them, they promised to pay us on client arrival, they owe us over £4000, I have had this email from ABRITEL/Homeaway/VRBO LOTS of times " This issue is currently being investigated by our development team. ". plus 100 other excuses.This is all a load of nonsense, surely one of the biggest website vacation rental sites in the world can sort a simple thing like paying its hosts their money, this is beginning to sound like a SCAM.They are still sending us booking requests for dates available in August, about 30 so far, but we are having to refuse them, this whole thing is making us very ill.

Somebody said he wish there were 0…

Somebody said he wish there were 0 stars and I feel the same. Hadn't even booked with them but via their partner hotels.com who told me I had to take up any issues with VRBO, or rather they called them home away. My first call dropped while the agent was getting help from a colleague but nobody bothered to call me back about my problem. After a further call was told to expect a callback which am still waiting for. But then they had the front to send me a message asking to rate their customer service. And at the same time got a message from another company in Greece (where i was staying) asking me if I enjoyed my stay. Have already left a negative review about hotels.com here as well. So beware of both of these companies.And it keeps getting worse. When I finally got someone yesterday was told to there's nothing they could do for me as it was the other compnay in Greece, Holihouse that had handled the booking. But they also told me to leave a negative review for the property on their website. However that function doesn't seem to exist. Was told it was a bug and to try again later, but 4 days later its still not possible.

HomeAway was wonderful. Now it’s Vrbo its shameful. The App is impossible to negotiate. Probably now being asset stripped.

Ongoing Problems-part 2

here is an update from my previous review, VRBO replied to my review and said to telephone them to resolve the issue, the rep said the problem was I had got my credit card involved and never cancelled through the VRBO website-WRONG, told him the date -taken from the website-when i cancelled. later received an email telling me I had 4 active reservations AND they wanted my bank statements verifying I had been charged. WRONG, i went on the VRBO site and cut and pasted showing the 4 "active" bookings were not active, received a second email later saying the same thing! Like hell I will send them my bank statements, still no explanation as to why the same reservation was charged 3X!IF YOU USE VRBO BE SURE TO USE A CREDIT AND NOT A DEBIT CARD FOR WHEN THE INEVITABLE MISTAKES HAPPEN AND ARE NOT RESOLVED.

Terrible

Terrible. The owner contacted us alarmed that she had cancelled her property but somehow it was still listed. More worrying is that Vrbo had sent an automated email asking us to pay... the booking had not even been approved by the owner!!! Wth? I asked the lady to reject the booking then she told me she did not know how. As a user you cannot cancel your reservation... why??? So I was told I had to wait for the reservation to expire, which it would do in 20 hours. Funny thing is that this brings us to the 29th of March and if it is approved I have until 23:59 on the same day to cancel for full refund :D, happy days!!! So just within a few hours if ypu are not checking your emails they can pocket some of your money, how lovely. Also when I requested the script of the dialogue I had in their support chat room oddly I got a "have I lost you?" Message before being disconnected... they'd better not take one penny out of my account.

was good company before Expedia took them over.....used to love there company but now problem after problem for guest and owner.
