Overpriced and unreliable
So.. after purchasing 2 redsea aquariums approx 4.5 years ago, the bottom seal on the front glass failed on friday - luckily we were in and managed to get fish and corals into containers.Research online suggests this is a known issue and possibly a manufacturing or design fault mainly in the G! and G2 series. I contacted redsea on saturday who offered me just over £560 pounds off a new G3 setup and was told they would call me today for payment and get one too me asap this week.I didnt get a call - I got a ticket update message - none in stock - they will contact me friday for payment.Whilst the tank was out of warranty, as far as I'm concerned its well within the expected lifetime of a tank costing almost £2k. Offerring me money as long as I purchase one of their products - well everyone will have their own opinion on that. I looked yesterday and did find someone who had had 2 tanks fail, and someone who claimed to have had issues with a G3 system. On consideration of the inability to supply a new tank quickly to save the livestock i have, the fact they appear to be doing everything possible to avoid accepting there is a fault with their products and doing an appropriate recall to fully resolve the issue and the general attitude, I ordered an identical size aqua one tank today, explained the situation and... it arrives tomorrow..These are, obviously, my opinions and my experience but I thought I should share it for anyone considering an expensive purchase

My reef mat and ato won’t connect and I’m selling my Red Sea reefer tank because it gets hot I replaced the pumps it’s a manufacturers error. Some items are not usable at all with connecting to there junky app that is aggravating and hard and sometimes not able to connect to. Buy something else

Complaint to neil marks and Redsea ignored
Neil marks neilm at redseafish.com I am very disappointed with Red Sea’s handling of a serious issue involving a silicone defect on a Red Sea tank. This is a major concern, as it raises questions about the integrity and safety of the aquarium. On 5th December 2025, Neil Marks confirmed that he would look into my complaint. Since then, despite sending several follow-up emails, I have received no further response whatsoever. Being told the issue would be investigated and then completely ignored is unacceptable. There has been no update, no explanation, and no resolution, which gives the clear impression that my complaint is being avoided. For a company positioned as a premium brand, this level of communication is extremely disappointing. The ongoing anxiety caused by the risk of a potential leak has ultimately led me to make the difficult decision to give up the hobby altogether. No customer should be put in a position where stress and worry replace what should be an enjoyable experience.Given the widely discussed concerns around silicone issues on Red Sea tanks and the lack of after-sales support shown here, I would strongly advise others to avoid Red Sea at all costs.Shocking expierence.

Tank May Fail
Red Sea designs beautiful aquariums. But do your research before purchasing, the tank may fail at a seam. Read the forums and owner reviews. Cost is a factor, but keep in mind if the tank fails, the animals/corals all need to be rehomed.

The product is far too expensive for the level of quality delivered, and the reliability is disappointing.
The product is far too expensive for the quality delivered, and the reliability is disappointing. I purchased a fish tank on 03/03/2022 and it is already leaking. For the price range of their products, I expected far better durability, especially considering that a fish tank should typically last 10–15 years. After contacting their customer support team, the only solution offered was to buy another tank at a discount. For such a premium product, this response was extremely disappointing.

Multiple Issues - Reef Max 250
Plumbing line blew in 2 days, found at least 2 leaks, the items for the sump in the kit don't fit together as instructions show (literally, you can measure the items. They do not fit as drawn), and some of the electronic items didn't work at all. The stand instructions were poor illustrations that skipped steps.I can afford to just eat the cost and just smash the whole thing to pieces to avoid passing this POS off to anybody else. Boycotting the company from here on out, encouraging others to do the same.

Red Sea no service
Do not buy anything from this company they will not honour any guarantee. They will try and fob you of with anything so long as it does not cost them money, I purchased a new reefer tank after a few years they would not even replace two hinges.I have a RedSea return pump from new made a loud humming noise, they wanted me to install back in the tank get a decibel meter sit several feet from the tank and then record the noise and send them. I placed it in a bucket of water it made the same noise and then after they had some sort of meeting decided they would send me a shaft for the pump. The shaft will not solve the problem. I have asked them to collect the pump they will not do because they already know the problem. You will just get grief from this companyYou have been warned

Don’t trust any Red Sea product
Reefer 350 split down the side. Reefmat and other equipment also felt poorly designed and cheaply made.

Bad seam
Good day. Three years and nine months ago, I bought a Red Sea 300XL. To my surprise, I noticed a bubble in my kit. I contacted Red Sea by email, but they indicated that the three-year warranty (which it was at the time) had expired. The goodwill they offered, means that after a little over three years, I'll have to pay the same amount for a new aquarium again. I understand that aquariums have become more expensive, but I find this truly outrageous. It's not just a simple aquarium swap. But they didn't care about that. It's a shame for the short, good time.request #115881

Red Sea Reefer 200 G2 MAX
Just avoid.Purchased a Red Sea 200G2 MAX in December 2023, and have had ongoing issues with the skimmer badly performing. This has lead to thousands of dollars of livestock loss due to lack of nutrient export.Complete lack of support pushing Red Sea to help me out with an obvious ongoing issue (the skimmer motor does not remain consistent which has lead to overflowing and damage to other equipment)Very happy to promote me buying the system, but failure to provide me with proof of purchase, failure to inform me of the need to register the tank with Red Sea.Trying to say that I need to purchase alternative equipment while I wait for an indeterminate amount of time while Red Sea do testing (this will be a minimum of a week + whatever time to replace parts)Go elsewhere.Update: I posted a question about this on the official Red Sea Owners Group on Facebook, and my post was deleted and I was banned.I posted a negative review on Red Sea's page and that also has been disallowed. They do not have a single review of less than 3 stars on their page, which probably tells you all you need to know Absolutely scummy company. Avoid

RedSea seriously disadvantaged us
RedSea seriously disadvantaged us, our reefer 3xl 900 developed a leak when it was 5 years old due to a production error. The kit has started to tear over a length of 44 cm in the side corner and has deflated. all corals including sps and lps and the fish did not survive. Red Sea will not do anything about it because it is outside their warranty. they do give a small discount on a new aquarium. There are many problems with their aquariums that they don't talk about. we are very disappointed!!!!

Red Sea do not stand behind their…
Red Sea do not stand behind their warranty. One of the reason I purchased from this company was the warranty. I completed the warranty registration to extend it to 5 years. And noticed the seal was discolored and took a closer look and discovered water was behind the seal. After doing some research I found that this was a common situation. After contacting the company with video and proof of purchase. They stated that it was out of warranty and offered a discount on a new model. Stay away from this company they don’t stand behind their warranty and the quality of the products are defective.

Abysmal quality control!
Abysmal quality control!I went through 3 new Red Sea ATO sensors in a very short time. It makes it super unreliable. And the one thing an ATO has to be is reliable.

Silicone Failure!
Silicone Failure! My reefer 250 had a catastrophic failure of the silicone seam that caused water damage to my condo and complete loss of everything in the tank! When I contacted RedSea they offered 30% off a new aquarium and when I asked to speak with a supervisor they rescinded their offer. Total joke of a company! I will be referring this to an attorney.

Bad silicone!!!
Very nice aquarium and well thought out. Unfortunately, my aquarium got a bubble in the silicone after 3.5 years, and the bubble has continued to grow. This is TOTALLY unacceptable poor quality in an aquarium. The only answer I got from Red Sea was the advice to empty the aquarium and re-glue. There is no way I would recommend these aquariums to anyone.

Been a fantastic consumer experience having bought the complete set - one transformer was faulty and got hold of someone immediately and they got a new one immediately. When I didn’t understand things they always got back with detailed answers super quickly

I’ve got the red seat max nano
I’ve got the red seat max nano. I have an issue with connecting my LED lights to Wi-Fi and this isn’t the first time this has happened. Red seas customer service is a joke, I’ve been texting back-and-forth now for three weeks trying to get the problem solved. You can imagine what my corals looking like. I will never buy another Red Sea product again!

I bought a new reefer 170
I bought a new reefer 170, the down flow valve that comes with it is absolutely rubbish, the water level in the weir was either up or down and when down you get loads of gurgling which is a real nuisance. Set it and before no time the level simply just alters itself! On fairness red sea provided a replacement valve twice but it made little difference. Researched online and others have had this same issue and some changed it altogether using a different gate valve. I chose not to and got rid of the tank and really glad to see the back of it! Would not have a Red Sea again even it was free, I suggest something else if it helps not red sea reefer.
