Refunded my money for the poor experience. Thank you HC!

Hair Cuttery was able to refund my money from a botched hair coloring. Thank you, Hair Cuttery, for standing by your services.

Complete Negligence in Chemical Service and No Accountability

On December 3rd, I received a perm service from Arturo Roque Martinez (License #CL1264779) at the Biscayne Boulevard location (1788 Biscayne Blvd, Miami). What should have been a routine hair service turned into a nightmare that has significantly impacted my personal and professional life. The perm completely destroyed my hair. It came out fried and frizzy and brassy—not curly, but chemically damaged. Even the stylist looked shocked at the result. I was so concerned during the service that I took photos while it was being done, which turned out to be crucial. When I returned the next day, another stylist named Niki (recommend her!) reviewed those photos and confirmed something alarming: Arturo didn't use perm rollers at all. He used setting rollers, which would never produce a perm result and were entirely inappropriate for a chemical perm service. This wasn't just a bad outcome—this was using the wrong tools for a chemical treatment, which constitutes clear negligence. I contacted the company right up to the CEO, Eric Bakken, they really don't care. They offered some conditioning treatments but their products are low quality and each time I left my hair looked worse, so i stopped going. This has been devastating. It's negatively impacting my work, where i need to look professional. And believe, me, I don't. I've lost confidence and self-esteem. I've stayed home from professional events and spent untold amounts of money and time on products trying to repair the damage. I've sought second opinions from two other salons, both confirming that the damage is so severe nothing can be done to fix it for at least 6 months. This is a clear-cut case of negligence—a stylist using entirely wrong equipment for a chemical service, causing severe, irreparable damage. I have extensive photo documentation: before, during (showing the wrong rollers being used), after, and the ongoing damage. I've just filed a formal complaint with the Florida State Board of Cosmetology. Please, please avoid this place.

Way overpriced

Way overpriced. $69 for a woman’s cut and blow dry which was glued to my head with so much garage they used. Waste of money. Can’t complain on cut but to charge me extra cause my hair touches bra strap and is thin and not thick or curly is BS. Won’t be back

I don’t even know where to begin

I don’t even know where to begin. My 15 yr daughter went into this salon expecting a simple haircut… and walked out looking like she lost a fight with a weed-whacker. I am NOT exaggerating — the stylist Marilyn destroyed her hair. Not trimmed. Not “shaped.” Destroyed. She explained what she wanted. Just wanna trim , clean it up And redo her curtain bangs. She loves her long hair She even repeated herself to make sure we were on the same page. Bc marilyn was talking to another stylist so my daughter wanted to make sure she heard , well Apparently, none of that mattered, because she went rogue like she was practicing for a blindfolded cutting competition. The layers? Uneven isnt the word!
The ends? Chopped like firewood.
The back? Looks like someone took bites out of it. She took inches off- like 5/6 She paid and left the salon literally crying staring at the damage she called me , and i took her back after work so mgr could see, that Marilyn butchered my daughters hair!! I want a refund and she will not be touching her or anyone else in this salon to fix it, They had the nerve to refund me minus the tip- ummm no she deserves no tip!! My 3 yr old grandson could do a better job!!!my daughter is so humiliated!!’ Now I have to spend MORE money to fix the disaster she left!!Save yourself the trauma. Save your hair. Save your sanity.
Do. Not. Come. Here. Ever. Dont ever allow Marilyn or anyone else here to touch your hair!! Haircuttery is the worst!!!

Never again

Never again. She was impatient and horrid. I’m going to call her “The Butcher”. All she cared about was getting me gone…a cut in 10 minutes with no interest. Run.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience, I called to see if they could do a walk in or if I needed an appointment- they stated an appointment would be best and they were mostly free after 6pm. I scheduled an appointment for 6 which was an hour later than when I called. I arrived, was never greeted, checked myself in on the kiosk and sat to wait. I sat for 25 minutes before I asked someone how much longer it may be....she said another 5-10 minutes at 6:40 a stylist asked someone how much longer they would be, she said another 10 minutes and I left. No one made eye contact with me the entire time, and my appointment meant nothing to anyone. I was so upset because I was really looking forward to my haircut and to be treated as if I was invisible was really frustrating.

I’m writing this to share my experience…

I’m writing this to share my experience as a Muslim woman who wears a hijab, after dealing with what I believe to be clear religious discrimination at Hair Cuttery in Glen Ellyn.I first called the salon and asked for a private space or partitioned area so I could get my highlights done in privacy, as is required by my faith. I was told there was a back room available and that it could be used. I agreed to come back later and make an appointment. When I called back to book the appointment, a different staff member told me they couldn’t accommodate me because the room was “too small” for a 2–3 hour session. I thought maybe this was just a misunderstanding or someone not informed, so I called again. This time, another employee told me YES, I could use the room and scheduled me for a 9:15am appointment. When I arrived for my appointment, the stylist came out and immediately asked if I was the woman she had spoken to before about not being able to use the back room. I confirmed I was, and explained that I’d spoken with others who had said it was fine. She then told me she was the manager and refused to do my highlights, repeating the claim that the room was too small — even though I said I didn’t mind the space. Two different employees told me it was possible. One even confirmed it after I mentioned the room size issue. So why is the manager overriding that and refusing to provide the service — unless it’s because I’m a hijabi Muslim woman? To make things worse, I noticed something that looked like a partition in the back, which raises even more questions about why this basic accommodation couldn’t be made. This experience felt discriminatory and exclusionary, and the manager’s later voicemail apology only repeated the same excuses — which do nothing to justify what happened. If a paying customer is requesting a modest space and is fine with the conditions, there is no legitimate reason to refuse, unless it comes down to bias.I’m speaking out so others know what happened. This is not just bad customer service — it’s discrimination. I hope Hair Cuttery takes this seriously and re-evaluates how they treat Muslim customers and anyone with religious or modesty needs.

Questionable policy

I had my hair cut at Hair Cuttery in Glen Ellyn, IL. They force you to pay for a wash whether it was done or not. I just paid $30.00 for a hair cut and wash but didn't get my hair washed. I want some money back. ASAP

Never will use head cuttery again

Subject: Complaint regarding poor service at Hair Cuttery Oakleaf Shopping Center, Jacksonville, FLDear Hair Cuttery Corporate Office,I am writing to express my shock, disappointment, and frustration with the service I received at the Hair Cuttery location in Oakleaf Shopping Center, Jacksonville, FL. On December 12, 2024, at noon, I visited the salon for an appointment and had my hair severely damaged by stylist Lori Fitzgerald. What's even more disturbing is that the manager was present and witnessed the mistreatment, yet failed to intervene or address the issue. This lack of accountability and disregard for customer well-being is unacceptable.During the appointment, I was subjected to unacceptable behavior by the stylist. She would frequently disappear without explanation, leaving me feeling anxious and unsure about what was happening with my hair. I began to suspect that she might be intentionally trying to ruin my hair.To make matters worse, the stylist applied straight bleach to my forehead, causing severe burns. When I informed her that it was burning, she failed to take adequate action to address the issue. As a result, I suffered from burns on my head for over a week, and my hair has been breaking off constantly. The assistant manager did approach me discreetly after the incident and expressed her shock that the manager hadn't intervened. She advised me that in the future, if I experience similar behavior from a stylist, I should walk out and not allow them to continue working on my hair. While I appreciate her concern, it's disturbing that she felt compelled to share this advice, implying that the salon's management is aware of the problems but fails to address them.I was charged $237 for this disastrous experience, and in an attempt to do the right thing, I also gave the stylist a $30 tip. However, I later discovered that she had shortchanged me by $10, effectively increasing her tip to $40. This is unacceptable and adds to the overall sense of mistreatment I experienced.I refused to return to the salon to address the issue, as I don't want to deal with people who display such blatant disregard for customer satisfaction.I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and take necessary steps to address the issue. This includes providing better training to the staff and management on customer service, professionalism, and conflict resolution. I hope that in the future, Hair Cuttery will take customer complaints seriously and provide a safe and respectful environment for all clients.Sincerely,Kimberly Guyton

Horrible blow out!

Horrible blow out!Ridiculous that a stylist is ranked as a level 2 stylist and can’t do a proper blowout. Then it gets more insulting when they charge $50.That’s a top salon price. I’ve never seen such bad work done.

The staff (Argyle Forest Blvd) is completely incompetent and their communication skills are left to be desired. I will NOT return. Re: Appointment made for 2pm - I arrived at 1:40pm - checked in at 1:50 ( it took awhile for a staff member to check me). Finally, at 2:25 they asked me if I was checked in. At this point I was extremely annoyed and walked out. Reason for over site: they didn’t see my name on the computer. Total incompetence.

Worst experience of my life

Worst experience of my life. Staples Mill Location, Richmond, VA. Today, I went in for a trim and long layers to be added. First, the stylist took me back to the shampoo chair and proceeded to rip through my hair with a comb until the tangles were out. It was so painful, my legs were notably bouncing in the air. (My 6 year old asked me what was wrong at this point!). After this, the stylist took me to the chair and started to cut my hair. She took off a few inches in the back, separated the layers with clips, and then started to cut over 6 inches off in the back left portion of my hair. This was the shortest my hair has ever been cut in my entire life. I am used to having long blonde hair (longer than my shoulders). As soon as I noticed the long pieces falling in the floor, I asked her to clarify the cut. She said she is cutting long layers in my hair. I told her this must be a misunderstanding as I don't want short hair at all since my hair was so thin. I immediately apologized for the misunderstanding. She rolled her eyes and continued to cut my hair. I was visibly upset and told her to stop. She decided to comb back the front longer pieces over the short parts in the back to cover it. She never once apologized or try to find a solution. She made me pay the full amount which was $44. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I left crying and finding another salon to fix the cut ultimately leaving me with the shortest hair I have ever had. What is even worst, is that my hair will not go in a ponytail for work. I have contacted customer service about this complaint and have yet been contacted. As a manager myself, this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
