Garden building installation

This company Insisted full cost paid up front before work would start. Bad mistake of mine to accept this condition. Design specification seemed clear at first but shown later to be misleading and bad so much that preparatory work was judged by them to be inadequate and on site work was not allowed to start. Once site arrangements were altered to meet their updated approval standards they demanded a large additional fee in advance before erection team were allowed to return to proceed. Communication language from their so-called Customer Service Manager during this period were disrespectful and aggressive. Finished product is acceptable but I cannot recommend this company. Buyer beware and ensure when purchasing that all specification details are clear and understood.

Brilliant product and great service.

Brilliant product and great service.I've had my garden office since 2017 and love it. It's a great place to work, adding much needed and useful extra space without needing building work to the house. Last month I had to contact Nordic regarding maintenance. From Mike the technical contact, to the office who arranged the appointment and Liam who carried out the work, all were efficient, professional and helpful.Would highly recommend.

I had a garden room installed in 2019

I had a garden room installed in 2019. A few weeks ago I noticed that one of the glazed units kept fogging up but would then clear. On checking the guarantee it states that the building has a 10year guarantee and the glazing 5 years. I checked the installation date and there was one day to go before the guarantee expired.I contacted Nordic by email and was asked to send photos, which I did. They agreed immediately that a new unit was required, no quibbles.Tracy from Modplan , who supply the glazing, contacted me to arrange the fitting. She kept me up to date at every stage. This morning Jason came to fit the unit, very polite and courteous. He even fixed the door that I had been able to manage but found awkward. I did not need to ask. From both companies I have received the best customer service possible. I would highly recommend them.

Choices

I've ordered a garden building seeing display in a garden centre. They have different company for the concrete base installation, separate cost, needs a survey and bookings. It didn't go quite as planned because the manufacturer didn't have enough materials shipped from abroad and many months of delay. They didn't apologised properly nor any compensation that they insisted it was out of their control. After many months almost a year since my order, of frustration, finally pre-fabricated building installed in one day. It is a beautiful UPVC and full height double grazed glass construction with good insulation, 3 by 4 meter size within permitted development so you don't need planning permission generally. After about a year of using I found spiders getting in from hidden nooks. For a very expensive building it doesn't have any consideration for putting in electrical wiring for lighting, sockets, heating from its engineering design at all. It can be useful all year round but it's uncomfortable in winter and summer. I have to wear thick jacket and room shoes, not so fine using laptop or painting in cold weather. I enjoy watching birds, foxes in my garden though. I am thinking getting off-grid solar power on its roof, but finding good installer and electrician plus costs is annoying. And pre-fabricated UPVC looking perfectly fitted doesn't give room to fit and hide wiring in my eyes. I am still researching trustworthy solar power suppliers. Nowadays with post pandemic era, I need to use this for workshop, studio, office, relaxing garden building with benefits of electrical mod cons. Many other such companies seem to making better spec models with sockets pre-installed. What material is up to individuals choice, wood, composit, UPVC etc but one must be aware that with UK climate and level of light or temperature or availability of (solar) electricity inside is important whatever the purposes you are going to use. These can be dismantled and built again elsewhere if you move. I found that they offer free base installation nowadays. I feel unfair. I don't have plan to move to take the advantage. Don't judge them by appearances. Look around as different types as possible.
