First order placed arrived thawed and 5 of the 10 meals were leaking. Called and emailed with no response.
Food ordered the past two times was never delivered. The excuse the first time (11/18/24) was that they'd changed their shipping company and it hadn't picked up the order. Reordered for the following week, no excuse given for not delivering. Emailed and got responses twice, then they stopped responding. No return calls when I left a message.
I ordered meals. They said it shipped on the 11th. I received on the 23rd. Exterior box was wet. Nothing was refrigerated. I tossed the entire box in the trash. Never again. Don't use them. They never returned my calls. Never got my money back.
My silver cuisine order was held up by FedEx and spoiled. Getting through to some help took over 24 hours either on the phone or through email. They said they would go ahead and send me a replacement box at No cost. 2 Days Later nothing has been done and now the possibility is it will be sent out and it'll sit over the weekend at the FedEx and spoil again. It takes this company 24 to 48 hours to respond. They are either way understaffed or horrible and people must complain. It's too bad because I really like the meals and the idea of silver cuisine
If you love hospital food, these are for you! Meals are frozen and are supposed to be thawed in refrigerator before microwaving. I put them directly in the microwave (which they say can also be done) for more convenience. These meals are 2-3 times as expensive as Healthy Choice meals and taste about the same if not worse in some cases. I had jerk chicken with spinach and corn and chicken was dried out, spinach was mushy and the corn was okay. Other meals were as bad except the chicken pad thai which I threw out after a couple of bites. The one good thing is it’s easy to choose diabetic, low calorie, and/or low salt meals. Reading labels gets the same results with more taste elsewhere.
BistroMD under the Silver Cuisine label, has made progress in the lowering of sat fat, and other trashy ingredients. In the most recent batch, most entrees were decent, some more decent than others. However, one-Roasted Tofu with charred red pepper sauce-proved to be inedible and ended up in the rear of our property where wild things roam.
I just ordered from BistroMD and Silver Cuisine and I can not say enough GREAT things about their customer service. First I spoke with ANDY who explained all of my ordering options and he had fantastic recommendations for my family's current needs. Then I called back to place my order because I was having a problem with the website and I spoke with LAURA who took care of everything and fixed my account issue and placed my order right then and there. LAURA was over the top friendly, clearly understood my needs and took care of everything. This Heart Healthy, Gluten Free and Diabetic Meal delivery service has a meal for EVERYONE and has a program for everyone's needs whether for a short period or long with a great price point value. No commitment is needed for continual service, except once you taste the food you will be sold on the service. Quick, delicious HEALTHY meals with an over-the-top Customer service department. I cannot thank BistroMD and Silver Cuisine for being there for my family when we needed it the most.
After surgery, I was looking for convenient and healthy prepared meals. Need high protein, low sugar, low sodium. Loved the chicken marsala, chicken picata, pork loin, beef stew. would like to pick vegetables! don't like pickled beet slaw nor egg plant. Husband on blood thinners so limits dark greens like snap peas, broccoli and green beans. breakfast items not worth the price for that size portion! we added toast or English muffin. Salmon OK but scraped off mustard dill sauce.
You can buy better tasting, nutritious meals at the store for a lot less money than Silver Cuisine. There is no way to track your order. I made both of my purchases (both over $100) thru MyPoints and have never received any points from Silver Cuisine. The whole thing seems like a bit of a scam for older people.
Purchased about 8 meals from Silver Cuisine for my in-laws for something different after 3 years of receiving Freshly meals. I thought they would appreciate a change from Freshly but they said the Silver Cuisine meals were terrible - tasteless and the protein tough. Disappointed but we all now appreciate Freshly that much more.
I ordered about 10 items for my elderly father and we've tried about half of them and none were very edible. The fish is dry and chewy/tough (like chewing on leather). The sausage has a horrible tough texture, and the eggs were also overcooked and dry. When I emailed to get a refund I was told that different people have different tastes, suggested we use salt and garlic to season it, and they would not refund or give a discount. I'm sorry but no one has a taste for overcooked, dry and chewy fish. Their food quality is low and it is a shame that they are not doing a better job for seniors who may not be as likely to complain. But I don't recommend this service at all.
I used bistroMD for a few weeks I tried to cancel multiple times. I was 1 day past the deadline to pick your meals but the order was not going to ship for 4 days. When I tried to explain to them that I did not want the meals as it is not worth 15 dollars a meal, and I couldn't really afford it. The customer service person had no response besides their pre typed responses telling me I was too late. These are frozen meals... So you would think they could keep the meals that were in my order frozen and send them to the next customer as everyone has the same menu options. They have zero compassion for people and over charge and have no wiggle room. Will not be using again, customer service is one of the most important things to me, HelloFresh for example has great customer service all around.
One of the common words you will find in many of the reviews is "tasteless." I would agree. We had used Freshly previously, but their deliverables tend to be overwhelmed with spices and seasoning, nonetheless, it has mouth appeal. Switched to Silver Cuisine and the pendulum swung way too far in the other direction. Most meals fall into the 320-350 calorie range, and I get healthy eating, but these are so bland, the veggies so worn, and excessive water packaged in with them, that out of 12 different entrees we haven't hit one yet that we said "Ohh that was good, we have to reorder that." It's more like, have the salt shaker and Spike handy, you're going to need it. Today had the Tenderloin with Olive Tapenade and broccoli. The broccoli was lame, felt like it came out of a dumpster, the meat I'm not sure it was meat, the rice and the Tapenade residue was, well, it got scraped into the disposal. The pictures they show of each dinner are nice, but the reality is you'll be looking for a ham sandwich to get rid of the bland taste left in your mouth. Portions are small, veggies are limp and lame, and the entire dish is bland and tasteless. Haven't found one yet we would re-order, wouldn't even eat it if it was free. I'd rather make a fresh salad than try to choke down another one of these. They honestly don't deliver on taste at all. If you're a masochist when it comes to food, you'll love it, normal people are going to blanch at it. Just tasteless.
I may be jumping ahead of myself here, I haven't even received my first shipment yet. So I will be posting an update. May 6 2020, It was very easy to scroll through and pick meals based on my dietary needs. There is such a large variety that I may have overdone it. But with the AARP members discount and the about $99 free shipping I didn't do much damage to my purse. Since I've been isolating since early March I've grown tired of cooking and dishes, and I'm not risking restaurants so.....to be continued.
A few of the meals have been good but many are tasteless. I usually order 4 or 5 meals at a time. I keep trying different ones. Usually out of 1 order there is only 1 meal that I would order again
The food was a life saver not only in this crisis, but because at my age it is hard for me to cook every day.
Perfect menu for all types of diets. My husband loves them. There have only been a few he did not care for but is natural for everybody.I am asking that you put in other green vegetables like peas, corn mixed vegetables and other various other side dishes. The menus you have are A++++
Food is very good, however sometimes the vegetables are mushy in order to get the food. Many times the sauces that are supposed to be on the food is lacking (not enough).
trying different meals. some better than others.
I am 67 y/o and newly diagnosed diabetic. I live alone and find cooking to be not only something I no longer desire to do, but have recently had a shoulder replacement surgery making going out to shop nearly impossible. I found that most of the food I was purchasing was going to waste or I was not eating in a healthy manner. BistroMD Silver Cuisine has been a lifesaver for me, and I can choose a diabetic friendly menu. The meals are delicious (things I would never prepare for myself alone), healthy and fullfilling. The cost, though difficult at times, is made possible because of not having to shop for many other things, and not wasting food. I am also in better health after using this service for the past year which has helped with medical issues.
