Switched to Newsdemon and am happy now
I switched to Newsdemon from a different provider after I was getting a lot of missed articles. The staff at Newsdemon were really helpful in converting my block account to an unlimited account (for only $5!) after I contacted them through their official reddit page.Speeds are good. Retention is great. The only downside is there isnt a way to recur my payment with crypto like there is with credit cards, so I just paid for multiple years and stacked it in place. They gave me an extra 20% for paying with BTC.

I signed up last Black Friday (2024) and have really enjoyed their service for the last year. This year, there was a better deal available and even though my account had not yet expired from last year, the support guy at newsdemon was able to extend my account for me with zero complaints. I truly appreciate the way you all do business! Keep it up!

This company is a breath of fresh air in the usenet area after dealing with other companies for so long. No issues with price raising, no issues with playing games with my plans, no issues with maxing out my 1Gbps DSL line, the retention is really solid out to over 5000 days, and their team is easy to deal with. I so wish I had found them before I got cheated out of money from another provider.

This company is fraud
This company is fraud! I joined and used them for several years, but then when it came time to cancel, it was impossible. I cancelled 3 different times online and got a screen notice that the account had been closed. Yet for the next 5 months they automatically took out my monthly fee. I contacted my credit card company and they ruled in my favor and recredited the charge 2 different times, yet each month a new charge came on until I finally had to close the credit card. WHAT FRAUD. There are more reputable companies around.

After trying two other providers and having bad luck, I was ready to give up on usenet but then I went to reddit and found Newsdemon. Their owner hangs out on Reddit and is very responsive to answering questions about the service and how usenet works. I signed up on Black Friday and the service has downloaded everything I have searched for so far. I wish I had taken advantage of the ten year special they had on black friday!

Great service at Newsdemon. I have used them for over 15 years now and never had an issue until last week when my credit card on file expired. I messaged support and Brent responded within ten minutes and we were able to get my payment info updated and I was back to downloading.

Happy customer for 3 years...with a small hiccup
I've been a customer for 3 years now and for the first 2 years, everything was perfect. I didn't have to contact them once (this is a rare thing to say). Then they changed the backbone which really screwed up the service as many have mentioned BUT...,despite the hiccup, they provided me an alternative way to configure my software to get the previous experience. It did cost me an extra 40 cents per month but my renewal cost the same price so I'm not going to complain about the small increase especially since it wasn't exactly needed, it is my choice to add/pay for it...and it helps so I'm happy in that regard. The fact that they made this deal shows they care about their customers and I truly appreciate that. Besides this, the service works as advertised...never had a problem in that regard.

Newsdemon upgraded their servers in…
Newsdemon upgraded their servers in late 2020 so they are now their own backbone. They are also supposed to be adding a second US based server farm early in 2021. This is a great move for the usenet industry and helps keep the industry alive longer. Their previous provider has been rapidly buying up websites in an attempt to create a majority and raise prices on everyone. My service level has not changed much at all after I logged in and re-downloaded all the headers (the article header numbers changed after their move). I think I may actually be faster than before but it is hard to tell. The support team worked with me to help get this done and I can thank Brent for being very patient and helpful with me.

Changed Backbone and no retention since them
Unfortunately, NewsDemon changed its backbone (and other things in the background) and stopped cooperating with the previous provider (since December 2020). Since then, it has been working very poorly. The retention time can not be kept, files that are only a few days old can not be loaded and older ones anyway. Unfortunately, the support gives only insufficient help. One refers there to the fact that one deletes now data from the servers, if these are called too little. Very sad, because before NewsDemon was top, now unfortunately barely usable

I was with newsdemon for a few years. They were good to use until i asked to be dropped to a lower price for new customers. They accepted my request. Then i tried to download older posts and they were under 1000 days retention. So i tried a different usernet provider and had no issues. If they had told me my retention would be lowered i would of not accepted the lower price and stuck with them

I am impressed!Having been a customer at Giganews since 2006, I realized that a) their retention time was getting worse and worse and b) they charged me USD29.99 monthly even though new customers could sign up for 21.99.Old files (+5 years), that I thought was lost forever, suddenly appeared and downloaded perfectly on Newsdemon. At full speed (60 MB/sec on a VPN-connection). And at a much more competetive pricing. Goodbye Giganews - good day Newsdemon. Well done!
