Hemmings charges your card with insane amounts unauthorized
I bought cars in US on several platforms. Never had problems. I auctioned a 6600,- car. Hemmings charged my creditcard with the 500,- Auctionfee whats been correct and directly afterwards with insane 10K USD! I complaint and they refund the 10K next day. My creditcard company charged me near 200 bucks for the international transaction and Hemmings refuses to refund me this creditcard fees, saying I have to work this out with my bank - even if they caused this false transaction: Von: xxxxxxhemmings.com>Datum: 03.02.26 16:27 (GMT+01:00)Betreff: Hemmings info 1986 MercedesHi , Hemmings apologies for the strange charge of the $10,000 USD on your card, we have credited that back to you, we had a glitch in our system with our new Max bid system, luckily only you and 1 other person were effected but we deeply apologize for the inconvenience it may have caused you, we refunded that amount and charged you the correct buyers fee owed to Hemmings for purchase of the vehicle of $500 USD.On my complaint I got this from Hemmings: Am 05.02.2026 um 15:44 schrieb xxxxxhemmings.xxx> Again, you will need to take that up with your bank Igor, we did not charge you that fee, your bank did. I don't understand why Hemmings annoys…
I don't understand why Hemmings annoys me with a, 'Are you a robot' box, AND 'Match all the similar characters or pictures' just to view ads... I'm viewing car ads. It's hardly a matter of National Security... and all it has resulted in is me going to other classic cars sites to view ads... Not a good sales pitch for people considering to list their cars on Hemmings.

Hemmings made selling my classic car so easy - and fast!
I just sold a classic car using Hemmings and they were wonderful. I really didn't know where to even start, but I felt their website was very easy to navigate. When I had questions that the website didn't answer I called their number and got through to a real (and friendly) person right away - every time I called. The quality of serious, prospective buyers was great, and we ended up with 3 offers in less than a week. Once the actual selling process began, Hemmings led both me and the buyer through the whole process, making it so easy. (The buyer paid an extra $299 for this optional service.) I received the funds for the car this morning - the entire process, from listing my car on their website to payout ended up being less than 2 weeks in all. I highly recommend using Hemmings!

Do not throw your money away selling on…
Do not throw your money away selling on this site. They take pride in blocking all your perspective buyers from contacting you. Even as a registered seller you will not be able to reach other sellers. This is nothing short of a theft ring!!!

I bought my dream car in my dream color…
I bought my dream car in my dream color and was deceived by the statement: The seller states that this car “has an unknown ticking noise that needs diagnosis and repair,”When the car was transported on an 18 wheeler from Nevada to Florida and a Porsche specialist shop was recipient of car they filtered the oil and found no metal but an oil thickening additive. After an oil change and a start up we heard ticking as reported but also grinding noise and after a day’s errands we got it on a lift and filtered the oil it was now full of metal. Both myself and seller are over 60 years old. The purchase price was $14K and 5% to Hemmings. The cost of a short block is $22K.The cost of a rebuild is known to be $20K to $30K.I am sickened by this deceit or in my opinion fraud.

Very Difficult to Work With, Arrogant
I attempted to list a 1965 Mustang on their auction site and was working with Karissa to build the listing. It took several weeks to get to a point where they provided the auction listing based on the content that we provided. We asked for two changes, one was to remove one incorrect statement in the Chassis section and to modify the title as we did not like it. They changed the one incorrect statement but REFUSED to change the title. I called in and spoke to Alan to which he spoke to the Editor. He again refused to change the title. The title that they had suggested was "Ready to be Finished 1965 Ford Mustang Hardtop Project". We did not like the reference that the car was ready to be finished or the reference to a project. The car runs well and is in great shape. I asked for a different title and they refused to change it. I cancelled the order and am disputing the charge. Responses to emails took several days and no updates were provided unless you asked them. There are too many other auto auction sites to be bothered with this frustration.
