Carwiser? More like CarUnwiser. Deceptive Marketing Tactics
Carwiser’s marketing tactics include reaching out to people who have their car listed on Craigslist. They pretend to be someone asking for the vehicle owners’s phone number to discuss more details about the car, only to reach out via text a few days later still pretending to be an interested buyer, but ultimately revealing their intentions and sending a link to carwiser’s website. Would you trust a company that employs these kinds of deceptive tactics and lies willingly? Their scheme:- Find a vehicle listed on Craigslist - Email the owner under the false pretense of being interested (in this case, the fake name Joe Hearshman)- Ask for the owner’s phone number under the false pretense of wanting to call the owner to get more information about the vehicle - Wait a couple days to send a text message to lower chances of people making the connection between the email and the text message - Avoid signing the text message with the name originally provided in the email for the same reason - Further pretend that they’re asking for information about the vehicle - Finally reveal themselves as carwiser by introducing themselves as Brooke and sending a link to their website
