Amazing! Very detailed and goes through logic, tips on reading, and answering questions. Worth it!
This is an excellent course. It certainly helped me improve my understanding of CARS in a way that I could not do by myself. He's very thorough and comprehensive. Thanks a lot for your help!
Do not trust Redwood MCAT! They claim to give your money back if you aren't pleased, and they did not return my money when I asked for it within 30 days! I didn't see an improvement in my score after using this so do not fall for this!
I got this course after 2 unsuccessful MCAT attempts, but it helped me so much on my 3rd try (502-->510; CARS 124-->127). Gabe really goes over HOW to read MCAT passages, not only for CARS, but in general. After going through the course, I found myself struggling less with timing and started understanding the passages/the important points more. I saw consistent improvement in my scores in CARS and BB, specifically. In addition to this, Gabe really is an accessible resource once you have the course. You can email and ask him about things and he always does his best to not only help, but alleviate the stress around the MCAT and CARS, in particular.
Amazing course. Went from 124 to 126 in the actually test in 1 month! Wish I would have started earlier. Amazing tips! The only course out there that actually helps you strengthen your intuition about CARS rather than memorizing prep company useless gimmicks. Highly recommended
I started a third party MCAT prep course and very early on I knew their approach to CARS was not for me. I kept practicing on my own and was consistently scoring around 126. I looked online for different options to improve my CARS skills and came across Gabe's free course. I initially completed that and I saw a big improvement right away. His systematic and clear approach to the passages was the first time I felt like someone could actually help me get better. I bought the full course and it was totally worth it. I worked through the majority of the AAMC passages with the course - I have 2 young kids and a full-time job so I needed something that was efficient and effective, I had no time to waste. Gabe's course was both of those things. I was consistently scoring 130 on the practice exams. In the real thing I felt brutalized after Chem/Phys and let it get in my head for CARS but I still got a 129. I'm happy with my score overall and I honestly can't recommend this course enough.
CARS can seem like it makes no sense but Gabe gives you as close to a formula as you can get for CARS. I really appreciated his breakdowns about the different AAMC material (not just CARS) and how to best use them plus his general guidelines about non-AAMC CARS. I was self-studying for the MCAT so this aspect was SUPER important and helpful to me. Having the videos was super helpful because I could go back to them to see his logic behind questions and make sure mine was similar even if I was retaking the sections. I was even able to apply some of the general skills Gabe talked about to the science sections and saw a huge boost in my score and confidence by doing that.
Very happy I went ahead with this course, it bumped me up from a 124 (scored that two consecutive years) to a 128. had been skeptical of paying for any MCAT prep but this was totally worth it — no more MCAT rewrites! Gabe's videos are easy-to-watch, practical, and insightful. I did not have a "method" for CARS in my previous two MCAT sittings; this time I did. Definitely recommend to anyone who struggles with CARS
As someone who has taken the MCAT several times over 2 years, I have tried everything under the sun to improve my CARS score (121): 3rd party strategies and a 3rd party CARS course, reading books, my friends' methods, and my own method. Nothing seemed to click. Then, I invested in Gabe's one-on-one tutoring sessions. What I appreciate most about Gabe is he understands there is no "one-size fits all" approach. With that said, his strategy was extremely easy to learn, easy to apply, and worked for me! (Take it from someone who has tried everything!)In short, he helped me improve my CARS score from 121 to 126. This month, I scored a balanced 511, and am so grateful for Gabe's help. As you work with Gabe, you'll see how you can also apply his method to the sciences.I wish I had known about his tutoring earlier. His lessons are truly priceless. All of the great reviews are 100% true - if you need help in CARS, Gabe is the one!
The first time I wrote CARS on the MCAT, my strategy was to practice as much as possible, which proved to be relatively ineffective. This time around I chose to take a risk and invest in Gabe's course. It was especially attractive compared to the competitors due to the fair price and overwhelmingly fabourable reviews. The course was an adjustment at first, Gabe's approaches were different than what I had developed naturally. After a short adjustment period, I noticed a very distinct difference in my understanding of the passages, and my approach to the questions. I was able to fully adapt Gabe's strategy, and felt a lot more confident on test day this time. This time around I was able to improve to a 127! Before I started the course, I couldn't score above 125 on any practice. All of the resources you need to succeed are given in the course. Gabe is extremely helpful throughout the course, and is constantly in touch with all of us to monitor our progress. It's clear he cares about our success. I only wish I knew about this course the first time!
Let me just start by saying that LITERALLY Gabe was the the main reason I did so good in Cars on my MCAT. I was scoring 124/126/122/124 on my F1/2/3/4 from AAMC then I was able to score a 127 on the real exam. Just to give you some context that my first language is not english and I did better then many of my friends who's first language is english. Also many of my friends who where doing better than me in the Fl's in CARS ended up dropping points in CARS and I was the only one who was able to go up and that is because of Gabes strategy that he taught me. The MCAT is a strategy exam and it contributes to 80% of your performance and Gabe didn't just teach me a strategy and expect me to replicate it every time like many other third party MCAT tutors, Gabe takes the time to learn who you are as a person and develop a strategy for YOU and that was what help me break that 125 in the exam. He works with you on what you like and don't like and takes your suggestions to develop your strategy which I loved because every student is different and one strategy does not fit all. Beyond cars my science scores (CP and BB) where always 130+ so we didn't really work on any of those sections but he would give me advice when I made mistakes which where usually reading mistakes. Lastly my PS was always above a 125 but never above 130 but Gabe was able to give me advice on how to improve what to do where to go to find information and helped me go over my reading mistakes. You have made it this far and im sure you are wondering what my MCAT score was and it really doesn't matter, it was a 517++ and the only reason I give you that information is so you understand that I did REALLY well on the exam and Gabe was a large part of that success, even closer to my exam dates may of our tutoring session would revolve around talking about what Im going to be doing rather that practicing cars. PS: stay off MCAT reddit that place is filled with trolls and people who claim they got 520+ who really didn't. If you want real advice you take Gabe as a tutor period.
Gabe is the man. I wish I didn’t waste time and money on other CARS help. He immediately improved my timing. Not only did he help me improve on CARS and become more consistent, he also made the rest of the test less stressful by not feeling rushed and panicked for 80 minutes. Definitely recommend!
Gabe is a phenomenal CARS tutor. The CARS section was the one I dreaded the most on the MCAT by far. When I learned about Redwood, I got into contact with Gabe, received a quick response, and had a lesson set up within a week. Before we met, I had already been through a plethora of practice materials, but going through passages with Gabe made me realize he has the section down to a science. It took me months to learn the best tips and strategies by reading books, but Gabe taught them to me in a matter of weeks. No matter where you are in your studies, even if you're weeks out from your exam, reaching out to Redwood will help your score. Once you work with Gabe and learn how to think about the questions and what they're really asking, CARS is easy. To my surprise, I even improved in B/B and Psych/Soc as my comprehension skills increased. In the end, I could confidently tackle AAMC passages with ease. Do yourself a favor, lighten the MCAT study load, and reach out. You won't regret it!
Gabe helped me get from a 123 on my first attempt to a 127. I attribute my score to his videos, mainly how in-depth his analysis is on AAMC questions and answer choices. I realized from my first attempt that antagonizing CARS and viewing it as an unnecessary section was not a good idea. I am one of the students who consistently suffered with poor critical reading scores on the SAT/ACT and on my first MCAT attempt. I thought it was a crapshoot and I was doomed to have a 123. Gabe's initial videos explained that CARS is an important section that is definitely doable. He focuses specifically on AAMC logic, the only logic that matters for this exam. The course is completely self-paced and easy to access while concurrently studying for the other sections. His explanations and videos are crystal clear and if there was any question I had, I could count on his prompt email responses to my questions. Thank you so much for your help, Gabe!
Gabe helped me tremendously with CARS, and the MCAT overall. He is patient and easy to talk to. Studying for the exam can be a stressful ordeal; but Gabe helped the process become less daunting. He will address your weaknesses, and give you methods to help improve your CARS score. Before Gabe's coaching, I struggled tremendously with timing, which effected my overall score. After a few weeks of Gabe's coaching, I was able to consistently finish on time, and even finished with spare time on the real deal. He helped me stray away from bad habits I had with CARS, and I was able to apply his teachings on test day. Aside from strategy and practice, Gabe gave me more confidence when it came to taking the exam. I highly recommend his services if you are struggling with CARS. I couldn't have reached my goal without his help.
Gabe was by far the best tutor I have ever had! I never really thought it was possible to improve on the MCAT CARS section, but after working with Gabe, it gave me a lot of confidence to know that CARS was a skill, just like any other skill, that can be improved upon strategic practice. Before I took this course, I tried the Kaplan method, I used Exam Crackers 101 passages book, the Jack Westin Method and nothing worked. My problem was that I was overcomplicating it and I wasn’t consistent with what I should do. I was stuck, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t score past a 123 on any CARS section. I was slowly losing hope until I came across this course.I worked with Gabe for many weeks on reading strategy, question strategy, and timing strategy. Through a lot of effort and determination, my score in CARS started to improve. I was moving on to 124’s, then 125’s and finally 126’s. Not only that, but Gabe’s method allowed me to improve on all the other MCAT sections as well, even though I only got tutoring in CARS. I always felt that the Chem/Phys section was difficult to improve on, but after learning the CARS strategy, my C/P section skyrocketed out of nowhere! I went from a 124 in C/P to 128 just by improving my approach on how to answer questions. It was great to see that I was finally improving on the dreaded CARS section. Reading comprehension has always been a challenge for me, and you can only imagine how difficult CARS would be with the logic-based reasoning questions and the added time pressure. I am very thankful for all Gabe has taught me through my MCAT journey and I can’t recommend him enough!Gabe is not only a great teacher but a wonderful friend as well! He was willing to talk to you about anything, and when you were feeling down, stressed, or anxious, he would listen to the things going on in your life, and tell you that you aren’t alone in this journey. I recommend to anyone who is struggling with CARS to take private tutoring with Gabe. I have been scoring 123’s on CARS for a year and I was shocked by how much I have been able to improve. It changed my whole mindset and it gave me hope that I can actually get into med school. If you have any doubts about this course, I say give it a try and you will be surprised.
Gabe helped me so much with CARS. Before coming to him I was super discouraged with the MCAT in general and really didn't know what to do or how to start studying for a retake. I felt that I had blown through all of the AAMC resources but he is really reassuring and can really help people get the hang down with CARS!
I was scoring a 121 on CARS before I started working with Gabe. Over the course of 3 months, Gabe helped me improve my score up to a 126/127. I ended up scoring a 126 on the real deal. To me, I was ecstatic to receive that score since I struggled with CARS from the beginning. Gabe not only offers you a systematic way to tackle passages that is tailored to your strengths, but he also is a great emotional resource. Having taken the MCAT himself, Gabe understands the rigor, demand, and pressure that is placed on students when they study for the MCAT. He was a great resource to vent to about the whole process and was able to offer sound, positive, and constructive advice when I needed it the most. I really enjoyed my time working with Gabe and he was a really positive influence while I studied for my MCAT!
Impactful ExperienceMy experience with Gabe was extremely insightful. I focused mainly on CARS during our sessions but the strategies he discussed with me helped me across the board. I started with Gabe after doing poorly on the CARS section on my first MCAT. We worked together and I improved my CARS score by 5 points to get my score in the 520+ range. I would highly recommend Redwood MCAT.
I remember taking the MCAT last year and being sorely disappointed with a 126 in CARS. I had practiced with all the Kaplan passages, Jack Westin, and the Khan Academy passages for months leading up to my exam. It was brutal knowing that all my CARS practice was not fruitful in terms of my score. So this year, I decided to go another route and try Gabe’s CARS Mastery Course and it was the best decision I made for my CARS prep. I initially scored a 126 on my first MCAT and with Gabe I improved to a 130 on AAMC FL 3!! Before I started the CARS Mastery program with Gabe, I went into each passage with no strategy. My goal was to quickly read the passage and answer the questions. This was futile and I missed nearly half the questions on each passage. Gabe has a simple, but effective strategy that doesn’t involve gimmicks like other test prep companies. His strategy centers around finding the main idea woven into each paragraph and his CARS Qpack videos detail his rational and logic behind finding the Main Idea in every passage. After a few weeks into the program, I found myself being able to slowly replicate his methods during my practice passages. I was learning the methodology behind the AAMC CARS passages instead of memorizing tactics like “don’t pick extreme answer choices.” Not only did I see a drastic improvement in my scores on the question packs, but my reading comprehension fundamentally improved. I remember initially reading passages and making it to the end with no grasp on what the author was saying which lead to a vicious cycle of reading questions, going back to the passage to find answers, and ultimately wasting time. Not only did Gabe’s CARS Mastery Course help improve the number of correct answers I got on CARS passages, but he helped me understand CARS AAMC content. I used this program from June to September and it was an invaluable resource preparing for my MCAT. I finally felt confident for the CARS section. Gabe was such a kind and calming presence during my preparation and I actually looked forward to watching his CARS videos and practicing the AAMC passages.
