8 days with Adios Adventures

Adios Adventures made our first post-COVID trip of 8 days to the Cusco area a huge success. Vidal and his family strive to give you the best impression of Peru and enhance your understanding of the culture and history with his vast knowledge and experience. They partner with the family hotel/hostel Blue House and provide a variety of experiences. This is the first family trip where I haven't had to plan logistics. A day trip to Machu Picchu is a marathon 14 hour day navigating the bus and train transfers and still have 3 hours to enjoy the plateau. Vidal did all the thinking for me leaving me the freedom to enjoy it with my family. My favorite excursion was an overnight hike to Waqqrapukara. Traveling with a 9yo with short little legs and 12yo who discovered she had exercise induced asthma at high altitudes was a challenge, but one that we were able to tackle together because Vidal took care of the tents, food and and an extra horse for the little one. Mario, the consumate professional chef who packed a white chef's jacket which he changed into prior to cooking, made two amazing soups which were the 12yo's favorite meal during our whole trip. Vidal was flexible and accommodating reading our energy level and mood well. He is able to pivot easily, such as when we arrived in Chinchero to find all the weavers shut down for the day because of the national elections. Using his vast network of connections (he met someone he knew on the street in every town we went to) he phoned a friend who put together a demonstration with only 45 minutes lead time. Also a shout out to Yorkee who is an amazing driver navigating one lane dirt roads on the side of steep mountains effortlessly. Please engage him in a game of "slug bug" as there are plenty of VW Bugs to be seen during road trips.

We've had amazing life experiences with Adios Adventure Travel

We've had amazing life experiences and created so many memories through our many travels with Adios Adventure Travel over the years! I cannot imagine traveling with anyone else than Adios! We truly got an authentic more private tour of everything on every trip taken. We've been to Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador with Adios. All of the guides are warm, friendly, eager to educate you on the culture. We have created life long friendships through our travels with Adios. Every detail is masterfully handled with locals that are in the know. Imagine going to Machu Picchu and feeling like you're the only ones there! Every setting was small and intimate. You definitely won't be following one guide carrying a flag....Adios is also very conscientious of the cultures and environments. They are truly passionate about what they do and continuously give back to the communities by taking youth groups down for volunteer work and much needed donations. With Adios you are treading lightly and leaving these incredible places just as you found them.

My daughter and I did a wonderful trip…

My daughter and I did a wonderful trip to Peru with Adios Adventure. Jacqui organized a service project for us to participate in and we hiked the Inca trail to Macchu Pichu. It was beyond amazing and gratifying. I felt we truly connected with the community. The trip was well organized and we were well prepared for what to expect. I hope to be able to do another trip with Adios Adventure some day.

I was 77 years of age when I took this…

I was 77 years of age when I took this trip. It was so nice to be met at the airport, escorted to the hotel and the guide was always close at hand all the way through the trip. When I got up in the morning to get my breakfast, which was included in the price of the trip, he was there. Peru is a lovely country and the people are so friendly. Adios Adventure do everything, they book the trip, get your permits and the travel arrangements, everything is taken care of. It was a trip of a life time.

Adios Adventure Travel was outstanding.

Adios Adventure Travel provided us with a fantastic experience from beginning to end. They communicated with us in a timely way, and our trip to Cusco/Machu Picchu was very well organized. Our guide on the hike to Machu Picchu (Hubert Jaquehua) could not have been nicer, more attentive, or more culturally aware. The experience was unforgettable.

I have taken two trips with Adios…

I have taken two trips with Adios Travel - Bolivia and Peru. Both were wonderful. Personally, I value the opportunity to see, meet, engage with the indigenous cultures. Bolivia was fantastic - we were all over the country, from the salt flats to sucre to Sun Island on Titicaca and much more in between. I will never forget meeting the reed boat maker who built boats for Thor Heyerdahl, as well as the many ancient ruins throughout the country. Warnings about elevation were well heeded - took Diamox as recommended, no problem. Peru was magnificent. Cusco and the drive thru the sacred valley on the way to Machu Picchu. We visited many ruins in addition to Machu Picchu, had plenty of time at each. Awesome. Each trip was very well organized. Our guides were excellent - attentive and courteous. The tours were well planned. I have to mention Lima and the food in Mira Flores. We ate the meal of a lifetime there. The friends I traveled with still talk about it, at IK's.

Best in South America

I've used a number of tour companies in South America, and Adios was by far the best. Very friendly, very attentive and very knowledgeable. I went with Adios on the the Inca Trail and it was an unforgettable experience. I'd highly recommend them.

Only company worth traveling with — Adios Adventure

I have traveled with Adios Adventure Travel four times — Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, and Peru twice — and I can honestly say that each trip exceeded by expectations EVERY time. Adios has truly sparked my love for travel, especially adventure travel! Experiences with Adios Adventure Travel that I would like to share with you are the following: Hiking the Inca Trail for four days. A mentally and physically exhausting task, but the end result of witnessing Machu Picchu was WELL worth it. I felt on top of the world — maybe because I was at an altitude of 7,972 feet!! I cannot wait to hike the trail again (maybe even a couple more times). In the Galapagos Islands — Kicker Rock to be exact — I had the chance to swim with sea lions, turtles, and even saw sharks swimming deep down below. Talk about exhilarating! My most cherished moments from traveling with Adios Adventure Travel are the experiences gained from donating my time to work with the locals in the village of Callipata, Peru. Along with my friends, co-founder of Adios herself, Jacquie Whitt, and the locals, we got our hands dirty building livestock shelters and helping rebuild houses. These are moments that will stick with me forever. I have made long lasting relationships with strangers turned very close friends. I see many more trips with Adios in my future and I can hardly wait!

Peruvian adventure

Jacquie and Adios are amazing. She was able to answer all of my questions and save me lots of money on my up and coming Peru trip. The advise she gave me is going to save me so much time that I’m now able to see the sand dunes, lake titicaca, Lima, Cusco and most importantly Machu Picchu. Thank you so much for all your help!!
