Deceptive promotional sale of insurance warranty

enrolled Sept 2024. plan 683082028Misleading of insurance warranty. The product was sold to be by a sales person that offered a special promotional discount. It was made crystal clear that the promotional terms would be ongoing as long as I did not cancel the contract - this was the main selling point. I specifically remember this point and it was the primary reason I took up the offer.Opened the account about 18 months ago, randomly checked my account and noticed that it was charging a much higher number amount for the last 6 months. I called them and they claimed the promotion was for the 1st year only and at renewal you have reverted to the full price.Straight deception .. no other way to put it. Will not deal with these thieves ever again.

Misdiagnosed Furnace Issue and Denied Coverage

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from American Home Shield. My furnace stopped working properly, and AHS sent a technician who barely inspected anything and told me “nothing was wrong.” That turned out to be completely false. I had to hire my own technician, who immediately found that the damper was not working. When I called AHS back, they sent a second technician who claimed a “component was missing” from my furnace and used that as a reason to deny coverage. My home is 14 years old, and this is the same furnace that has been working all these years with nothing missing. It’s unbelievable that AHS would blame a “missing part” instead of acknowledging the real issue. Because the first tech dismissed the problem, I kept turning on my thermostat thinking everything was fine. I later learned that running the furnace while the damper is not working can cause even more damage. AHS’s failure to diagnose the issue properly put my system at risk and left me with additional repair costs.I am disgusted by the lack of accountability, the poor quality of the technicians they send, and the way they avoid covering legitimate repairs. After this experience, it’s clear it’s time for me to shop around for a different home warranty company and trust me, I am taking all my family and friends with me.

HORRIBLE company

HORRIBLE company. Avoid at all cost. They have a $125 service charge just to come look at something (companies you call on your own do estimates for free), and when they deny coverage they use the blanket statement of “preexisting condition”, which can be said about just anything when you bought a home from someone else. Completely useless company.

After over 25 years with AHS

After over 25 years with AHS, I am regularly dismayed by the poor customer service provided by this company. Their employees are clearly reading from scripts and have no actual understanding of the issues a customer might be facing.

As a home owner u never know when crazy…

As a home owner u never know when crazy things are gonna happen so I signed up for American Home Shield last year for peace of mind. I had heard good things about them. Fast forward and our roof started leaking. I was able to easily file a claim. The company that came out were AMAZING guys. They got us all squared away. He even had great things to say about (AHS). I am so glad we signed up and I’ll definitely recommend them to any home owner.

Over the Holiday Scare

My first experience started out on a scary note but ended perfectly! When I reached out to them, my questions were answered immediately and fairly. I am a very happy consumer!

A worthless warranty for any appliance…

A worthless warranty for any appliance you rely on. Just spoke with them about a washing machine repair. The repair company will be out for their 4th visit one month from the time of the initial breakdown. American Home Shield will not even consider providing another repair company or declaring the washing machine unrepairable. It is only unrepairable when the technician says it is unrepairable. So with the service call fee and laundry expense I will spend more than it cost to just replace the washing machine. AHS even said on the phone the average open service item was open for 2 to 3 months. Useless for appliances.

I'm contracted with them but they can't…

I'm contracted with them but they can't find a plumber in my area that will work with them. I had to find my own and I got ripped off. They should not contract customers if they don't already have coverage.

Horrible

Horrible. They won't fix my issue of a leaking valve. Why should you make business w them if they do not resolve, fix. Unsatisfactory.

Extremely Difficult to give non-renewal notice — Poor Customer Experience

My experience trying to cancel my American Home Shield service has been absolutely ridiculous extremely frustrating. So much so, that I am contacting a state agency to file a complaint.I made multiple good-faith attempts to provide notice of non-renewal, including sending four separate emails to customer service. None of those emails were ever acknowledged or answered. When I attempted to cancel by phone, the automated voice system repeatedly misrouted my request, and I experienced excessive hold times. After finally getting through, I was transferred multiple times despite, received multiple incentives to not cancel all after I clearly stated that I did not want any retention offers and simply wanted to not renew my service contract. This process felt unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming. Cancellation should be straightforward, especially when a customer clearly communicates their intent not to renew.I hope American Home Shield improves its cancellation process and responsiveness to customer communications. At minimum, written cancellation requests should receive timely acknowledgment. Some state agencies have sued AHS because of fraud, misrepresentations and kickbacks. There difficult cancelation process should be on the list. Sirus XM was sued by New York for the same cancellation practices AHS practices. Cancellation should be at least as easy of the enrollment process.

After being a customer for one year and…

After being a customer for one year and paying them consistently, I can honestly say American Home Shield is not professional at all.During the time I actually needed them, they sent the worst technicians. The issues were never properly fixed. Instead of solving the problem, they kept charging additional service fees. One repair they did failed again right after the 30-day period. The dishwasher they “fixed” was never truly repaired. In fact, the situation became worse. When I contacted customer service, they basically told me they are not responsible. After paying for a full year, this is extremely disappointing. Please do not contract with them. Save your money and find a company that stands behind their service and takes responsibility for their work.

Once I contacted AHS with the issue…

Once I contacted AHS with the issue they got on it right away without lot of roadblocks etc. Someone contacted the same day and asked for certain information about the issue and then a service company was assigned and they contacted me to setup an appointment to handle the problem. Quick easy courteous service and professional communication. The issue was resolved and equipment replaced within 4 days including weekend. Outstanding customer service and customer care

It was effortless

It was effortless to request the service, and the communication from you was great. Sears took a little longer than we wanted, but completed the repair and the dishwasher is back to normal!

One star for one year of decent…

One star for one year of decent service. 9 subsequent years of expensive lies, poor providers, rude service, creepy repair people, significant raising of prices and refusal to honor the extras we paid for. Complete bait and switch provider. Do not do it. My only regret is keeping them as long as I did,

I have absolutely had it with American…

I have absolutely had it with American Home shield. We have had American Home shield since 2022. It was originally $74 a month; today we were charged $182 this month. They have raised their rates while lowering their quality of service. Furthermore, anytime you have to service request, you have to go through 5 minutes of automated prompts. When you are eventually transferred after the automation, you are transferred to a customer representative who is outsourced to a foreign country. Most of the time you can barely understand what they’re saying. I literally pray for an American while I’m going through automation. I’ve yet to get an American citizen I have no idea why this company has called AMERICAN Home shield. There’s nothing American about it. They literally have a survey at the end of the call, asking if you could understand the person’s English.I’m not going to go through ALL the problems we’ve had over last past four years, but the last service request took from September 24 to January 20 to be resolved. We were told that we were going to be compensated for this inconvenience…they have yet to compensate us a month later after calling them twice about it. We are changing companies ASAP!Do yourself a service, pick a different Warranty company!

Customer service sucks!!!!

Tried to cancel online with their chat box and once i finally got someone they said it could only be handled by phone. The chat person continued to pressure to stay. Tried to call and I got a person (once i said i pressed the right prompt t get a new policy) then transferred to a number that i am still waiting on hold for going on 1 hr and 15 minutes. If i wanted to stay i wouldn't after this experience. Customer service sucks!
