Refuses to help with Fraudulent Charges
I've been with Self for a long time. They helped me get my credit started. Nowadays, they went drastically down hill. I have been trying to dispute a fraudulent charge on my account for weeks now, and they just tell me "No, it's not". They say they investigated but they clearly didn't. I contacted the seller myself and they pointed me towards contacting my credit card provider. And this is a charge of $63, roughly.To kick it off even more, they have AI Customer Service people. Not all of them, but you run the risk of being aided by AI. I'm not playing this game. Get your act together.

The problem I have been having is when logging in, there is such a long delay in Self sending a code number and therefore i can’t make any changes for bank account or make a payment. The IT department may have to address the issue.

Wasn't too bad in the beginning
Wasn't too bad in the beginning. Probably had self for well past a year. My card got locked for "suspicious" activity and was unable to clear the card. Had no late payments, was under the credit limit, and have made the payment for that month early... Tried to reach chat and was disconnected probably 10-15 times, each time starting a new conversation. Finally got an email sent to verify everything only to be slapped in the face with, "don't reply to this email." Even after being told to reply to that email. Fees are insane, credit hasnt gone up in the months having it. $925 in deposits and only getting back $700 is kinda ridiculous. Finding a much better company for credit building needs.

Just want to warn everyone to please think twice before you join them.They’re running an absolute scam! I opened my account in December 2026, and due to personal issues ended up closing it today. I had paid a total of$65 during my with self and upon closing they only want to give me back $15.85. They had a bunch of bs excuses for trying keep the rest of my money. I filed a dispute with my bank and now just waiting. So I highly suggest getting a secured credit card and let them help you not self.inc

Everything is great besides the late…
Long story short, Everything is great seemingly, besides the obvious plot for late fees that build up whilst they're taking 3-4 days to actually complete your payment. It's confusing for beginners because you'd think youd paid them already and then a day later their asking for it again, thats wind up to be quite taxing on financial wellbeing and axietal health.

STAY AWAY AS A CONSUMER!!!!This company deceived me about there credit builder account after making 5 consecutive of $25 to obtain a credit card. After contacting this company multiple times & filing a complaint with the Customer Financial Protection Bureau the company closed my account and only reimburse me $67 out of the $160 that I payed in total. I have documentation and proof to provide law enforcement and legal counsel to assist further with this issue. The agents are very deceptive and unhelpful when it comes to rectifying issues. I will use other apps that doesn’t use predatory business practices and false advertisement to lure unaware consumers to apply for credit builder accounts.

Overall I like self I think it’s a great starter for building your credit the only con I had was someone had attempted fraud on my card and the representative did not treat me like a customer when I reported it he treated me like the criminal and I did not like that. I would recommend self to someone else.

Self Has gone down hill
Recently I encountered that calling the customer service number provided does not, and will not let you speak to anyone in customer service. I was double charged feom their site paying a self bill. I called to stop a one of the two pending charges but nope couldn't get anyone. They're really gone down hill. Last time I called last year for the same matter I got someone and they helped. Now it's a battle, so I had to call my bank to dispute it. It was great when it started years ago, but now. I will be moving on from self. Seems like they are being bought out, and
