Freezing, lacking basics amenities. Dishonest company

Dirty, freezing cold. WiFi, and tv broken. Hot tub wired dangerously which took out all of the electrics. No loo roll, no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets. Refused to turn the heating up. No fire wood. Offered us a "FREE" stay in compensation and then cancelled at the last minute, when we already had flights booked. They said the house was closed for renovation but actually it was still being advertised at £1600 for the week. Absolutely shameless pair of indivudals. Goes to show money cant buy you decency. Also the booking was on behalf of the charity i work for and she knew.

1) Filthy house and oil fumes

1) Filthy house - not as advertised. Large hair plug in downstairs shower not cleaned before we checked in. Hole in tiles in the downstairs shower. Mould stains in all bathrooms.Old cobwebs with dust on furniture and walls.Lots of flies which we expected in a rural place, but dead flies not cleared. Squashed dead fly on one of the picture frames. Dried cherry pip on skirting board in lounge.Paid extra for a hot tub but never used due to lots of sand/ sediment in bottom and dirt/ brown stain mark on side of hot tub.2) Strong smell of oil fumes in upstairs en-suite and bathroom and downstairs toilet. Oil boilers are situated in downstairs toilet. These were the only two rooms with air fresheners in them…. Host said it was from telegraph pole but smell was stronger when windows closed. This was also stated in pre-arrival information so smell must have been there for a while. We were experiencing headaches/ worsening asthma symptoms and sore throat. Within party of guests included three medical doctors and nurse. We raised this as a health concern. When raised with host she threatened to charge us if engineer called out and nothing was found. We moved out after the second night.3) Kitchen dirty - some drawers did not close properly and wood panels half nailed in. Cutlery and crockery with crusted food and dirt. Kitchen drawers with detritus - old food/ old bottle caps etc4) Garden overgrown. Pictures on hosts own website not reflective of the current state of the property. Crumbling walls. Do Not Book this house. Host defensive at all times and minimised the problems.

we booked Skyfallbath for 5 nights 17…

we booked Skyfallbath for 5 nights 17 August to 22 August 2025. There were 8 adults and 6 children and our dog. When we arrived the whole house was full of flies death and alive. It was so dusty especially the bedrooms and the lounge, fireplace etc. Our shower was so dirty full of hair from the last occupier that water cannot flow out and the mosaic tiles were coming off the wall. there were no towel bars to hang towels we had to put a chair in the bathroom to hold our towels. The flooring is cement when it gets wet and not cleaned properly the floor gets black mouldy patches. The wardrobe in our bedroom is so dusty the moment you open the door you can smell the dust you can't hang your clothes in there. Because of the flies we could not open the patio doors or windows and it is stiffling in the summer heat. we had to buy fly stickers and also use the spray so the whole house smelt of the spray especially in the kitchen and dinning area where food is being served. we paid extra £150 for the hot tub but it was full of sand we couldn't use it and no refund. when we complained sent text messages to the lady in charge according to her she said as far she is concerned there is nothing wrong with the place. We had to move out after staying 2 nights and looked for alternative accommodations. Wasted our holiday spending time dealing with this problem and looking for alternative accommodations at short notice. Photos advertised looks deceiving but our experience in this place is really disgusting.

Misleading Listing, Unhygienic Conditions, and Dishonest Hosting – Avoid Starfall Batheaston/Skyfall Farm

We recently rented a property called Starfall in Batheaston, Bath (UK), managed under the name Sophie Porter, though the individual behind the booking is actually Sarah Jane Campos-Martyn, operating through Skyfall Farm Ltd.What we encountered was nowhere near the standard advertised. The home was presented as a high-end country retreat but in reality was dusty, grimy and neglected. On arrival, we documented and immediately sent over 30 photographs of the thick dust, filthy dishes, broken dishwasher and tired furnishings. Despite this clear evidence, the host refused to acknowledge any issues and instead dismissed our concerns as unwarranted, suggesting we were expecting "5-star hotel" standards. For the record, we simply expected a clean, well-maintained home in line with what was advertised, especially given the premium price point. The most disappointing part wasn’t even the poor state of the property – it was the unprofessional, evasive and at times dishonest communication. Once we raised concerns, the tone changed. The host began blaming us for poor communication and even falsely claimed we left the property in bad condition — a tactic we now see has happened to other reviewers too.A quick online search shows a pattern of behaviour, including:1. Use of aliases (Sarah Jane Campos-Martyn marketing as Sophie Porter)2. A string of dissolved companies linked to the owner3. Several properties under Skyfall Farm Ltd or related with suspiciously glowing reviews — some of which appear self-authored or artificially inflatedWe have rented many homes across the UK and Europe and this was unfortunately one of the most disappointing and uncomfortable experiences we've had. We value rustic charm, we live in the country side next to farms ourselves, but basic cleanliness, functioning appliances and truthful advertising are non-negotiable.This is not just about one bad week — it's about holding property owners accountable when they advertise something they fail to deliver and then try to discredit guests who dare to complain. We share this not in anger, but in the hope that others can make an informed choice and avoid similar disappointment.

Bad experience

Firstly. Sarah Campos (Campos Martyn) whos left a 5 star review below is the actual host and company owner. So her review is fraudulent and miss leading. In regards to my review. I called the number on their website and it didnt ring through for me. Very bad experience when you are trying to get hold of them.

I had a great stay at this house

I had a great stay at this house, it was clean and well presented. I notice the bad reviews are all from two groups repeating the same issues. One seems to have blocked the drains, so no wonder they were charged. We had no issues with any appliances, everything worked. Sophie was friendly and communicated promptly and politely. This is a stylish house in a great location. Highly recommended

I would give 0 stars if I could

I would give 0 stars if I could. The cleanliness, attention to detail and general state of this air bnb was awful. We were met with excuses and the owner should not be allowed to offer this property. Broken appliances, bugs everywhere (dead and alive), poo stains in the toilet, dirty cushions....the list is endless.

What a shame!

I recently stayed at a house in Bath for a hen do with 15 other people, and it was an absolute nightmare. Upon arrival, we were horrified to find the house in a disgusting state. There were bugs and cobwebs everywhere, dust coated surfaces, and the skirting boards were filled with dirt. We even found leftover food in the kitchen and a toilet with unflushed poo. The hot tub was barely warm, making it unusable. The entire house had a horrible, unhygienic feeling that made us all want to shower immediately. To make matters worse, the dishwasher broke during our stay, and I had to clean it myself. All the cutlery and plates were dirty, so we had to wash everything before we could use it. The fridge was filthy, and we had to clean it thoroughly before storing any of our food. We had to go to great lengths to hide the mess from the bride-to-be so as not to upset her hen do.The house is in a stunning location, which makes the poor cleaning standards even more unacceptable, especially for a property that clearly hosts big events such as hen dos. It was incredibly disappointing, especially considering the owner had sent a long email prior to our stay with an extensive list of do’s and don’ts. We expected the cleaning standards to match her strict rules, but this was far from the case. Despite paying over £2,000 for the weekend, we haven't received any compensation for the appalling conditions. I would not recommend anyone stay here. It was a huge letdown and a waste of money. Avoid this property at all costs.

Where do I start?

Where do I start? There were 15 of us coming together to give my youngest daughter the best hen. Fortunately, the following comments did not spoil that. Some of the hens arrived early to decorate the place and found to their disgust not the cleanest of places!Having to clean the kitchen/ dining area before they commenced to decorate was not what they expected!Anyway on arrival of the rest of the gang we all checked out the rest of the house and were not best pleased. All agreed we had been well and truly ripped off. The only bedroom to have wardrobes/drawers was the ensuite bedroom off the kitchen. Now you may think not an issue, however considering we all had our glad rags obviously we expected to be able to hang stuff up.All weekend whenever we either washed up or used the dishwasher there would be water running out over the floor. On checking the filter in the dishwasher thinking it may be clogged up, there was found to be broken glass in the basket of the filter. Now would you not expect the whole house should be checked for cleanliness and any other issues between lets, obviously not the case at Starfall. On Sunday morning the host was contacted to advise her of the issues we had, wanting to update her prior to the arrival of the next group. She was most belligerent, and even had the nerve to say the dishwasher was not leaking, you only have to look back at previous reviews to see this was not a new issue. She even tried to say she had let the house to us at a discounted price, over 2 grand for 3 nights, really?Originally some of us where staying an extra night on the Sunday, but following the phone call to the host we decided against it.All the bedrooms smelt damp, there were cobwebs, old cobwebs not nice new webs made by spiders to catch their lunch, hanging down from behind radiators, dust in corners of the rooms, even what looked like mouse droppings in the toilet by the front door. The host expected us to believe it was due to the house being in the countryside. Having grown up in the countryside myself, I feel her argument to be rubbish, she obviously thought she could confuse a group of townies! All in all I could never seriously consider recommending this place, the 1 star given is simply because we were all together and able to make the weekend memorable for my daughter and the location is beautiful.

Needs a new host!

Most of our Hen weekends seem to be spending time noting down and sending the host messages regarding defects with the property and its resources. After receiving a very full comprehensive check-in list of do’s and don’ts, we felt it essential to inform Sophie - the host - immediately of any breakages and concerns we had foubd, not wanting any blame to rest on us and our deposit for previous issues - how naive!! Broken fridge shelves, toilet door locks, leaks and puddles of stagnant water under the dishwasher/sink in the kitchen and downstairs shower. Only waist high or lower shower attachments, poor general cleanliness; Easter eggs found from previous guests, dried-on food on crockery and jugs, sediment in the hot-tub, which wasn’t warm enough, house temperature sat at 18° which was chilly, not enough beds made up for the amount of guests booked in! Piès de Résistance, an overflowing septic tank (pictures available) all before Saturday afternoon – we arrived Friday night! This last was rodded out whilst we were still there, and Sophie apologised for this happening during our stay – then proceeded to keep our deposit to cover the invoice for said clearing works. My advise is - avoid at all costs.

Disappointing hen do

+ good flow of hot water+ nice garden + main bed was qui the comfy- leaking kitchen sink- wouldn’t let us alter the heating even though it was freezing the first night- lack of basic supplies (tea towels, toilet roll for the weekend)- cupboards in the kitchen don’t shut (caught my back on one and bruised quite badly)- mouldy bathroom door in main bedroom (due to lack of shower curtain/door)- septic tank overflowed (bare in mind I grew up with a septic tank, AND my mum keeps an airbnb with one, so is well aware you must make sure you have the appropriate tank/ maintaining skills to allow residents)- lady tried to charge us extra for the hot tub (already organised through the hen do company)- all issues reported to her on arrival so she knew it wasn’t us and then STILL tried to keep the £500 deposit AND tried to invoice my mum a further £200. WHAT a joke.______________After having planned my hen do a year in advance, I was really looking forward to it. My mum, bless her, had booked this place for 15 of us, after being told it would sleep at least 16. One of the beds was a sofa bed which would have been fine but it wasn’t even made up on arrival. The lady wrote a HUGE email about all the to dos when we stayed. Now I’m not a disrespectful person, I like to treat a hotel/ airbnb as I would my own home, it’s someone’s livelihood BUT when you don’t supply basics - like enough loo rolls for 15 people for a 3 night stay - or demand we take the bins out (which is what you pay the cleaning fee for), or supply simple things like tea towels, you maybe expect a little gesture for a hen do or a birthday. The lady who owns this place is a con-artist. The walls are basic plaster and not even painted. The floor is pure concrete and some of the bathrooms won’t even have locks. The pots/pans were dirty. There was a constant leak of water from under the sink/ dishwasher.Either way, I would stay here again and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it.

A disappointing stay

A disappointing stay A wonderful weekend was marred by a constant stream from start to finish of unecessary and unpleasant discoveries. From the dirty dishes hidden in the cupboards, broken equipment (nespresso machine, fridge, kitchen cupboards), the cleaning which seemed cursory at best, to the faulty, smelly and unusable dishwasher (which the owner was aware of before our arrival but had chosen to not ascertain what the issue was or fix it). The icing on the cake was the overflowing septic tank (I'll leave that to your imagination) and the showers which were not usable when standing. The ovens were positively dangerous and the house is not really equipped to sleep 16 unless you are comfortable on a very sub-standard sofa bed (not even made ready for our arrival) and you are happy to squeeze around a table best made for seating a maximum of 10/12 people. I could go on but I think you've probably got the general idea! Such a shame as the location is delightful and with some simple and much needed modifications and a user friendly cleaning and owner service this would be a very beautiful place to stay. In it's current state I would give it a miss.

Avoid the hassle of this property unless serious changes made!!

The owner Sophie was condescending and short. Although her responses were quick, poor service was the forefront of our experience. It was meant to be a relaxing memorable “Hen party” for my sister… it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The property had potential but was poorly maintained and unclean. *Overgrown garden *There were coffee stains down the TV wall *Fluff/ hair under and beside the sofa’s*Broken cupboards/ draws in the kitchen. *2x blown lightbulbs in the kitchen.*Broken fridge drawers*Faulty- leaking dishwasher. *Blocked septic tank which initially she apologised for the inconvenience and later backtracked to accusing us. This was absolutely disgraceful behaviour on her part as it was impossible for our group to have made this blockage in the timeframe we had brought it to her attention and the duration of our stay. This was the icing on the cake when she kept our deposit and made it an absolute mission to fight it. When researching the property, reviews have since been found- almost exactly the same issues.Money grabbing- demanded a charge for change of temperature during our stay which at approx £100/pp/pn is extortionate. £100 if wanting to check in by 11am and check out by 2pm (As opposed to check in 4pm and out at 10am). OR £150 for freedom to check out whenever. This property was picked particularly for the hot tub, which was not hot and had no temperature gauge to alter the temperature. There was £100 charge to get the hot tub ready. Which to flick a switch to turn the machine on surely doesn’t warrant £100???

Don't recommend unless changed are made

Condescending homeowner, low cleanliness, essentials barely provided for. All the beds required were not set up.Only 15 'beds' present one being a sofa pull out in a small room with two singles already, even though it is advertised to house 16 people.Only allowed the house to be at 18 degrees, unless we wanted it higher to a more acceptable temperature... then we would be charged more per day. For the price we paid to stay, this was really unacceptable. Some dishes had food from previous use still on them. Shower heads were low and needed to be held to use, rather than sitting on the wall for a standing shower. There is such potential for a lovely stay, however with how Sophie dealt with our complaints or suggestions, it made the stay that much more uncomfortable. She tried and succeeded to charge our hen group for blocking the septic tank with sanitary products, when the problem was there before we arrived and we brought it to her attention only a day after arrival. Also only two of our group were on their period and neither flush their products.

Held my girlfriends 30th at the house…

Held my girlfriends 30th at the house with 16 of us. Beautiful spot and very isolated. House is really well kitted out and comfortable. Sarah was super responsive and gave our full deposit back swiftly. We will be taking advantage of the discount for a 2nd stay for sure!

Comfortable, relaxing Hen Weekend

Comfortable, relaxing Hen WeekendA group of 16 of us stayed here for my hen weekend in June. Arrival was very straight forward. There were a couple of very minor issues out of Sarah's control but when I emailed her about this, she was very quick to respond (within in the hour) and provided a resolution. There was a little dust but nothing really nothing major and it is to be expected of a rural property that isn't lived in daily so this is really clutching at straws and by no way a serious complaint. The beds were very comfortable and clean and we all slept well. That bathrooms were spotless. The kitchen was very well equipped (with a separate utility area) and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. A nice large open space for our group which opened out onto the garden. The garden is beautiful and well maintained with plenty of outdoor seating. The hot tub was set up ready for us to use and it was spotlessly clean. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the property gave us the best of both worlds - rural enough that we didn't disturb others but close enough to Bath for us to have an evening out. I wouldn't be put off by the negative comments - I assume these are a result of the pandemic which obviously had it's unfortunate impact on holiday makers and small business owners alike.

Terrible company and terrible customer…

Terrible company and terrible customer service. Do not book with them unless you want to be scammed. Our booking was cancelled two weeks before we were due to stay due to a double booking. It took us 3 weeks to get a refund. Not to be trusted.
