I'm really confused by all the negative…

I'm really confused by all the negative reviews. We adopted two kittens in november when they were 2 months old. The adoption came with a 6 week trial period with petsecure. Within 3 days after adopting the kittens, one of them started sneezing. At first, we just thought he got some dust up his nose or something, but when it got progressively worse, and he could barely breathe because he was so congested, we took him in to an emergency vet. He was diagnosed with upper respiratory infection and given meds. He rallied for a while and seemed to be getting better and then he relapsed, so we took him into our regular vet, who confirmed the upper respiratory infection and prescribed more medications. Then, we took him in for a follow up as was required by our vet. we submitted all 3 claims and all 3 were accepted with no questions asked. We got our reimbursement about 4 days later.

Denied emergency care due to technicality

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Petsecure.My cat became acutely ill shortly after my coverage began. Despite the illness being sudden and clearly not pre-existing, Petsecure denied the claim based on a 48-hour waiting period technicality — effectively classifying an emergency as “pre-existing or foreseeable,” which is both misleading and unreasonable.While their policy language may allow this, the way it is applied shows a complete lack of compassion for pet owners dealing with real medical emergencies. Emergencies don’t wait for arbitrary timelines, and denying coverage under these circumstances feels like poor customer service at best and bad faith at worst.I was trialing Petsecure with the intention of continuing coverage and insuring my other cat as well. Based on this experience, I will not be renewing and will be taking my business elsewhere. I’m sharing this so other pet owners understand how claims may be handled if their pet becomes ill during the waiting period.If you’re considering this company, read the fine print very carefully — especially if you expect support when you actually need it.

Save your money

Save your money. I took my dog in for an acl injury and was denied coverage, and told that forevermore this type of injury would be excluded because he developed it before 6 months. What am I paying these high premiums for??I fundamentally disagree with the premise of paying substantial monthly premiums only to have coverage denied for a common condition based on exclusions buried in policy wording and waiting-period clauses. Regardless of how these exclusions are framed contractually, the outcome is that the insurance does not function as protection when it is actually needed.From a practical and financial standpoint, continuing to pay premiums under these circumstances represents poor value. I am therefore choosing to cancel the policy and instead allocate those funds to a dedicated veterinary savings account for my dog, where the money is accessible without exclusions, technical loopholes, or discretionary interpretation.

Messed up my account creation and makes it impossible to correct

They opened an account with the wrong person as the owner, locking me from registering my 2 pets/account numbers under my email because now my email is tied to someone I don't have access to. Won't allow me to ID/verify myself and make the account corrections

Untrustworthy company

I have been in petsecure for my dog since she was 8 weeks old. She is now 10 years and one month. I have paid my premiums, made only a few claims for accident and injury, and even paid more when they increased my premium at the leisure during inflation post covid. She’s had two illnesses this year - one that the vets did a scope of her lungs, and some back pain that chiro fixed. This past weekend she got a severe case of gastroenteritis. 2 hours before I received notice of a them getting the most recent claim, I received an email telling me that due to increased use of her insurance in a short period of time, they’ve decided to reduce her coverage to 60%. Two hours later, they received my most recent $1K claim. I’ve paid $50-80 a month for 10 years and now that she actually needs to use her insurance, they’ve decided to randomly reduce my coverage. This is not reliable, trustworthy, respectable or fair execution of an insurance policy. To make matters more insulting, I have been recommending them for 10 years to other because her injuries were covered (eg, she got quilled once, cut her foot once). What a shameful company. My other dog was on trupanion for 11 years and they were AMAZING right up to his death. I wanted to compare plans so tried petsecure for this fog (she’s two years younger than the other). AVOID PETSECURE. They are not trustworthy. Check out trupanion instead.

If i could put o in would there email does not exist if you have a policy for God's sake cancel it! I had to stop my card and get new one as the bank can not cancel it be very very careful!

We've been paying them hundreds of…

We've been paying them hundreds of dollers for years, for the first time we submitted a claim and they made it so inherently difficult to process. they keep requesting documents that are un needed and delaying the process. and then a 300 doller claim for an emergency visit we receieved 13 dollers for, and our second claim of 800 is still on hold because they keep putting it as "held" for no reason. saying they dont have vet documents when our pets have NEVER been sick and we set up an account with all the documents. absolutely useless service, we have wasted thousands on it.

I sent an email with written information pertaining to the cancellation of my pet's insurance. I was notified through email that my insurance was indeed cancelled by a representative. However, I was charged an additional month though I didn't request continual coverage. I was told by another representative that I didn't state in email that I had requested to have insurance cancelled nor did I have the requirements of my personal information to confirm that I wanted to cancel. I did send emails that I wanted to cancel insurance due to rising cost of insurance and poor reviews. I did share the required personal information. The representatives were polite and respectful but weren't as helpful as I would have liked. Nor did the representative get back to me on phone or email though he said he would. I had to phone the next day to get confirmation my insurance was cancelled and ended up paying additional charge that I didn't request.

Zero stars

I paid into this company for 10 years. When my cat passed away they refused to pay for his cremation. Don’t waste your money on this company, they very seldom pay out a claim everything is a pre existing condition to them. You’re better off putting money into a savings account. Would give them zero stars if I could

RED FLAG!

I called at end of November 2024 to cancel my membership I figured that was that but no they tried to bill me December 4th & 15th AFTER I had already cancelled my membership then I got an email that confirmed feb 4th my membership was cancelled and after that an email that stated I owed them 130 and something odd cents. It didn't make sense as I shouldn't of not only been billed for a December membership but twice in one month?, I called the collection agency I emailed pet secure gave them the proof its cancelled it's like people here don't know how to do their job apparently they put you on a que to have your membership cancelled which doesn't make sense & they dont tell ypy this until AFTER throwinf you into collections and they continue billing you until they eventually get to you.I went with them because their online adds promoted no exam fees medication covered and when it came time for me to file they explained; it's only for emergencies.Hence why i explained to the gentleman on the phone at the end of November 2024 why i wanted my membership cancelled i have filed a report with the BBB beware of this company go with your vet i pay the same amount petsecure was charging me and I only have to pay a small exam fee & they don't hide anything from me they're honest.

Scammers! Beware!! Never give a cent to this garbage company. Anything wrong with your dog; they’ll deny All coverage. If/When your dog passes away; they Continue to take money for Months and there’s nothing you can do. This is the worst company I have Ever dealt with for Anything.

Reducing coverage after 10+ years

Dear Petline Team,I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with your insurance policy. It is unimaginable that someone who obtains insurance to ensure they can take care of their dog during emergencies would have their coverage reduced just because the dog actually needs it. It is clear that your lawyers have crafted this policy to allow such actions, leaving customers with no recourse. I genuinely don't understand how you can justify this.Fortunately, I am in a position where I can afford to cover my dog's needs. However, I am deeply concerned for those who are not as fortunate. Companies like Petline force pet owners into heartbreaking decisions between providing care for their dog or facing the prospect of euthanasia.I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years with my two dogs. I can assure you that I will no longer be using your services with future pets. I will also be recommending to my husband, who works with the Toronto Humane Society, that he share this letter with its membership.Sincerely,Travis

Nothing is covered.... ever

I have 2 dogs who have been with petsecure for 1 & 3 years and they have covered absolutely NOTHING. They deem everything is "excluded from the policy" even using the term "post sale exclusion" as well as "pre existing condition" Please note that the pre existing condition was used for a 4 month old puppy. So what? Being born is a pre existing condition? They are the very worst. I cannot state this enough. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM. You will be stuck. Policy: 10226457 & 10264019

THE WORD SCAM IS TOO GOOD FOR THEM

Just found out today that I’m still paying insurance on my pet Soccie who passed away last October. I called and advised in October that he had passed. Was told of their deductible that wouldn’t have covered the care. Called in today after receiving some kind of notice to ask if I’m still paying. Was told I was. That’s after they verified that I made the call last October. Was told that without filling out forms they would continue to take money. Advised them I was going to my bank to cancel there. Was told if I do that it will go into collections after 2 months of non payment and would affect my credit if I didn’t pay. Going to my bank to cancel anyway. BEWARE THESE PEOPLE ARE BLOOD SUCKERS. Makes me wonder how many have lost pets and don’t realize they will be paying into perpetuity without jumping through hoops they don’t know exist. My bet, it’s at least in the hundreds. This doesn’t end here.

I have been trying to cancel my pet…

I have been trying to get my pet insurance cancelled with Petsecure for almost a year, but they don’t respond to emails with written requests to cancel and I get the run around when I call them. They have been taking my money now for over a year with no claims payouts. They are scammers. Avoid this company at all costs!

Avoid Petsecure/Petline - SCAMMERS

Avoid this company. They will find any way to rejects claims. Like others, they will classify issues as preexisting, even when medical records support otherwise. Not tell you your file is missing something until you are in neef, etc. Very poor customer care. Pay more for Trupanion or another company, as you will regret Petsecure/Petline.

Big Scam

They are simply scammers living off your money! great business for them, sucks for you! Processing bills takes up to 4 months!! Any sickness the pet gets is always and ALWAYS pre-exisitng, even if the cats vomits or has diarrhea. Keep in mind, it is all PRE-EXISITNG, and what is more annoying is that after you discover that they are a bunch of thieves you have to keep paying them monthly until the fake contract ends
