My experience was difficult at first…
My experience was difficult at first because the lack of communication with the second team you put on my case has been really really good and I appreciate that ended up with a great experience. Thank you.

I would like Community Tax to know Brian Ellingwood was very professional and helpful throughout the entire process. I would recommend Community Tax to anyone who needs your service Thank You very much Joseph Brand.
The customer service. The staff is was very patient with me about my concerns. I would have loved to have some of the debt totally erased that's what I was hoping for. But Shirlene Lopez who was my tax practitioner did a really good job about handling my situation as well as her team Brandon Delgado and Erica Melendez they all worked to get my case completed in what I believe was a timely manner. They took my case on April 2025 and wrapped it up in February 2026.
This is an update to my previous post on February 3, 2026, regarding Community Tax on TrustPilot. First, TrustPilot responses can make a difference. Second, and more importantly to me, Community Tax listens to TrustPilot and its clients. I complained about the lack of response and performance by Community Tax to my tax issue. Once I posted my issues, I was contacted by a representative of Community Tax. Initially, it appeared it was going to be a run-around of excuses. But my complaint ended up on the desk of Sarah Nieschalk, the Chief Service Officer for Community Tax. I got a call from her after their normal business hours to apologize for what my wife and I had been through. It was a call with a promise that she and her team would resolve our tax problems. She personally took over our case to try to get it on track to a resolution. She and her team worked on it and got not only the answers to my questions but also contacted the IRS to get me a settlement that we could live with. Did I get a lot of interest and penalty removed? No. But I did not expect that, I owed because I did not withhold as I should have. What I did get was all my tax work put together over the years of issues, and a clear and better understanding of where changes were needed. My wife and I have been greatly relieved by the work Sarah and her team have done. We can’t express how much better this makes us feel. No more scary letters from the IRS. No more worries about having assets seized. We have a repayment plan we can live with and a new appreciation for what can happen where there is the proper communication between a business and its client. Thank you, TrustPilot, and a big THANK YOU to Community Tax. My taxes for 2025 have been completed and are being filed.

Community Tax has prepared my taxes each year for the past 5 years. Also, I am enrolled in the Tax Assurance program for monitoring any tax problems which might occur through out the year and preparation of taxes for the end of the year.My tax associate's name is Paula Munoz. She is very professional and knowledgeable of her job. She continues to keep me informed of any issues concerning the IRS, and address any questions.
Excelent she was very good and very kind thank so much
Carlita was amazing. She was patient, funny, well informed and efficient. She never showed any impatience with me when she had to repeat directions.
My agent was very helpful and knowledgeable. Went above and beyond to help me. Always available to take my call.
Teri’s communication and understanding of my situation made the process easy and surprisingly stress free. Thanks for helping me get back on my feet!
Horrible, the case dragged on for almost 5 years and in the end all they did was set up a payment plan that ANYONE CAN DO!! They did nothing for us except take almost 5K of our hard earned money! Update; the manager at community tax called and discussed the history of our case. I was able to explain our view and he was able to explain what they faced with our case. It helped us both to understand more and we were able to come to an agreement.Thank you for the quick resolution and they made it right.
When I first hired Community Tax, it felt like my situation was hopeless. I'd lost confidence in my previous tax firm, and facing the IRS was terrifying. Teri Pepitone Wilson and the team assigned to me quickly put me at ease, and assured me they were equal to the task. I appreciate their communication, information, and connection so much. I finally had someone in my corner! I can actually sleep at night now and I know we will get the best resolution possible.
ANYA QUIROZ GREAT REPRESENTATIVE OF case Advocate.Very reassuring about your case.Thxs
My initial contact with Community Tax was with Steven Reed. We had bought and sold a delivery route contracted with Fedex Ground. We filed all our 940 and 941 business forms. We were in business for 5 years and sold our business for a profit in 2018. In 2020 we started receiving IRS statements for late fees that totaled 8853 dollars.I called and spoke with Steve. I paid 500 processing fee and Steve processed us and reported that we were in good standing with the IRS. He told me it was a large enough sum for the IRS and if we agreed to pay 30 a month we would be protected and Community tax would take care of this. We signed up and instead of paying the IRS 8853 we received a refund around 2100.And since then we had the pleasure of working with Gabriella. Dennis worked with us last year. We sold our income property in California and I worked with Dennis and we were able to get additional write offs and paid off the IRS.And we worked with Larry. And he advised me on working out a payment agreement with the state of California. We owe 16k. And we agreed to pay 270 a month for 5 years. We invested our capital gain in a retirement plan and the interest income and SSA benefits and small pensions my wife and I live comfortably in retirement.I want to say thank you. Great customer service. And old fashioned one on one consultation. We are happy customers.Cheers
Great customer service. Always polite.
Honestly, the experience was a let down. When I first spoke with the rep back in 2022, about my back taxes, (I won’t mention names for privacy), I was reassured that I would qualify for an Offer in Compromise and financial hardship due to my financial situation with the IRS due to some years of back taxes. Over the years I have cooperated with various members form Community Tax to stay on track and to be compliant with the IRS demands, and what do you know- as soon as I finished all of my payments to Community Tax they gave me a call saying that the IRS rejected the Offer in Compromise and furthermore I would be making payments on my insurmountable debt. This was not the agreement that was made when I first spoke with Community Tax, and had I know this would been the outcome, I would have been better off dealing with the IRS myself, as the thousands of dollars I’ve spent using Community Tax would’ve put a dent in my back taxes. Important update! So Community Tax recently gave me a call back to explain the situation. IIRC when they initially accepted my case, I qualified for the Offer in Compromise and Financial Hardship pay. However, as the case was in progress, my annual pay doubled. Because of this, the IRS determined that I had an “ability to pay”- meaning according to the IRS I was able to pay off the debt. Thus, the IRS rejected the Offer in Compromise. Community Tax also said afterwards that the IRS would’ve rejected the Offer even if it was accepted as soon as they saw my increased pay once they’ve seen the most recent tax filings.
Teri Pepitone Wilson has been exemplary in guiding me through the process. She has always been responsive and answered all of my questions. I have never felt judged and Teri has always treated me with compassion while remaining very professional and efficient. I don’t generally leave reviews, but I think it’s only right when someone goes above and beyond at their job.
Update: Community Tax reached out to me about my experience and provided a refund of the fees I paid since my experience fell short of their expectations. They also agreed that the initial recommendations provided to me were not the best course of action and offered to help me navigate through the best path forward. While my initial experience was concerning I appreciate the steps they have taken to fix the issues and make things right. My experience with Community Tax was horrible and extremely disappointing. I was charged $195 just for a basic review of my options, something many other tax relief companies provide for free.During this review, they made claims about potential resolutions that were not fully explained and left out critical details. Had I followed their recommendations as presented, I would have ended up paying thousands of dollars more than I actually owed the IRS.What’s especially concerning is that the IRS website explicitly warns consumers to be cautious of companies that operate this way. I felt misled and pressured rather than informed or protected as a client.I strongly recommend doing extensive research and comparing other companies before giving Community Tax any money.
