Very unhappy about gift card conditions

When I went to spend my gift card it had expired. Wouldn't give me a refund or another card. This is stealing!!

Customer service extended the validity

A family member passed away having not used the gift card. Unfortunately it expired the very day we checked the balance online. HTA kindly sent a new card with 1 year extra validity. This arrived within 2 days. Customer service were very understanding.

DON'T BUY!!

We were gifted a £70 voucher. Searched on the HTA website and found that Stubbings, Maidenhead our local garden centre accepted the voucher. When we got there they wouldn't take the voucher and said weren't taking them until January. Contacted HTA to ask them to remove Stubbings from their website until January. Said they would and it would take 48 hours to do so. 4 days later it is still showing as a Garden centre where you can exchange them. Poor poor poor!

HTA lacking any compassion

Purchased a £30 gift voucher for my mum for Christmas. Lockdown meant garden centres were closed for a long time, then my mum became ill with cancer and died. The voucher has recently expired and I asked for just a one month extension. In a curt email, I was told no. Very disappointed and will never purchase an HTA voucher ever again.

Very poor service

I was given a gift card just before the first covid lockdown so was unable to use it. Once things opened up again I found my nearest centre that accepted cards was over 30 miles away. The card recently expired without my being able to use it and the scheme administrators refused to consider an extension. I'd advise anyone against using the scheme.

I received HTA Vouchers from my family…

I received HTA Vouchers from my family in 2020 and lost a lot of usage time during double lockdowns. The vouchers purchased in Feb 2020 which HTA say has a three year usage period had an expiry date of 31/12/21.I was told that the two centres who sold them were selling old style paper vouchers according to HTA .I sent photos on request of HTA of the vouchers and sale date with a copy of the bank statement of the purchase of one . Rebecca from HTA refused to honour them as my family members could not provide the till receipts from two years ago.So £50 they have for nothing. From the reviews and media comments millions of pounds have been lost by this sort of practice, I lost £30 from camping and caravan club vouchers when I wanted to use themhaving been unable to during lockdowns.HTA and camping and caravan club customer relations have shamefully profited from family gifts by not honouring them and using pathetic excuses for their reasons. How many people keep sales receipts over two years after giving gift vouchers? The answer? Don’t buy them and inform friends and family to do likewise. I will be content not to receive them just to be assured their well meant gifts will not be scammed into unscrupulous businesses coffers.

I would personally give no stars if that was an option.I have 15.00 worth of vouchers that have expired and i have emailed and escalated it to a senior member(haha)Had to wait for there decision lolBut no nothing basically hard luck! They have had the money for these so i dont see why they cannot honour them due to unforseen things that have happened on the last 2 yrs.So my advice is not to buy from this company.Customer service is non existent

Mugged

Very sad to say that I feel total mugged… I know that there is a time limit in the t&c!!! But let’s face it there has been a pandemic and the shops have been shut for some of that time so to be out by 1 month of the expiry date is a little harsh and not to be excepted, then told by costumer service that nothing can be done is very poor… shame on you!!!! This was a gift for my dad for Father’s Day… !

Please avoid buying these gift cards...

Unfortunately I have received same experience as many others - unable to use the card due to local garden centres and nurseries not accepting the card voucher, only the paper ones - and neither during Covid lockdowns. In theory these are a really lovely gift to give someone, but the 'card' vouchers I have discovered to my own cost are not accepted by many venues, and during Covid many of their 'partner' would not accept the voucher due to the costs to collect their money from the retailer being to expensive. So unfortunately it means I am left with a £30 voucher which cannot be used, and a generic no I can't help you or give any customer service from the team on their ironically called 'Help Line'.My recommendation, avoid purchasing these as the only benefactor is the HTA who sell these unusable vouchers.

Awful Customer Service

Wouldn’t give them any stars if that were possible! I have tried unsuccessfully to use a gift card for £35 which I received for my Birthday in 2019. At the time I was recuperating from a cancer operation and then subsequently with lockdown etc I wasn’t able to get out to use the card for many months. It expires tomorrow and I tried using it in December but the nursery(one on their list of retailers) could not process it. I tried again last weekend and was told that the card was invalid. I’ve had the same unhelpful response from customer services at HTA as everyone else appears to receive so assume I will have to give up on it like so many other unfortunate people. I certainly will tell everyone I know never to purchase these vouchers

Got an e voucher of £150

Got an e voucher of £150. I can't use it in 3 gardening centres that are on their list. On ofvthem agreed to use it but I had to spend everything in there.Customer service is poor. They just give you another phone number to call. In the shop the staff don't know how to use it, forming huge queues behind you.I've asked the evoucher to be transferred on a gift card hopping will be easier to spend it, but no, this can't be done.

I received a garden voucher for my 70th birthday during lockdown. I tried to use it today to find it had expired 1 week ago.Negative unhelpful response from Bev kto my email to them quoting Terms and Conditions! 1 week out of date and they couldn’t offer me anything?£40 or £50 down the drain.I will never buy these gift cards ever again.

My mum had a gift voucher with 3 weeks…

My mum had a gift voucher with 3 weeks left on it. But was not able to get out to spend it due to ill health. So i phoned up the help center. A very nice lady told me not a problem once the gift voucher had run out on 11th October we could phone up and they would put a extra 6 months on due to covid. So phoned up the help center on the 18th October twice to be told the same story that the over of an extra 6 months run out end of September. So thanks to the staff giving wrong information we lost just over £16. Will never by a gift card here again.

HTA are Crooks - do not buy their vouchers

My husband and I went from Yorkshire to Surrey last October (2020). A dear friend of over 40 years had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. We stayed for 6 weeks until his death at the end of November. I did all the cooking, my husband did jobs around the house, skip runs etc., and generally helped his family cope. As a Christmas gift our friend's widow sent us an HTA gift card for £200. I wanted a statue for our garden in memory of our friend, and a perfect one was available at our local garden centre - they only do the paper vouchers though, not the cards. On contacting HTA they do not issue paper vouchers for cards over £100 in value, it has to be approved by a director. Many telephone calls and emails later we were getting nowhere fast. We also had a £30 card dated March 2021 but they didn't convert that to paper vouchers either!! I emailed their complaints department and a very curt email from "Steff" informed me that it would be 25 days for a response as their Out of Office reply clearly stated. There was no such email response. They are horrible people . After visiting various garden centres three of them told us they would not be renewing membership with them, Because of Covid so many paper vouchers and cards were out of date and they would not honour them. A friend had her eye on some garden furniture at her local centre and offered to buy the card from us at face value as she was going to get the furniture anyway. I was grateful and happy to accept her offer and offloaded the card to her. Their Director's Report registered with Companies House makes interesting reading - a very high percentage of their revenue comes from unredeemed vouchers!! Give your loved ones a cheque or do a bank transfer - avoid these people at all costs. They are not worth the aggrevation.

I gave 1 star as there is no option to…

I gave 1 star as there is no option to give none! As other reviewers have stated HTA garden gift vouchers will not be extended under any circumstances. This is outrageous, they have taken money from people to enable gifts of choice to be purchased. They are quids in whilst us supposed recipients have nothing! Where has all that money gone? Please, if you are considering purchasing garden vouchers - DON’T! Just buy a plant instead, at least the intended recipient will have something to show for it and your money will not have been totally wasted! My family spent £50 on vouchers which I have not been allowed to use. I asked if they could be extended, they kept me waiting for a month and still replied “No”

Very disappointing...

Having read all the other reviews I have to completely agree. Vouchers expired at the end of 2020, but we were unable to spend them due to the Covid-19 lockdown. The Government advice was to STAY AT HOME! How come HTA tell us we could have spent them as garden centres were open? Very disappointed indeed and certainly won't recommend them to anyone.

Following on from all the other…

Following on from all the other reviews, they have an expiration date and the company will not move on this even in the middle of a world wide pandemic. The values and morals of this company are terrible

Do not buy

Do not buy - these vouchers have an expiry date and there is no grace period unlike that given by many other businesses at the moment. You might as well just burn cash instead...Also terrible customer service - rude and then just put the phone down on you after making you hold for ages.
