A Frustrating, Buggy Experience with SchoolSpring's New Website

I recently used the new SchoolSpring website (since merging with PowerSchool) to apply for an internal position, and it was incredibly frustrating.Despite carefully entering the correct information into my profile, the application was submitted with random changes that I never entered. For example, I put "Virginia" for a state, but the submitted application showed "Vatican." My major showed up as "Bahamas," and the "employee referral" I selected was replaced with "Eritrea." At first, I wondered if that was the Latin word for referral, but now I know that's also a random country... When I clicked "update," the application did show the correct information, like "Virginia" and "employee referral." But when I checked the submitted application again, it still showed all these incorrect entries. It made it look like I had filled out the application without paying attention (or while drinking!). In reality, I entered everything correctly. It was super frustrating and looks totally unprofessional. The dropdown for the start year was filled with "NaN" instead of actual years, making the form unusable. I also noticed only about 20 random colleges in the selection list, forcing me to manually select "other" and type in my school, which felt sloppy. One thing I tried was to withdraw my application, but the option was grayed out and unavailable. I thought maybe I could cancel and reapply, hoping that might fix the errors, but honestly, I doubted it would help. Since I never entered the wrong info in the first place, it seemed like a wasted effort.Another issue: there's no way to rearrange your work history. If you forget to add a job, it shows up at the top of your profile once you add it. But this doesn’t matter, since you must re-enter all your information when applying anyway. I’m also concerned about the security of my data. The website feels glitchy and insecure, and you cannot entirely delete your profile. Since the site is broken, I’m uncomfortable keeping my personal information there. I will likely take it off once HR has what they need. Hopefully, that's not too late. Hackers do use PII from job applications for identity theft. I had that happen years ago, so I try to only apply through company websites rather than job boards. This is a major disappointment for a platform that’s supposed to help schools recruit talent. It's frustrating, buggy, and wastes your time. The old website was fast and easy. You filled out your profile, then when you clicked to apply to a job, you just updated the cover letter, and that was it. Schools should consider switching to something more reliable. I can't recommend SchoolSpring in its current form. I've been studying computer science while transitioning out of the education field, and I just can't believe such incredibly wonky code was ever made live. I don't have professional tech experience yet, but this website is awful. There are apparently a lot of experienced software engineers looking for jobs right now, and Power School should pay them well to fix this website...

Unfortunately - SCHOOLSPRING is defective!

Unfortunately, schools in Massachusetts are using Schoolspring exclusively to post jobs and recruit staff. I have used the program over the years, but now, a job seeker must KNOW THE JOB TITLE, and fill in that box before proceeding a search. Not all school districts use the same JOB TITLES for support roles in SPED, and it often makes it impossible to find job openings in the town. SchoolSpring used to allow users to search by city only. Now, you have to go round and round to find which cities have jobs, and then, good luck if you can even find them on SchoolSpring. I wonder if the Commonwealth has been paying for this service or is it each school district. It is a shame that the only way to find these jobs is marred by an inadequate search function. I am very upset with this.

Awful User Experience

How do you update a product and make it worse? The search feature is unusable now. Also, there's no way to share a link of jobs in an area, or to view jobs by district. It's so unintuitive. PowerSchool scooping up companies like this is so frustrating. They ruin everything they touch.

Reached out to my references right away...

Typically when you apply for a job, the last thing to do is they reach out to your references. My boss was a reference that I entered and she did not know that I was exploring other job options. There needs to be a clear statement that they will get notified right away even before interviewing...

SchoolSpring is horrible now...

School spring used to be the common ap for teachers looking for jobs-instead of having to fill out numerous applications, all of your information was stored and was easy to send to the schools-now you have to fill out every single piece of information over and over again for each school! It has defeated the whole point of SchoolSpring-I despise using it. The program is often down and it won't allow you to even pick the information to auto fill-I am so disappointed by the program.

Schholspring's application process is…

Schoolspring's application process does not support candidate recruiting. For example, every time you apply for a job, the system sends a survey to your references. The problem is that if you apply to 10 school districts, the supervisor will have to fill out 10 different surveys. Why is this necessary? Why not have one reference survey, and send that out to all the employers within a certain time frame. After a few lengthy surveys, the supervisor is going to get frustrated and either not fill it out at all, or give a poor review. To all the districts out there, if Schoolspring pops up as the means to apply, I just back out and apply somewhere else.

Search Engine unreliable

School Spring's search engine is not reliable. For example, I know that Framingham, MA, has current postings for elementary teachers but when searching today, School Spring showed 0 results. A few minutes later, the same search worked, showing 74 results! I found that I have to think of districts on my own, go to their website and use a link to School Spring to apply.

I would give 0 stars

I would give 0 stars. You have to keep retyping information for jobs, even with the drop down menu. Even that requires more steps than anyone should have to complete. I already have (as many other have) spoken to the school district about how bad this platform is the first time I had to use it. And it has multiples of some of the information stored.

This program is terrible

This program is terrible. After spending a lengthy amount of time submitting an application, all of my data disappeared. When I reached out to customer support, I was told only data submitted under a profile tab was saved.

Can't save information while applying…

Can't save information while applying for a job return later, and if you take a long time it freezes up and little dots run across the screen and it makes you start over, I have started applying for a job 5 times so far. They should at least let you see a list of all the questions before you start applying so you can make sure you have all the info before you start. This is the most annoying software ever.

Awful

Awful, awful. Will not save info, application has to manually be typed in for each job applied. Almost unbelievable that region 11 ESC chose this mess. Makes it near impossible to apply for teaching positions.

Totally unusable site

This site used to work just fine, but they made changes that have made it unusable. It's impossible to search. Having to search for job title and location is ridiculous when I am just trying to see a list of the jobs open in my area or school district. Ads constantly pop up. I even had to make a new account because the email associated with my original account is also the email I use for Powerschool through my child's school and that now creates an issue? It would not let me login, nor send an email to reset the password. It's really unfortunate that all the schools use this site for their job applications, because it's the absolute worst. I would give zero stars, if possible.

This app is horrible

This app is horrible. It works sporadically. So cumbersome. I got so far than hit next for the next info and a big blank area appears and I couldn’t go any further. There has to be an easier app school systems could use instead of this one.

Why do I need to give my SS and…

Why do I need to give my SS and birthdate to apply for a job. and makes you fill out your entire life for every application instead of just showing resume. Hate it.

The new interface is horribly ineffective.

The new interface is horrible. 1. I'm not special education certified but cannot eliminate those options (It seems to only show those positions.)2. You can't use a back arrow.3. It is confusing.4. It's simply hard to find jobs.5. I miss the feature of using a radius from a certain zip code.6. It seems to inconsistently work.7. No real support (AI not sufficient).8. I don't see private school options.

If I could give less than one star I…

If I could give less than one star I would! It brings me to the PowerSchool sign in page. I type the same thing every time..name, accept the terms, click save and continue and nothing happens. On the site, there is the small blue circle in the top right hand corner without my initials, but when clicked, gives the only option to log out. I can't upload any documents, I still can't retrieve my documents from the OG School Spring and it's so frustrating. How can I upload documents, create a profile and access docs from the original site? Nothing I have done in the past two weeks has brought a resolution.

Test of patience

After filling out my profile, I went to apply for a job. It then makes me fill out the exact same stuff I just filled out. You have to save it page by page; if you don't finish all the pages and leave the site, it saves nothing at all. Very frustrating

They completely ruined the site

They completely ruined the site. The map feature no longer works properly. They also don't check the links properly and some of them are dead links. Massive waste of your time.
