Unfair Fuel Charge and Very Poor Customer Service
I rented a car with Goldcar in Gran Canaria and had a very bad experience. According to their policy, the car had to be returned with a full tank. I refueled the car completely just 10 km before the airport and drove straight there. Despite this, the staff claimed the tank was not full — even though the dashboard clearly showed enough fuel for 800 km.The staff at the airport was rude and unhelpful. I was told that unless I went back to refuel again, I would be charged a €50 penalty. Since I was in a hurry to catch my flight, I had no choice but to accept the charge. I felt pressured and unfairly treated.I feel scammed, and I will never use Goldcar again. I strongly advise others to stay away from this company.

cheated by Carrental
Going for a few days in Croatia, I did decide to rent a car.I did discover the hard way that this rental company has no car and is only a broker supporting crooksI did make the rental with Carrental.com which company addressed me to the Goldcar agency in Dubrovnik. With Carrental I bought a full coverage insurance to avoid the obligation to make a deposit of € 1,250.The cost was € 44.80.Arriving in Dubrovnik on the evening of April 07 2024, I have been cheated by the Goldcar people as they refused to accept the full insurance except if I made the € 1,250 deposit what is not usual practice when you have a full insurance. I could not accept that solution. The solution they had was very simple: buy our insurance and just make a €300 deposit. The full cost of this insurance was € 157.00 or € 102.20 more than my original insurance. When I returned the car, I declared that I had a small accident while reversing in a narrow street to make place for a truck coming in front. They requested a deposit of €62.50 to release the initial deposit of € 300 under the excuse that I had a small damage at a place where a damage was declared when I took the car. . According to the copy I have,, the full insurance provided in Dubrovnic had a waiver for any deposit. They did cash the € 62.50 deposit and refuse to refund it. I just received a picture showing that one week ago, the damage was not repaired.(July 17)I have been arguing with Carrental about the refund, but they refuse to accept their responsibility as the contractor for the rental and refuse to refund me the € 102.20 +€ 62.50.. They find as an excuse that I must handle the problem with Goldcar which in fact is a third party in the rental agreement we had

Stay away from carrentals.com
I have used airportrentals.com and rentalcars.com and never had an issue. Tried carrentals.com as they had a good rental price but then their terms and conditions were terrible - over double the cost of your rental for MANDATORY insurance. NEVER USE CARRENTALS.COM use others like airportrentals.

I advise people to book directly with…
I advise people to book directly with car company, and avoid intermediates like carrental.com. i payed in advance what i thought was a competitive rate for car and insurance, only to find i had to pay additional insurance with the actual car hire firm, wiber, which made it a very expensive car hire. Having booked this so far in advance with carrentals, and paying way over the odds for my car hire, i was very disappointed with their service, they should be clearer what the total hire price is going to be.

Nightmare
Nightmare, after booking car through easyJet I have provided flight number. EasyJet should share that information with car rental provider in case my flight is delayed. And of course they didn't. Car rental company said that I need to pay extra 140£ for a different car since they had no idea that my flight was delayed so they rented to someoneelse. EasyJet denied liability.

The worst booking experience I've ever had
I booked a car through this company. My trip changed, so I had to cancel.I never got a confirmation email from the company, so I couldn't cancel automatically through the website. When I called to try to cancel, it funnelled me to a LifeAlert sales line (no matter what number I pressed). When I expressed my frustration, it said that my call would be "more appropriate for an adult call" and transferred me to an adult call centre to meet singles in my area. I hung up at this point. Their chat function doesn't work on their website, so you can't cancel that way.Basically, they're a seedy, shady company that takes your money and gives you no way to return it. I'm not sure if I would have even had a car if I had gone on my trip.

stay away from this company
when I booked a car through carrental.com, they indicated that the price quoted contained all minimum insurance. when I went to the Hertz counter to check in, they said the price did not include the minimum insurance which made the cost of the rental 80% more expensive. Carrental.com is a scam and nobody should use their service.

Booked a van months out and the night…
Booked a van months out and the night before pickup was contacted us saying there was no van available. They as well had no other vehicles that could accommodate our family of 6. This was during busy summer season in FL so I finally found one at double the cost given last minute booking. This company then proceeded to never refund me more than $185 of my $500 deposit for the car they did not deliver and great inconvenience they caused us during our trip. After me spending hours trying to contact them for a refund. They should be investigated. Stay away!!

How do they get away with it?
When I found that Carrentals was affiliated to Booking.com I felt confident, as my experience with booking.com has been first class. How wrong can you be. Carrentals is nothing but a scam company that rips off its customers as is evident by its rating on TrustPilot. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANOTHER COMPANY WITH 100% BADThis is my experience:
We booked and paid for a week’s car hire for our trip to Nice.Unfortunately the first leg of our two leg flight was delayed and resulted in our missing the connection. We tried to ring Carrentals, without a successful resolution. Naively I thought we would be able to pick up the car the next day. But that is not how they work. They put it down as a “no show” and keep all the money we had paid. I just couldn’t believe they could do that. The delay was totally out of our control and yet, if you are not on time - for whatever reason - they keep your all the money.
They might be cheaper that booking direct but they will make you pay one way or another. Don’t think you will be the one who gets it cheaper. THE GAMBLE IS NOT WORTH IT.

Terrible customer service
I have been on hold for roughly 2 hours, trying to cancel my booking for a car at theAtlanta airport. No way to cancel online. I’d be happy to pay the $55 late cancellation fee but can’t get this company to respond via phone or multiple emails. Terrible customer service

bad service
I am trying for the last 4 days to change dates on my a reservation, filed a complaint and received emails telling me to call the company, no phone number is provided. The 1800 does not permit making any changes. Service is real bad! I will not use this company again.

Completely unacceptable
Completely unacceptable. I used this site as a first time customer for personal car rentals. Upon booking I was told I would receive unlimited miles and the price of the vendor selected was $10 cheaper a day than other competitors. I looked up reviews on the car company I was renting from and they were relatively poor but the bottom line was to make sure you read through all the documents prior to signing as they were great at adding additional charges. I went through everything with a fine tooth comb, clicked purchase, prepaid and then received a confirmation email stating details already relayed as well as look at the companies policies of the car company I had selected. I read through these as well following the due diligence the reviews had advised come to find out it was not unlimited. I called the car service provider thinking this might just be a standard form and did not relay to my rental and they confirmed additional fees would apply. I called to cancel the order with Car Rentals and explained the situation and to my disbelief Car Rentals confirmed they were aware of this and had several complaints of similar nature in the past and would be willing to offer a limited reimbursement but an administrative fee would apply. I cannot believe they would not make this knowledge accessible to the user PRIOR to booking and furthermore had the audacity to charge an administrative fee. When I went on to inquire what companies actually had unlimited mileage I was told they were few and far between and not offered ANY company to book from yet ALL of their car companies they use state clearly there is unlimited mileage. I thought that it was just the car company not clearly communicating with the site but I am baffled to hear that it is the site itself that intentionally hides the additional charges to make you feel as though you are getting a good rate. Word to the wise, if you are fooled call and cancel the card with your credit card company. You shouldn't have to pay this scam site a dime especially during a time of bereavement such as mine.

Be careful to check conditions
Be very careful to check alll conditions - like, where you need to pick-up you car? In some Airports you need to be picked up by local rep. from other company and go to some local office to pick-up you car. The local rep. was sitting outside the Airport in a car! In a crowded airport this car can be very difficult to spot/find, when you do not have any detailed info on where to find it. I only found it by help from local representatives from another car-rental agency. This model is very time consuming, inconvenient and tiresome. When you finally arrive to the local car -rental office, you are asked to consider/buy extra insurance, because the local rental company only has a base-agreement with carrental.com, where you need to pay for damages first and then get money from carrental.com on request, when you return. This means the full insurance that carrentals.com is offering you - is basically useless! I paid for it upfront/on booking, but still had to pay out a full deposit of €2000 on arrival. Not a reservation on my creadit card, but a full payout. it is unacceptable. In general - the conditions offered are clear if you remember to read everything in small writting, but this is exactly what you should not need to do - it is very tiresome. The rental model is basically too inconvenient. From now on, we will only book with a car-rental company that has a local office and representatives as well as pick-up directly in the airport. We will make sure to call the local office to check everything before we book anything.
