Misleading “free trial” and repeated false statements from customer support
The sweet.tv app advertises a 14-day free trial. However, when you accept the trial in the mobile app and are redirected to Apple Pay, the app immediately charges €9.99, with no trial period at all. This is already misleading, but the situation is made worse by multiple false and contradictory statements from customer support:• First, they claim that Apple automatically charges immediately when Apple Pay is used, and that a free trial is only possible if card details are entered directly. This is not true. Many apps offer 7- or 14-day free trials via Apple subscriptions, with charging only after the trial ends.• Second, they claim that they cannot issue refunds and that only Apple can do so.This is also not true. Any merchant can initiate a refund if they choose to.• Third, customer support now claims that the 14-day free trial requires entering bank card details, and that this is why card details must be provided. This statement is factually false in the mobile app. The app does not offer any option to enter card details at all. The only available payment method is Apple Pay, which immediately triggers the charge. After being refused a refund by sweet.tv, I contacted Apple directly, requested a refund, and reported the transaction as scam/fraud.This pattern of behavior is misleading, deceptive, and inconsistent, and it strongly suggests a deliberate attempt to confuse users.I do not recommend this service.
