The Alta Language service is user friendly and works without fail. We have used this service for many years to schedule and communicate procedures to patients and the experience has been stellar.
I'm just surprised by how often the information on the monthly report I receive is incorrect. They offer language services and often times names are misspelled, completely undocumented, etc. It makes me question the integrity and quality of the service.
We have booked 2 meetings for interpretation weeks in advance. They were both no calls no show. The interpreter/company totally ghosted us.

ALTA is a great company to work with. They have superb customer service, are very responsive and make the language assessments extraordinarily easy from the employee set-up through to invoicing. The fees are very reasonable as well. I highly recommend.
This was the polar opposite of our first experience that was outstanding. This interpreter was not up to the task. It was, admittedly, an extremely difficult situation. Not sure if it was only our own auditory equipment to blame for extremely low volume. Itay have been her system and her very thin high pitch voice. It would be bettervto match a low male voice that is liud to a potentially hard of hearing aged client. Our situation turned unexpectedly chaotic. Even before that happened and things were still quiet, our Japanese speaker could not hear her. Fir us it was crucial that the interpreter get our documents ahead of time. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough lead time to get an interpreter that could receive the documents. We didn't learn unt the mirning of, when it was too late to change that this interpreter would not receive the documents. This it was a complete waste of money and frustrating for us and the interpreter. She slammed the phone down. There was nothing we could have fone to anticipate the mess she was confronted with. It was equally challenging for us. Her ending her involvement with pique added to the stress of our overall situation. We feel bad for her to have been in a no win situation but we were paying gor her patience and she let us know with a bang she is a prima donna.
The team was nice and worked hard to consider my input to change the translator. We ultimately landed with Nora who did the job. Unfortunately the translation is not comparable to similar services I have hired. The shadowing could have been better in translating in real time. The team needs to consider cultural context of the settings and inform the translators so they can prepare in andvance, not just advanced english skills. Further voice moderation, less conversation and the ability to handle a large group in a party were needed. I have a sense that the translator struggled with the different accents in the room but I do know that she did the best job that she could. Some of the best things she did is be on time, be presentable and ask questions to prep accordingly. I encourage ALTA services to take more projects like this to further grow their translators.
