Incompetence bordering on fraud
I hired Treepublic to install a solar panel system with backup batteries.Solar:The solar installation went smoothly, and I’m happy with that portion of the project.Batteries:The battery side of the job has been a completely different story. It took a long time to get scheduled, which I could live with — but the bigger issue was how it was installed and how Treepublic handled the problems that followed. When they first installed the batteries, they rushed the job and set them up not for whole-house backup as promised by their sales rep, but only for a subset of internal circuits. That excluded major energy users like my air conditioning and EV chargers — which were the very reason their salesperson recommended the battery system in the first place. After that initial install, the batteries powered lights and small appliances, but the major circuits still pulled from the grid. I raised the issue immediately to both Treepublic and the sales rep. It took an unreasonably long time to get any response, and I ultimately had to threaten legal action for failing to deliver what was sold to me.Eventually, they admitted the initial install was wrong and sent a crew to reconfigure the system to include the remaining circuits. After that change, the batteries stopped working entirely. They no longer provide power to any circuits, even though they show as “on” — essentially sitting idle.I contacted Treepublic again. They didn’t know what was wrong. They promised a technician would come out the next day. No one showed up. No calls. No updates. I followed up, and customer service was unresponsive. At this point, I have paid $68,000 for a battery backup system that doesn’t work, and Treepublic has repeatedly failed to resolve the issue or deliver the service I was sold. I’m once again exploring legal options because I feel this was a case of misrepresentation and failure to perform.
