Horrible

Honestly ! Theeee worst! Having been injured to no fault of mine their process of receiving funds is grueling and awful! Disgusting! It’s 2026 nothing should be this difficult! Between them and railroad retirements it’s like we are in the 19th century

Totally ripped me off

I had the Hartford for many years. The last year that i had them, my rates sky rocketed so I switched my auto insurance to a different company. I was paid in full through July 17th and my new insurance company took over on exactly July 17th. The Hartford sent me letters and told me I still owed them 220.00. I spoke with no less than 6 different people. Half of them told me I owed nothing and I was in good standing. The other half told me I owed the 220.00 and threatened me with being sent to collections. The people I spoke with that told me I owed said that it was for insurance provided after I had already switched insurance companies but that i am obligated to pay it. i got so tired of fighting it that i am now paying it off in payments so as to avoid collections and the hit to my credit rating. I know 100% that I owe them nothing, but am still stuck paying it. I would never recommend this insurance company to anyone. I would give them zero stars if that was possible.

Very satisfied with The Hartford! Their policies are clear, and the support team made the entire process simple from getting a quote to filing a claim.

The Hartford has been a dependable insurer for our home and auto policies. I appreciate how easy it is to manage policies online and how responsive their agents are when we have questions.

Most incompetent insurance company you…

Most incompetent insurance company you can imagine. Their payment gateway on their website has been offline for over a month. They won't take calls, all emails go to 'unmonitored' mailboxes. Based on their emails it appears they don't even know who their clients are or if their policy is active. Trying to renew a policy with a simple online payment is not possible. Contacting them is not possible. Resolving anything with them, even using insurance brokers who work with insurance companies is not possible. Steer clear of these scammers. I would hate to be in a position where I have to rely on them to cover any claims. Possibly the most incompetent insurance business on the face of the Earth. They couldn't even figure out how to renew policies for existing customers or how to reply to emails. No wonder they have no Google My Business profile publicly available! Thank you Trustpilot for allowing customers to showcase the truth about this company so as to warn others.

They were fine until we had an accident . They would not pay what they should have for a car with full coverage. Then they doubled the rate. They are great until you need to use it.

Bad company for handling FMLA

This company handles my FMLA requests for my employer. They make it impossible to get your requests approved, forcing you to jump through too many hoops to get documents filled out and waiting way too long to know if your leave has been approved. The people do not care about you.

This company is a joke

This company is a joke. They tried to deny me for a car accident while at work in my fleet car. A cobb county district attorney hit which ended up with me having 3 fractured vertebrae, small concussions, headaches, numbness in hands and feet, and a bruised knee at time of accident. Went to ER after accident and some lady calls me trying to tell me this case is denied. I laughed and told her my problems and she offered me $1000 dollars and then hung up on me after I laughed at her. I can keep going and going and going.

SCAM! DO NOT USE THEM

My horse got sick at the beginning of this year and went to a veterinary hospital to get treatment (antibiotics and fluids). Due to her being in the hospital we summitted a claim through insurance to cover her hospital stay. THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING. They claimed that she had a pre-existing condition that made her sick (she's anemic) even though it had nothing to do with why she was there. They checked her blood levels just to get a baseline, but nothing was done about it. After seeing our claim got denied we went to the doctor that treated her to get some clarification and she offered to write to the company to hopefully get some of the very expensive vet bill covered. The doctors also agreed that the company was just looking for a reason to not pay and that they did not treat anything that had to do with her anemia. After the doctors sent the email explaining, our claim got denied again. Now it was for something completely different and had nothing to do with anything they treated her for. They will look for anything in order not to pay. We had been with this company for years and had not taken a cent of their money AKA OUR MONEY that we pay each year and then when we actually need financial help with the vet bills, they are coming up with reasons that have nothing to do with the treatment. If you have two braincells to rub together you would know that the treatments have nothing to do with what they are claiming was wrong with her. They will not be getting another cent from us, and I wish we didn't waste 100s of dollars each year for absolutely nothing. (Also) It's not even like we wanted 20,000 dollars from them. It was 5000 coverage in major medical expenses.

Referral Gone Wrong

I was referred by a close friend, and got a VERY different experience. I was laughed at by the intake person, and then I was given extremely bizarre questions from underwriting. I was ultimately denied for reasons that made no sense based on the federal regulations for my industry - despite my referred friend having the same exact insurance and would not have passed the same bizarre questions. An absolute joke of an insurance company.

I was lied to repeatedly by Hartford

I was lied to. The quote I was given for my home and auto was not honored. The auto policy price increased twice in the month before the policy went into effect. When I canceled the policies Hartford claimed they had refunded my money but after a week the bank still had not received the funds. Hartford then claimed there may be and issue with the refund. If I wasn't checking the refund would have never happened Avoid at all costs. AARP should be ashamed for promoting this horrible company

Hartford Sucks

So, turned 55 and signed up for AARP resulting in Hartford Auto Insurance. Anything for lower cost, right? Well, they suck. Their roadside service is unbelievable, AI generated, you can't get a live person on the website or by phone except to jerk you around and say that's another department which then results in a transfer, a sudden termination of the call, and no way to obtain answers. Per their website, where I as a multi year customer at this point am prevented from filing a review, they are wonderful, and everybody loves them, which means fake reviews. There is nothing like being at the side of the road in a snow storm and having to call around for tow trucks because AI decided there was tire issue when no tire issue was reported, by text, which is the only response you will get, after you put in 100 pieces of information (like they have never heard of you before), and then direct you to a business that doesn't do what you need, after charging money for a service that is supposed to be included, which requires you to pay by credit card, right then and there or your roadside service AI Text will not be completed. Expletive Expletive Expletive.

This is an atrocious company that…

This is an atrocious company that actively works to avoid covering you. They have declined multiple colleagues and myself for “anxiety”. My anxiety has been stable for many years. I’ve never needed to file a short term or long term disability for anything, ever. I tried to appeal the decision with a letter from my psychologist and the letter said “we declined your request for Long term disability and weekly disability coverage due to situations depression and anxiety… Medical underwriting focuses on past and present health, including height and weight measurements of an individual and the implications to their health for the future as it relates to our risk parameters.” I’m requesting the medical information they used to decline coverage. It is like pulling teeth getting any information from this company. When I initially got declined I sent an email to their underwriting email asking for what information I need for my Doctor to appeal it (they said that if you want to appeal it please send a letter in regard to the reason you were declined, but didn’t give any details). I got a formulaic letter in the mail about a week later with no answer via email and they considered that an appeal. When they got the letter sent from my therapist, they did not explain why it was still declined. When I contact the toll-free number 800–3 31–7234. I speak with representatives, who are honestly trying, but are in a very tough decision since they have no control. They relay information but advised me that there’s no way to speak with anyone of the medical underwriting and they are not allowed to make outbound phone calls. The inability to communicate with the people that are asking for more information is very confusing to me. In addition, I get the strong impression that their goal is to not offer coverage. If you have the power, I would strongly avoid using this company as they are not genuinely trying to help people. They are clearly trying to make as much money and deny as many people coverage as possible.

Easy to get coverage, hard to reduce.

I didn't have any problems with this company, until I requested to reduce my coverage. It took several attempts, via email and phone, and they consistently just parroted back the coverage I had, never acknowledging the request to remove certain things.I ended up canceling and finding another company. I can't pay premium prices for subpar communication. And had I ever needed to submit a claim, lord knows how difficult that could have been given how hard this simple request was.
