Misleading written quote and bad customer service
I had a terrible customer service experience with DataTech Labs. First, after getting a verbal quote for data recovery from a bad hard drive, it took me 3 attempted requests and over 24 hours just to get a written quote (which actually should have been provided around the same time as the verbal quote in the first place if things were professional). I then asked for some clarifications on the written quote like if the parts fee was included in the final recovery fee or if it is added on top of it. They verbally said the parts fee was in addition to the recovery fee. Then when I asked for my own records for that to be clarified a bit more in writing in the written quote, they suddenly said they would decline to provide me any further service! I also asked what kind of percent data recovery guarantee would define what was mentioned as "recovery fee due on success" and they replied they do not give any guarantees. (I also later remembered from another earlier separate verbal discussion that this parts fee is non-refundable even if data recovery is not successful, another thing that was not clarified in the written quote as it just said "parts fee" and not "non-refundable parts fee". I also later remembered from another earlier separate verbal discussion that an unspecified transfer media fee is also added to the total fee if a transfer media is not supplied, again not mentioned at all in the written quote.) For this lack of transparency in their written quote especially regarding fees and for their rude denial of service just for asking for clarifications, I give DataTech Labs 1 star. Luckily, I have the option to take my business elsewhere and the option to write this negative review!

I Believed I Had Plenty Of Time
I was the classic "idiot" who had huge files that I depend upon for my living - literally. I knew that my computer was having issues. Did I backup the files immediately? Nah. I've got time. Nnnnope. Computer crashed - files not backed up. (forehead slap)If you find yourself in this situation, see Jeff and the team here at DataTech Labs. They bent over backwards to work with me and to recover my files -- 100%!!!! Or, hey, here's an idea -- Back Up Your Files!! OFTEN!

Lenny and Alex were incredible to work with. I came in thinking there was no hope in recovering my data and also very worried about the price. They worked with me on that and reassured me that they would do their best. They did and I am forever grateful. Though I hope never to have this happen again, I am taking their advice and running out to get a solid state storage drive!

Great organization
I needed relatively quick recovery of important data. I first went to a local PC repair business. They diagnosed the problem but did not have the capability to attempt a repair or recovery and told me so. They recommended Datatech. I was told there was an 80% chance to recover the data and that i would not be charged unless the recovery was successful. Within a week I had 100% of the data recovered. It was not inexpensive, but if you need the data back (which I did) and can afford the cost it is well worth it. Fast, professional, and high quality work.

Lenny and Alex over at DataTech Labs were great. They followed through on phone calls, were very kind and helpful, answered all my questions, and were very clear on expectations on data recovery. They thankfully were able to recover 99.9% of my files on my failing 2018 Western Digital 3TB external hard drive (which had stopped mounting, but still had a normal mechanical whirring sound. It was on the verge of dying). It understandably took them a few weeks to a month to evaluate, recover, and have a new SSD drive shipped back to me with the recovered files, but it was worth the wait. They thoroughly went through the recovered items over shared screen on a zoom call and reviewed the scant few unrecoverable items. As I said, they were helpful at every step of the way. The price for the recovery was even a little less than what I expected, and for that I am thankful. Thank you Lenny and Alex! You saved the day!

8TB Ext Hard Drive Recovered Completely
