Cancel you Direct Debit just in case.

We were told in May that the company U.K. Televom had been sold and that Orange was the provider not SFR. We contacted U.K. Televom by email and were told “mid-September”. That came and went, no service. Then told to fill in questionnaire as “so many people had expressed interest”. Did that and waited.Still nothing after 5 months and now all emails to both U.K. Telecom and Extension One are bounced back as “undeliverable” even though everything is EXACTLY right. Phone number no longer works so I suspect the entire company has gone out of business.Advertising Standards might be appropriate, as would Trading Standards for U.K. and ARCep for France. Our number is now described as “not attributed” if try ringing, so sounds like all has crashed. I suspect care needs to be taken as of course, they have all details including bank account…….What a shame as they gave good service until May of this year but obviously no longer provide ANY service. Cancel your Direct Debit as a point of safety - that MIGHT provoke them to contact , but I doubt it.

We had a UK Telecom Satellite in our French cottage for ages, and it gave good service. It was bit slow, but it was reliable: much better than the crackly old landline which simply would not work. We were in France five weeks ago, and it was still working happily. We came back this week and it has gone tits up. Can't contact UK Telecom, they appear to be out of business. Extension One do not have a workable telephone or email presence. Once I'm back in the UK I will be cancelling by DD and looking for another supplier. Extension One are obviously a gang of shysters and scammers who will take you money and run.

After too many weeks to count without a phone or broadband and more than enough excuses from UKTelecom I cancelled the account.Well would you believe it, after 5 months they are now saying “we are now able to connect you”. Glad I moved to another supplier, this company is run by comedians😂

You only have to see other comments made regards this service to find out just how bad this company is. All these people cannot be wrong! My personal experience is identical to everyone else's. If you consider the many other customers who haven't taken to feedback as Trustpilot but just as dissatisfied, then I guess it numbers thousands? Not just bad but amazingly inept. Never ever think of using them and by responses made to me, they don't want you anyway!

Avoid

Not only have we not had internet/phone for two months, they also owe us money (they admit) for service we paid for but didn't get.No updates/replies/help, as if they have given up running a service.Avoid.

Gladly we have left and moved to Free

Sadly we have left and moved to Free. It's cheaper and we get more. Having been with UKt since 2011, we've always had good service until recently. After 21/06/2012 we could not get phone or internet. in spite of asking for text or mobile phone updates they kept sending emails which I could only read in friends homes or Macdonalds carparks. The last straw was 20/07 email we received at a friends house saying we wouldn't be reconnected on 22/07 as promised and we could go elsewhere. We did 23/07 we went to Free and received everything for reconnection of 27/07. They managed in 5 days what UKt couldn't manage in 5 weeks+ however long it could be.

Zero service since Takeover

Like most other recent reviewers I am sorely disappointed with UK Telecom this year. Before that they were perfectly satisfactory.Since the planned move to Orange (away from SFR) my line has been cut off (sorry -"suspended"), with Orange apparently saying that the delays are due to "holiday period in France". Really - who could have foreseen a holiday period in France around July 14th,,I am unable to move to another suppler as my telephone number is not recognised, and they only recognise the street, not the house! No internet. No phone. No sign of any restitution or compensation

Beyond Poor

We have been customers of UK Telecom for many years and they provided an excellent service throughout. Now, since the company has been sold to Extension 1, the service has collapse into non-existence. In early July, we discovered we could no longer make any outgoing calls to either France or UK. Eventually, we found the company had been sold and a new phone contact number was given, 0151 433 2750. On phoning this number, an employee told us that we should have received notification that our provider was being switched from SFR to Orange and there would be brief disruption to service. On enquiring how long this would be, we were told that all would be reconnected on 22 Jul, but if we’d like to switch supplier, the company would not hold us to contract. Today, 26 Jul, there is still no phone connection. I fear the change of ownership and supplier has causes the complete collapse of UK Telecom. My advice would be, to avoid this company at all costs, there are other suppliers. Despite their smart website telling you how good they are, this is worthless garbage and totally misleading. I will be writing to Ofcom and to the Advertising Standards authority to complain about UK Telecom/Extension 1

UK telecom was brilliant until….

UK telecom was brilliant until recently. They saved us from the gross incompetence and failures of SFR and FT/Orange several years ago and were fine until recently. They appear to have been taken over or sold to a bunch of incompetent carpetbaggers, or have been sabotaged by SFR who, like Orange, are utter rotters.I feel sorry for the employees, and the customers like me. They appear to have been in administration for some time.I note from revues that all French internet providers seem to have 80 to 90 percent bad 1 star reviews and are linked to the Orange/SFR axis of evil

Hopeless

Like many other reviewers I was a UK Telecom customer for a number of years without problems but then on 21st June 2021 received an email saying: "Since our earlier email, we have received enquiries from many previous UK Telecom customers enquiring how long a new connection would take. We are currently guided that 21-days is the expected time period - although this will depend on your area."I had not in fact received the earlier email so 21st June was the first I heard about the disconnection. The 21 day timescale suggested 12th July for re-connection. On 24th June I was told via email that it would be 28 days implying 22nd July. This was confirmed by telephone as 23rd July but then today I received an email saying basically "we don't have a clue when you will be connected". I called again and was told to email my exact location to tech support for an area by area update o when re-connection would take place. The response was - Move to another supplier!I will.

Unbelievably poor. Do not use!

Prior to being sold, this company provided significantly overpriced phone and broadband service to British property owners in France. The service was atrocious as all they did was resell existing telecoms services from a french provider. Zero value add except the premium price. Now they have been acquired the service has got worse! A planned complete outage for a month or more! I have cancelled.

Customer for 5 years, got email saying that they were changing service providers due to SFR not reducing their prices and giving poor service, changeover will take up to14 days,Orange will be the new service provider, email stated that further information will be provided. Then suddenly cut off and left with nothing, using mobile phone managed to email them eventually got a reply (as they were not answering phones, and number listed was an O2 mobile number found main landline number that was not answered but had a message that said when your call gets to top of queue we will call you back,no response in 3 days!) to the third email sent which said that no service for 28 days,so got rid of them very quickly, looks like its a deliberate ploy to close the company down.Awful customer service, instant reply to mail cancelling contract so they are very prepared for this,no apology nothing to try and keep me as a customer, absolutely nothing at all, avoid do not use them!

Always had good service til the new…

Always had good service til the new owners took over recently and now... Total disaster. With a 'promise' of improved service we went from emails from named personnel who would take responsibility to deal with any problems (service down because of broken cable after storm for example) to anonymously signed 'UKtelecom'. They cancelled their contract with their supplier SFR without having any proper arrangements in place with their alternative supplier. Result we are to be without service for a full 28 days. Another email promising a "guaranteed reply within one hour during office hours" and no reply at all within a full working day!!! We were customers for 12 years with the old owners and on cancelling now with the new owners, a mere message confirming the cancellation... no regrets, no apology, no attempt to put things right... What a shambolic ending!

Another customer cut-off for 28 days…

Another customer cut-off for 28 days with no notice, strangely only one working day after they took payment from my bank! Like other reviewers, service has been declining for a long time and requests for technical help or a router upgrade (which I offered to pay for) fell on deaf ears… terrible service from a terrible company - I suspect a second insolvency of the business very soon

DO NOT USE UKTelecom. Terrible service since takeover.

I have been a customer for 7+ years. The service for the first 5 years was exemplary. Since then, everything has gone to pot -- poor speeds, poor customer service, faults not fixed, etc. Events in the past week have made me decide to quit UKTelecom. My service was cut off with little notice -- not for a few hours but for 28 days.My house if France is let out and no internet would mean very poor reviews. I have been forced to buy a 4G solution which will cost me at least €100.

Awful Customer Service

Awful Customer Service, whatever you do, don’t sign up with them. After paying my bill they have just cut off my internet and phone connection without telling me. They said it will take 28 days to restore the services, and I can switch to a new provider if I can’t afford to sit in the dark for a month! In a world when most of us can’t survive a day without an internet connection, to be cut off for a month with zero notice is appalling customer service. They must be trying really hard to get rid of all their customers!!
