Is this purely a scam shop?
Is this purely a scam shop? Bought a simple pair of bike shoes. They were too small, and I wanted to change them. Their "customer services" seems deliberately designed to wear out people. No replies to emails, phone calls not answered, only AI robots on their site. Sad. Tried to support this "small shop" to go against the Amazon trend. Am afraid I'm back to Amazon. Much more reliable.

Sold me a counterfeit Cannondale Quick 3 CX. The bike can't be registered with Cannondale. Sub-quality parts. Buyer beware.

Empty promises and disrespect to GDPR
It seems to be a little success story. But as sympathetic the name suggests to be as violent is their adamant newsletter war. They do not send one but three newsletters at a time!I was caught by a fault of one of their customers (unable to write his proper email address) into their list and I - believe me - tried to explain, begged to erase my data… but no, it’s just impossible to get rid of mikesbikes.comCustomer service and respectful handling of GDPR is unfortunately not on their menu.

Bait and Switch
Update: After contacting Cannondale, MikesBikes did send me some Cannondale pedals. FYI, Cannondale Corp uses AI for customer service. On another note, I bought the CX3 because it was closest to my old Specialized CrossTrail which was discontinued. Specialized new hybrids aren't anything like the Crosstrail. That said, the CX3 isn't quite up to the CrossTrail in hardware, although similar price point. I'm keeping the CrossTrail and will upgrade worn parts. There's actually a CrossTrail fan base.Ordered and received two Cannondale CX3s ($1700). Upon delivery pedals were not included even though website specs listed Cannondale Platform for pedals. Sales support at Mike's tried to absolve themselves by referring to their disclaimer "subject to change without notice " and indicating it was Cannondale's policy. I can understand specs changing on components but not omitted. They could easily omit any part on the bike based on their interpretation of the disclaimer. Since when is bait and switch the new business ethic?Mike's made a feeble attempt to offer some aftermarket pedals or $30 per bike credit. The Cannondale pedals are $45 each. Mike's could've notified the buyer pedals were not included and offered pedals at time of purchase or, updated the website specs sheet to exclude pedals, or, said my bad and sent the originally spec'd pedals. They did none of those. So disgusted by this pettiness I considered returning bikes on principle even if incurring shipping charges. I've also contacted Cannondale about the unethical business practice of omitting information about pedals (PON International owned).

They sent me a bike I absolutely love, but..
They sent me a bike I absolutely love. (Orbea Rise) The problem is that the bike had no serial number on it. The documentation had no serial number. The invoice had no serial number. As a consequence, I had no warranty on a $5000 purchase. Their customer service department was indifferent if not rude. My salvation was a local bike shop here in Boulder who helped me, pro-bono, and through direct contact with Orbea was able to have my warranty issue taken care of (Bad battery). I love my Orbea, but will never buy from MikesBikes.com again. In fact, we purchased a second Rise for my wife from our local bike shop, and not Mike's.

Great Service!!
I rarely write reviews but I have to give a big shout out to the team at Mike's Bikes in Los Gatos. I was on my way to the demonstration forest in the Santa Cruz mountains and realize a part had fallen off my front wheel. They scrambled around to fine a spare part but couldn't find the exact fit. So the manager, Robbie Munoz and the head tech, Mark Howard decided to pull the part off of a new bike so that I could make my ride! Very creative and way beyond the normal call of duty. Both also gave hints for best trails etc. Thanks again!!

I purchased a gravel bike and hard tail mtb from Mike’s Bikes this year. Both internet purchases which were picked up in SF store. Everything went smooth and as expected as far as sales expectations and experience.Where they absolutely exceeded expectations was in the service department. I’ve been treated like family here in the way they receive me and take care of my bikes. Not just regular service either. Sometimes I work on my bikes and screw things up. I’ve been dissed by snooty shops in the past (American Cyclery). But not here, nothing but love.Additionaly I recently crashed my beloved new SC Stigmata at high speed causing all kinds of mechanical havoc. Not only were the service staff kind but extremely proficient in mechanicals to reset everything nicely and get me riding again. Shout out to Devin and Rene (and other staff for sure) for setting the gold standard in professionalism. It is very difficult to write good reviews for bike shops, but not this one is easy. 6 stars ******

Bait & Switch Tactic?
I ordered three pair of sunglasses on their site for $33 each, or $99 total. I receive an email the next day stating they had a price error, and they would not be honoring the $33 price. They offered the sunglasses to me for $99 each, instead. That may be true, or it may also be a shady bait and switch tactic. I asked them if they would honor one pair of glasses at that price, but they declined and refunded my money. I don't know what is the truth, but Mike's Bikes reviews are all over the place. Buy with caution.

Make sure you know exactly what you want before you order from these guys
I bought a BMC from Mike's bikes. Prior to purchase, I SCOURED the internet to find out where these bikes were made and every single lead said they were made in Switzerland. First thing I see when I pulled the bike out of the box was a "made in Taiwan" sticker. I then noticed the components were on the cheaper end... Not what I expected at all for a $1,200 bike. (List) I immediately contacted them and asked to return the bike and they said sure, as long as I paid for return shipping at a cost of $230. I was also told that the frame was a great platform to build up from... Should I really have to build up a $1,200 bike? If I wanted to build a bike from scratch I would have done so. Their website says there MAY be return shipping costs...I'd like to know what constitutes MAY because an unhappy customer definitely means there WILL be return shipping costs. I felt misled, not by Mike's bikes, (there is nothing on their website stating where these bikes are made) but because there is nothing by BMC anywhere stating they are made in Taiwan. My beef with Mike's bikes is that I had hoped they would do the right thing and say ok, we understand, we'll work with you and try to figure something out... After all, they are an authorized dealer... You think they would stand behind what they sell, But they didn't. I then said ok, how about this...I understand it's not your fault, but you still sold me a bike that I believed to be something that it wasn't..how about splitting the return shipping cost with me? No to that as well. Basically told me I'm stuck w a $1200 bike that is not what I thought I was getting unless I want to eat $230 bucks to send it back. Made me feel like once they had my money they could give a crap less about whether or not I was happy. Great customer support guys. Bravo. Not willing to work with me at all whatsoever. They did have the best price, ($960+ tax) but I would rather have paid a little more elsewhere knowing I would actually have some customer support. So look locally before you order from these guys because If it's not exactly what you want, you're gonna be stuck with it.

Excellent service
I found Mikes Bikes to be friendly, knowledgeable., and helpful. They gave sound advice without being patronising, they carry a good selection of spares and quickly got in stuff they didn't carry, I have no reservations in recommending this shop

Don't order from Mike's bikes
Long story short: Don't order from Mike's Bikes.I originally ordered a Cannondale Moterra 3 from them and the reason I used Mike's Bikes is because they appeared as if they were the only online store to have them in stock, Cannondale listed them as sold out. Well it turns out Mike's Bikes didn't have them in stock either but they were happy to take my money, this seems like an extraordinary unethical sales practice, don't sell it if you can't ship it. They kept delaying me saying that it would "Ship any week now" and after 3 months had to fess up that due to supply chain issues the earliest I might see it was October, the bikes haven't even been manufactured. They offered me a discount and upsold me into a Santa Cruz Heckler, but I had to make the decision to go almost $2k more out of pocket. I took the offer and then on arrival of my brand new bike I found that the dropper post was broken and regardless of activation the seat would sink all the way down, Mike's Bikes told me to take it in to a local bike shop and when the bike shop fixed it they also pointed out I was missing a critical part (a torque cap) that without it could damage the bike on riding it. Mike's Bikes told me I must have thrown it out, but I remember it clearly not being attached to plastic container material they ask you to check with a big sign. They said they would check to see if they could get me a replacement, but after another 10 days of no follow up I've hit my max point of frustration. I've since researched the part and ordered it myself (it took me 10 minutes and it will arrive in 3-5 days) and its been almost 6 month from the time I originally tried to just order the original Cannondale.Don't risk using these guys for your Bike order would be my advice.

Mandatory and disappointing assembly service
I recently purchased a bike online from Mike's Bikes, a Cannondale Synapse 2. I could have bought it from my local bike shop, but at that price point I'm going to be picky about color and they didn't have mint green in stock at LBS, so Mike's it was.The first thing that bothered me about Mike's is that their "Wheelsmith Gold Label Assembly" is mandatory. You can't buy a bike online from them without having it pre-assembled in their shop. Fine, whatever, but I'd prefer to have LBS do the assembly. The bike arrived sooner than I anticipated which was great, but the $69 assembly was frankly disappointing. They left a sticker on the handlebars that they partially wrapped under the tape which was tricky to remove. One of the cranks arrived pretty scratched up. And their mechanics didn't wire the front light and radar display to the bike's battery/control unit, so I had to remove the battery compartment and fish the cable through myself to get it all working. I would expect more if they're not going to give you a choice, especially if they call it a "gold label" service. Now I'm going to need to take it to LBS to make sure nothing else was overlooked in assembly.

Low price for a bike rack sounded good
Low price for a bike rack sounded good, but more than a week after placing the order (they immediately charged the payment method!) the rack has still not shipped. No way to contact customer service; apparently they are all out on rides.

Follow the advice of others and AVOID…
Follow the advice of others and AVOID this "bike shop".Mikes Bikes reminds me of another horrible online "bike shop" Modern Performance. Happy to take your cash for an item and then ship via the SLOWEST and LEAST insured method possible. For a $1000 item no less. Then they proceed to not look into your order at all and instead give you a copy and paste answer. I would tell any cyclist to avoid purchasing anything from these guys. The "deals" aren't worth the headaches you get.

New Santa Cruz Hightower C S Online…
New Santa Cruz Hightower C S Online PurchaseI had an excellent experience with an online purchase from Mikes Bikes. I did make sure to purchase a bicycle that was currently in Stock. It shipped a week after I ordered and I had it about a week after that - shipped to East Coast. I looked everywhere for Hightower C S build in my local bike shops, but no one could even order one. After a month of looking for one I bought from Mikes Bikes and crossed my fingers and everything worked out! This was a 6.5k bike so I was reluctant to purchase online, but I would not hesitate to buy another bike in the future from Mikes Bikes. The bike came well packaged, they essentially assemble the entire bike then remove the wheels the handle bars. The bike is then zip tied to a carboard frame within the box. Assembly took me about 1.5 hours of very slowly going through everything. In the end you just put the wheels on and attached the handle bars. All brakes, shifters, and cables come on the bike and tuned up. I had 2 questions and Mikes Bikes responded to both emails within 24 hours.

I never write any review before
I never write any review before. But this is I should write review to warning anyone who gonna buy E Bike from mikesbikes. Last years on May 2020 me and my wife we have a chance to bought a new bike. So I bought Specialized Turbo Levo SL carbon comp for wife. MIKESBIKES SF doesn't have it in Store. had to shipped from Contibution Center to Mikesbikes SF. We didn't have a chance to ride it much since. Also when we ride we alway track our miles with Strava. Recorded show 233 miles. On its.( we didn't ride it cause we busy at work) But last month(September 2021) I try to sale it to someone and then check mileage on Mission control App. It's showed 3,400 miles on it.I super curious because I bought two bike at the same time. 1 is Specialized from Mikesbikes 1 is Canyon Lux from Canyon. So I took its back to SF store to investigated what was happen. One of there staff told me that bike may be test ride when they service it. But hey 3,400miles with 124 recharge cycle it's freaking weird for a new bike. Anyway it's ended up they not gonna respond anything about this. Now I'm super upset. I warn you guy before buying an E Bike from them. Make sure check mileage before take it. They might have a few mileage since easy one can test ride the bike in store.(but not 3400miles like me) You get charge for brand new bike price but got a used bike from them it will effect when you try to sale the bike.I give them 1 star because 1 of staff sale very nice. And hope Mikesbikes management should see this Review and do something for me.
