sold my Marriott timeshare back to…Marriott
Sold my Marriott timeshare back to Marriott in August 2025 for $5000, They kept $1500 for "processing".We were no longer using it and were tired of trying to pay the maintenance fee every year. In November I received a bill for maintenance fees. When I called about it they told me that I had banked some points for 2026 and 2027, so I had to pay up or be turned over to a collection agency.I paid. To get out of the timeshare I had to pay another $400 and fill out a bunch of legalese paper work. I was told this did not quarantee my release. Still waiting to hear from them.

I’ve been an owner for over 20 years…
I’ve been an owner for over 20 years and the service provided by Jennifer in Owner Services today was the worst I can ever remember. They are so busy apologizing for problems with the platform that they do not even try to assist. Security is clearly an issue, but once my identity was authenticated they continue to harp about proper paperwork. Owner Services seems to be all about declining service rather than being helpful. Get your act together MVC.

Do not be fooled: A WARNING
I am writing this review to warn other families about our deeply troubling experience with Marriott Vacations. On July 11, 2025, during a family vacation in Waikiki, Hawaii, we attended what we were told would be a brief timeshare presentation. It lasted six hours! All while our three young children sat with us the entire time. We declined the offer three to four times throughout the presentation. Instead of respecting our decision, the sales representative (Adam Burnett) repeatedly changed the pricing, monthly payments, and point structures. We were transparent about having significant debt and no savings yet were pressured into opening a Marriott credit card on the spot and instructed to use it immediately for the down payment. We felt we had no real choice after hours of relentless pressure and mental exhaustion. We were explicitly told that no payments would be due for six months, meaning that it was not until 2026. That was false. A mortgage payment was charged as early as August 2025. When we raised the issue, we were dismissed and told the delay only applied to association dues, which directly contradicted what we were verbally promised at signing. We were never shown a Truth in Lending statement during the presentation or at the time of signing. We only learned after receiving a congratulatory letter that our $21,900 purchase carried a 14.99% interest rate, resulting in a total repayment of over $46,000. That critical information was never disclosed or explained to us. We learned for the first time that association dues of approximately $1,500 were already past due, another obligation that was never mentioned during the presentation. We believe this constitutes fraudulent misrepresentation and predatory sales practices, and we hope this review protects other families from going through the same ordeal.

Difficult to Book
Purchased a timeshare deal for Hawaii, which required a deposit, and upon calling to book the stay, I was told that the three weeks I wanted were booked up (2+ months in advance). They said they couldn't do anything about it and I had to call my credit card to dispute the charge.

Scam
Scam. I was offered to stay at Residence Inn Myrtle Beach Oceanfront for 4 days for $200 because I'm Titanium Elite at Marriott Bonvoy and that I had 1 year to make the reservation. When I called, any dates after May 11th would be twice the price and almost all dates before that are busy. They asked about income which doesn't make sense because I was offered this, I never asked for this. Later they cancelled my reservation and I'm fighting to get a refund

Marriott = Silver tongued deception
Marriott = Silver tongued deception. I had enjoyed Marriott resorts and hotels for years and was recently sold on an "ownership"/time-share while in Florida. Mis-representation on all fronts. Beware of all Marriott, Sheraton, and related brands presentations. NO PROMISES HAVE BEEN ACCURATELY DELIVERED. I was told I could pay with my credit card to get points, they wouldn't let me and made me sign up for a loan telling me to pay it with the credit card once the deal closed. 45 days later, I had a loan that could not be paid for with the credit card. I was going to cancel as I felt uneasy the day after. I was promised an immediate week stay at a Marriott brand resort via Interval International. Then I was told I had to wait 45 days. Then 45 days later (over 90 total), I finally get an Interval account. Immediate or 90 days? I was then promised unlimited certificate weeks via Interval for flat fees for a studio, 1 bed, or 2 bed. This does not exist. All vacations have to be paid for and are not flat fees. Next, I was sold as a Marriott Vacation Club. In closing, it was then Sheraton (this requires banking of points into a different system a year ahead of time in order to use the following year at Marriott). This was not explained. There were then additional yearly fees added in at the end once we had committed. Higher maintenance fee because we didn't buy a bigger package. I was also promised Marriott Gold Elite status. This is still to be delivered over 90 days later. When I asked for clarification and help, Dustin Miller, the sales rep, was degrading, accusatory, and manipulative. This entire experience with Marriott has been absolutely atrocious. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE of Marriott!!!

Was really sad to see one of Marriott…
Was really sad to see one of Marriott Vacation Club’s employers, Ashley Ferraro, spewing vile hatred online on Mexican Americans. It’s disgusting to see, and I won’t be a patron of someone who employs people like this.

Don't buy timeshare if you are disabled
I booked a stay through Marriott Vacation Club's website for an upcoming stay at Sheraton Desert Oasis in Scottsdale, Arizona. I checked the box for an ADA accessible room and the Sheraton came up as having availability. After booking my room, my nonrefundable airline tickets and my wife getting clearance for the vacation time, I was told by the resort that no ADA compliant rooms are available. I can stay in a non-compliant room. They say they have no record of my request for an ADA compliant room. I've booked through the website many times before at other Vacation Club properties online before, checked the same box and gotten an ADA compliant room. Not the Sheraton.I've had this same problem with this same hotel before. In fact, one desk agent at the Sheraton denied having received an email from me requesting an ADA room until my wife went to the desk and showed her a copy of the email. Owner Services, even at the supervisory level, is useless though I told them I cannot walk up the stairs or use a tub shower. They just keep repeating the same script over and over again. Marriott cares nothing for its owners.

We deeply regret our decision
We deeply regret our decision to upgrade our timeshare from Sheraton Vistana to Marriott Bonvoy in July 2024. Our experience with salesperson Juan Gonzalez was extremely disappointing and felt predatory. We are both over 60 years old, and we feel we were deliberately misled and taken advantage of during what should have been a relaxing vacation. The sales presentation was high-pressure with fast-talking representatives who glossed over critical information. We were told we were purchasing actual property, but later discovered we were only buying points. The financial obligations were grossly misrepresented. We paid $47,000 upfront and were led to believe that would be the end of our financial commitment. Instead, we discovered mandatory annual dues and maintenance fees exceeding $3,000 per year, far more than the $1,000 we anticipated based on previous years. We were never informed about the 10-day cancellation period, nor were we told that unused points transferred to the next year would incur additional charges. Perhaps most egregiously, we were told we could refinance through USAA at a lower interest rate, which the bank confirmed was completely false when we inquired. While they mentioned the timeshare could be left to our families, they conveniently failed to disclose that maintenance fees continue to increase 5-8% annually, creating a significant financial burden for our heirs. The entire process felt deceptive, with critical information deliberately withheld. We strongly caution others, especially seniors, to avoid these high-pressure sales tactics and thoroughly investigate before signing anything.

A Family Tradition We Truly Treasure
Marriott Vacation Club has been such a great part of our family’s life. It’s given us a reason to slow down, be together, and make memories we actually look forward to every year. We love that no matter where we go, the villas are comfortable, clean, and easy for our family to settle into. The flexibility to try different locations has kept every trip fun and unique, while still giving us the consistency we can rely on.It’s become more than a vacation—it’s a tradition we cherish. We’re really grateful for the experiences it’s given our family.

Horrible Customer Service and Horrible Stay
Marriott Titanium Elite MemberNo heat and electricity of New Year’s Eve which wasn’t restored until New Year’s Day around 11:30 AM.We got about 2 hours of sleep. For freezing in the suite, not being able to look at the festivities on TV, and ruining New Year’s Eve -We were offered $100 off and points by the Building Engineer-who was the only employee that showed compassion for our situation. We were moved to another building where the suite smelled of feces and spoiled meat. I called the front desk immediately from the suite to report it.No apologies. No offer of other accommodations. I informed her that I was returning the key and leaving. I provided the key to the front desk personnel who tried to get the manager on duty to assist but she refused to come out of the office. The computers were down at the time, but I was emailed a final bill and a confirmation of cancellation for the additional night. I had to drive more than 3 1/2 hours back home after a ruined vacation experience by the employees at Ford’s Colony at Marriott Manor Club-which is a location that I go to every year. I filed a formal complaint with Marriott Corporate.A few weeks later I noticed that someone made an UNAUTHORIZED charge and had rebooked a room using my CORPORATE credit card on file after I left the premises. I thought that this was a clerical error and contacted the property. I filed another complaint with Marriott corporate after employees Aria, manager and Elmer, Resorts Operations refused to remove the fraudulent charge from my corporate credit card which signified to me that this is an intentional scheme since it occurred after I left and I have a CONFIRMATION OF CANCELLATION, A FINAL BILL, NO INVOIVE IN MY MARRIOTT FOLIO FOR THE UNAUTHORIZED ADDITIONAL NIGHT’S STAY, AND A LIFE 360 RECORD SHOWING WHEN I LEFT THE PROPERTY AND RETURNED HOME. I requested a print out of key activity and housekeeping logs which I never received. I have filed complaints and cases with all governing authorities on both the employees and Marriott for FRAUD. I

I am writing this review specific to… Marriott Vacation Club Program. It is not worth the money you will spend
I am writing this review specific to the Marriott Vacation Club program. I have been a Westin Vacation Club Owner for 19 years. I own 4 units at the Westin St John in the Virgin Islands. These are deeded properties. Since I own 4 units I am considered Titanium Elite in their system. Every year I go to the islands and use one or more of my units and I get "invited" to sit for a 90 minute "owner update". When Marriott bought Westin/Vistana, they decided to no longer sell timeshare units (the condo itself) they now sell "Points". Last February I attended this update. They pressured me into buying 1000 Marriott points so I could "see both sides of the website". These 1000 points cost me over $17,000. They pressured me to open a new credit card with 0% interest for 15 months and I can "just pay it off when my house sells". (News flash, house has not sold yet and I'm starting to get a little anxious about this big credit card bill). Anyway, the annual fee is $900 per year, which I paid in January of this year, and that will go up every year. Next year it will be over $1200. Now here is where my eyes were REALLY opened: My daughter decided to book a trip to London, UK. I wanted to help her out with her hotel stay. I converted my week 21, a three bedroom PRIVATE POOL UNIT, at the Westin on St John, to Bonvoy Points. Points value is 202,500. I did get a few bonus points for being Titanium Elite status. My FEES for that unit (for just one year) are $5,213.61. I paid these in early January 2026 The hotel I was looking at is the St Ermin's Hotel, Autograph Collection The REGULAR rate, for a Queen Superior Room, is 416 GBP/night ($570.17 USD) ; The total would be $5131.53 USD for her 9 nights in March To use POINTS, it is 2,150 GBP ($2,946.79 U.S.D) PLUS 440,000 Points. Now I've already paid $5,213.61 for 202,500 points, I have 310,507 points so I'd be short 129,493 so I'd need to BUY points So if I take what I paid in fees for my 202,500 points: $5,213.61 PLUS the additional cash: $2,946.79 USDCASH OUT OF POCKET, SO FAR, IS $8,160.40(AND IT IS STILL NOT ENOUGH TO STAY ATTHE ST ERMIN'S): Now add in the cost to buy extra points: 130,000 points: $1,625.00 FINAL TOTAL TO STAY AT THE ST ERMIN'S: $9,785.40 PLUS the 440,000 POINTS!! Even taking into account the two free days for booking long stay I'd get a $1,140.34 credit THE TOTAL, OUT OF POCKET IS $8,645.06 PLUS the 440,000 POINTS COST TO JUST PAY ALL CASH: $5,131.30 which is less than the fees I paid for my Pool Unit and 202,500 points. How in the world does the Marriott Point system make sense to ANYONE?? It does not! I am really struggling to see how the Marriott Vacation Ownership has any benefits when it comes to converting to Bonvoy points. In fact, it looks completely irrational and a horrible waste of money. My daughter even asked why I still have the vacation club when she found out my fees for all 4 units and the 1000 Bonvoy Points for the year are over $18,000. I am now asking myself the same question!. I am seriously reconsidering why I am doing this! Perhaps I am better off selling the vacation club units and taking that money and letting my financial advisor invest the money and just paying cash for whatever trips I want to take. Trying to book this hotel in London has been a huge eye-opener. BOTTOM LINE: NEVER BUY MARRIOTT VACATION CLUB POINTS. And, for the record, I have never had an issue with the Westin Vacation Club. I trade a week on St John for a week somewhere else. Easy Peasy, no problems. The Marriott Point system gets you practically nothing for the money you will spend to be in their club. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

MWC - Don’t buy a timeshare
Hands-down, the dumbest financial move I’ve made was to buy a timeshare from Marriott Vacation Club. Aside from incessant marketing, a nearly useless website, and mountains of “small print”, I’m continually amazed by how little I get for the money I have spent. If you are considering buying a MWC timeshare—just don’t!

False information
We purchased a timeshare at Sheraton Broadway Plantation in September 2014 and have been trapped in a contract based on false promises ever since. In October 2022, at ages 69 and 72, we attended a sales presentation hoping to EXIT our contract due to retirement and the need to reduce expenses. Instead, salesperson Johnny Bryant and his supervisor Josh Poole pressured us into an upgrade during a presentation that lasted over four hours. Mr. Poole made two explicit promises that convinced us to sign: First, he stated we could cancel the contract after one year by simply calling the office. Second, when I specifically asked to protect myself and our children from liability, he agreed to place the contract solely in my husband's name. Both promises were lies. After more than a year, my husband called to cancel as promised. He was told no such option existed. We now realize this was a deliberate deception to secure the upgrade sale. We continued making payments in good faith until February 2025, when we finally stopped the automatic withdrawals. We're still receiving bills for maintenance fees and membership dues. For over a decade, we've endured constant pressure to attend sales presentations during every visit. We were misled by your representatives who made false commitments they had no intention of honoring. This is not how legitimate businesses operate. We strongly advise others to avoid Marriott Vacation Club timeshares and scrutinize any verbal promises made during sales presentations. Get everything in writing, though based on our experience, even that may not protect you.

BUYER BEWARE
BUYER BEWARE! Stay away from MVC! I was badly injured on their property by a serious infestation of bed bugs, which I was severely allergic to. The management refused to speak to me and their insurance company stalled to try to use up the statute of limitations, and, then they ghosted me. Their Customer Advocacy department is your enemy as an owner. Luckily I filed a lawsuit in time and requested a jury trial. I can’t wait for my day in court because when the jury learns how negligent MVC was, how badly they treated me and how I was injured, I expect to be properly awarded. My advice to anyone dealing with MVC- if you are experiencing any issues whatsoever, hire a lawyer!! The legal system is the only way to deal with this despicable company. If you are on their property and experience any problem, call the Police and get a police report and have the authorities get involved. It doesn’t matter how many points you own, even if you are Chairman level, they will do everything in their power to avoid your issue- big or small. They definitely need to be investigated by the government and eventually, I think that their sketchy business practices will be exposed. Don’t sit back and accept what they tell you: file a lawsuit against them because it is the only way to deal with them! For anyone who is considering buying, I suggest you save your money. Instead of paying MVC, it’s quite easy to go on Redweek, Koala, Airbnb or VRBO to rent someone’s week or even buy a resale for very cheap.
