VEG is run and owned by greedy psychopaths
Over seven day period. These people watched my dog die. They did nothing to help her. Yes, they charged $5000 to do blood test and x-rays and tell me what’s wrong but they did nothing to save her. These are greedy psychopaths the young kids that work there can’t save a pets life. They’re young and clueless to add insult to injury they lied and blamed me save your money go to your vet. These people running this shit show are psychopaths.

Recent visit based on DVM Funkhauser…
Recent visit based on DVM Funkhauser who was way out of line. She called Animal Control because my sport /service dog had a brief altercation with my other dog both belgian intact males. It was a minor injury and many dogs come in there from dog bites. These were 2 of my own vaccinated highly trained sport dogs that accidently got together. Dr Funkhauser was way out of line. She even reported my dog as the wrong breed...cant she read the chart? She is being reported to the Veterinsry Board. Up until now I gave very high ratings to VEG but will never go back to my local VEG in Oceanside CA nor recommend to my business clients. Encinitas has a better team.

Inexperienced staff, inadequate medical equipment, overcharges for euthanasia
My complaint involves the lack of experienced staff and appropriate medical equipment and the outrageous prices for euthanasia. I took my dying cat to VEG in Pikesville, MD the day before Thanksgiving. She had suddenly collapsed, could barely move, and was clearly in great pain. We were seen fairly promptly by a group of very young vets, who correctly diagnosed her cancer but did not have the sonogram machine necessary to determine what had caused her sudden collapse. Given what VEG charges, the lack of this equipment is bizarre. I took my cat home hoping she'd hang on for my own vet to see but had to bring her back on Thanksgiving to be euthanized. She suffered horribly and unnecessarily for 24 hours because VEG did not have sonographic tools, and the staff were simply too inexperienced to know that she likely had a tumor that had burst and needed to be euthanized immediately. Then to my shock I was charged more than $500 for euthanasia. When I called the crematorium, they were surprised to hear what I had paid. And I just learned that VEG sends a "donation" to our mismanaged city animal shelter for every euthanized pet, without telling the pet owners. I am currently trying to find out about this bizarre scheme, which is especially surprising because VEG is in a neighboring county, not the city. I would not go to VEG ER again and would advise others against it. Note that I am not blaming them in any way for my cat's death. She could not have been saved, but she could have been spared 24 hours of agony.

I took my dog to the VEG in…
I took my dog to the VEG in Jacksonville Fl . I have a puppy that is diabetic and was throwing up and had diarrhea. We were told her sugar was really high and they need to get her rehydrated and everything under control. We were all onboard and had a plan in place. No problem. We didn't even have an issue when we were told the cost could be $8000 potential. Here is the issue.... They moved us out of one of their private rooms because they said she pulled her port out and put her in a kennel because it was easier on them to watch her and (as the nurse said) "I do have 6 patients and can't keep coming back in here". 😳. Then because of her diarrhea they wanted to put a ballon up her rectum to keep from having to clean the puppy pads. I told them no. I told them I know that makes it easier on THEM but she was already irritated from the diarrhea and I didn't want that done. The doctor looked at me and said "fine, we'll keep changes the pads in her kennel" and then glared at me. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDSING ME???!?!!??! I'm paying you $8000 and you want me to make YOUR job easy for my sick fur baby?!?!? If you don't want to be in this job market QUIT!

One employee destroyed any reputation they had
A young bird was injured in our backyard, unknown how it happened. We called around and were directed to VEG. I called and spoke to a very polite woman named Brianna. We drove the 45m to take the bird in to them. Once there, they were backed up with other cases and a rescue bird was not a priority. I understand that completely; the issue was how we were treated once there. Brianna was polite and assured us the young bird would be looked after. However, the other woman who kept trying to get us to just give up the bird was quite rude, and completely turned us off. We called back later to ask if the youngling had survived, knowing it was a long shot, but we wanted to know. Their company policy is not to disclose any information once any animal has been surrendered. Now, sitting at home, thinking about the entirety of the experience, we should have kept the bird with us, kept it warm and let it pass in peace. Instead, it was stressed and appeared to completely give up once we took it out of our care. We have talked all night about our experience and decided, we will not take another animal there for rescue. If everyone was like Brianna, possibly would go back. But the other female we dealt with, blonde and no name tag, no way. She did not have a caring attitude and was more concerned about getting us out the door. We regret taking the bird to the Winter Park, FL location off of Fairbanks Ave.

Sick cat transferred to shelter with no medical treatment.
I brought a sick stray cat to VEG ER in Saint Petersburgs Fl. In hopes of medical treatment. I was caring for him in the back yard of a someone I was visiting long term, I was earning his trust and looking for a forever home for him. He was a really sweet kitty :(I viewed footage of him from outside cameras violently vomiting in the early morning and looking sluggish by noon, and never show up for breakfast, I feared he was poisoned, obviously he needed medical attention. I found him that evening curled in a ball very weak. I brought him to VEG ER, based on the little I know of the area. I was told VEG ER accepts strays in emergencies for medical treatment, THEN they'd transfer them to a shelter. The catch is, you surrender the cat to them. They don't give you updates. Meaning you will never know what, if anything was done. You would never think they would do absolutely nothing, right!? Think again.I left this sweet little thing in their care and they did NOTHING! No exam, no pain meds, NOTHING. They let him suffer in a cage all night, only to hand him over to Pinellas County animal shelter in the morning, where AGAIN, no exam, no treatment, only suffering! I tried to get him back, adopt him, anything I could to get him some medical help. They would not allow it. He was in their custody. I could not help him. When I finally spoke with a higher up, I was told he had still been vomiting, not eating and started passing black stool so he was euthanized. I said, yes because he's likely been bleeding internally from poison, which I did mention that concern to VEG ER. This cat had been suffering for days due to VEG ER's negligence.*The issue I’m raising here is not their surrender policy issue, it is that a visibly ill, suffering animal was kept overnight in your ER without any medical intervention, and then transferred to the shelter in the same condition. He was placed on a stray hold and again, received no treatment. After continued vomiting and not eating, he developed black stool and was ultimately euthanized due to his decline. The suffering this little cat went through is heartbreaking and sickening that it was allowed.

READ YOUR BILL!
READ YOUR BILL!! Don't pay until you are about to walk out the door. First estimate: $1646Second estimate: $800Billed: $864Told I was due a $194 refund for services not rendered. Okay, great. As I was ready to walk out the door, suddenly, I owed them $95 more. What? They couldn't (or wouldn't) explain why. I asked for specifics, they wouldn't give it to me. I asked for an itemized statement, they gave me a doctored one without any specifics about the refund and/or the additional $95 charge. Overall, I would be very careful about their business model practices. They are all about the $$ vs. anything else. They also lack good communication skills. Make sure they acknowledge what you have told them so you don't end up paying for things that have nothing to do with why you are there.

BEWARE!!!
BEWARE!!!Dr. Anthony Chance ofVeterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Brentwood, MissouriIs a heartless, sadistic, monster! He gave my cat the wrong drugs. This was confirmed by another veterinarian. As a result she suffered horribly for over an hour before she was euthenized when I requested, "extra comfort measures". He showed no remorese, took zero responsibility, was utterly heartless and very self-rightious. He is a terrible vet who should not be allowed to work with animals.

Immoral
Immoral? Try Morally bankrupt. Took my 10yo GSD in Sunday night into this disgusting excuse for a veterinary facility. After the scumbags tried to strong arm me with $1100 in unconsented charges and none of which included antibiotics they failed my dog. She was definitely on borrowed time and probably should have been offered that option but these greedy scumbags kept rolling the ticker until I refused a 24 stay at $3500 and they brought her out in a gurney and she died this morning. If you read this and want to know how to file a complaint with the vet board let me know. Every pet and patient deserves dignity and they are mighty greedy and wolves in this facility. Called today to inform them and “crystal” (unclear because she spoke like she had a mouth of food) hung up on me.I will soon have a live site to address the bottom feeding and criminal activity at Veg.It will be a blessing when I get an injunction to shut down this consumer pet trap and revoke every vet of a license so they can peddle bullshit someplace else, like out of this country. Thanks VEG for giving me my dying dog back so she could suffer all night as a result of your gross negligence and disregard for any integrity or morality. Consumer protection violations all around. Watched them scam the groups of loving pet owners around me like charlatans. My dog probably needed to be put down last night but owership and the board want $$$$. Well you pay for this indiscretion VEG.

VEG went above and beyond in the…
VEG went above and beyond in the treatment of our fur baby. He has gone through hell for 5 days due to the treatment he received at a local urgent care. We are now on the road to a full recovery.

VEG saved my precious cat's life!
My cat was dying and they figured out what was wrong when a previous clinic had not. They got a specialist in to do an ultrasound that same night, when no other place I contacted could do so. My cat was given the right treatment and has fully recovered!I particularly appreciated the efficiency and kindness of all with whom I dealt during a long and stressful night, and the way the vet and other staff kept me informed.

Immoral
The most immoral provider I have ever worked with. Our dame labored for 2 hours in the night, and we brought her to this place to see why the pup wasn't coming. They refused to give us prognosis or next steps and proceeded to just let her labor for 2 more hours at the clinic. Then we were told her pup was too big to birth naturally, and both the pup and dame would die without an immediate c-section. It was only then that they finally told us it would cost almost SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS! They deliberately withheld prognosis and pricing information and used up all our time and options so we could not find another provider. Finally, under threat of death they charged us triple the price for an emergency c-section anywhere else. Avoid these hostage holders at all costs!

Way overpriced
Way overpriced! They charged $562 to euthanize a sick guinea pig. I paid half of that amount to euthanize my full-grown dog! They take advantage of families with "semi" exotic pets (i.e. guinea pigs!!!) that are in desperate situations. I would not go here. Find an emergency vet that cares about PEOPLE and not just their bottom line!

I visited the Carle Place
I visited the Carle Place, NY office. I arrived with a messy dog who pooped and threw up in the car and the first thing they did was clean her up for me. Offered what services they felt were needed and the price. Never forced anything on me and discussed all options without judgment. My baby had to stay the night and the updates were timely and informative. I didnt know this place existed but will now NEVER forget. They were absolutely AWESOME :)

My Dog Ate A Tennis Ball
My dog ate a tennis ball while playing at a dog park. When I got to him, it was too late; and he already swallowed most of it. My Vet helped me to induce vomit, but not much came out. He advised me to go to the nearest VEG. Dr. Anna Taylor at the Falls Church, VA location was the one to take charge. She administered more vomit inducement. Seeing that not enough came out, she administered the delicate procedure to take out the tennis ball piece by piece from my dog's stomach. Bit by bit, she was able to get them all. She and her team saved me dog. Throughout the process, she and her team kept me updated, and gave me the emotional support that I needed at the time. Dr. Anna Taylor has my upmost respect and eternal gratitude. The staff was also friendly and professional. This is definitely an "A TEAM".

That your pet may not see emergency help or any help when visiting this business.
There are two days a week regular vets are closed and pet owners rely on an emergency vet for emergency services. My dog and I spent 4+ hours waiting to be seen at the Columbia location. They had ONE vet on duty. One. On a weekend when it is our only option. My poor dog has been vomiting and diarrhea and the wait was really hard. We had to keep leaving so he could poop. Finally we ended up having to leave due to having to feed the rest of my pets and being told it could still be several hours yet to go, As a few cats seemed to take priority. They were able to walk straight in and were seen immediately. The vet area was freezing cold and I just couldn't do it anymore. So now I have to take off work tomorrow, lost time, to try to see if my vet can get him in, even though they are currently booked. I'm very worried about the health of my dog as he is not eating in addition to the diarrhea. Horrible. I have been VEG with the same problem before on a weekday. Where they actually have multiple vets working and very few pets there since vet offices are actually open. The fact that they only had one vet is very unprofessional and dangerous to the health of everyone's beloved pets. I will never return and will be sure to share my story with people I know who use them and anyone else who will listen. You just waste your time and your pet will still be sick. I feel so bad for my dog and hate that they couldn't help him feel better. Ridiculous and unnecessary. Staff your business accordingly to meet the needs of pets and pet owners.

Veterinary Emergency Group, not really!
Veterinary Emergency Group ReviewOn a harrowing day, my 15-year-old dog Charlie, who is incredibly gentle and never bites, suffered a traumatic eye injury. After hitting his head on a railing, his eye began to protrude, and he was in obvious pain. I rushed him to the Veterinary Emergency Group in Falls Church, VA, around 3 PM.Stop #1: Veterinary Emergency Group - Falls Church Location (7500 Leesburg Pike, Suite 11, Falls Church, VA 22043)Despite Charlie's severe condition, the staff did not prioritize his injury. After waiting for two hours (8 PM to 10 PM), they referred us to their Georgetown location, a 20-minute drive away, failing to see the urgency of an eye injury.Stop #2: Veterinary Emergency Group - Georgetown Location (2311 M Street NW, Washington, DC 20037)Upon arrival, Charlie and I were placed in a room where vitals were taken, and then we were left unattended for two hours. After raising my concerns, a doctor finally arrived, stating that talking to me was delaying care for my dog. She ordered tests, which I had to prepay before any action was taken. They sedated Charlie only to discover they lacked the equipment for the necessary eye pressure test. I was told other locations had the equipment but were unwilling to share. Hours later, the vet suggested returning on Monday for an eye pressure test, diagnosing "dry eye" instead of addressing the obvious injury. The vet admitted she had not conducted the appropriate tests, yet prescribed painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs without a proper diagnosis. She refused to refund the charges for the unperformed services and showed no empathy or urgency regarding Charlie's severe condition.During our wait, several other patients were attended to, seemingly due to preferential treatment, while Charlie's critical injury was ignored.Stop #3: Friendship Hospital for AnimalsAt 4:15 AM, I arrived at Friendship Hospital for Animals, the only other 24-hour facility available. They immediately took Charlie in and started treatment. Within an hour, I had a diagnosis and treatment plan. Although they couldn't save Charlie's eye due to the delay, they quickly alleviated his pain and suffering, demonstrating genuine care and respect for both him and my time.ConclusionThe Veterinary Emergency Group's handling of Charlie's emergency was unacceptable, reflecting a lack of priority for urgent cases, insufficient equipment, poor communication, and a disregard for patient well-being. I strongly recommend reconsidering this establishment for emergency care. I am exploring legal actions, disputing charges, and sharing this review to prevent others from experiencing similar neglect, any suggestions?
