Erie Home Construction - Albuquerque, NM
Update (10/25/2023): Because David from Erie (Albuquerque office) reached out to us today, in effort to understand and address concerns mentioned in original review, we are changing the star rating from 3.5 to 4. We appreciate his proactive efforts. Thank you.Original posted 10/24/2023: Erie Home Construction appears to be a prime contractor, subcontracting materials and labor. We chose Erie because the material met our goals and because Erie would coordinate and oversee installations. Erie employed a local roofing subcontractor with exceptional leadership and exceptional crew members! Because we chose a rather unique and unfamiliar profile Erie Home had a metal specialist (Daniel) train the crew; and, we are very grateful that Daniel made himself available to help us better understand the workings and care of the roofing systems. Two areas of significant concern: First, although local managers responded quickly when we reached out to them about concerns, the fact that we had to be the ones to initiate communications to find out the schedule, to clarify expectations, and to identify who to contact to resolve concerns during the onsite work, is rather concerning. Of lesser note, we repeatedly asked for photos of the work, which were promised and which we have yet to receive. Secondly, and of great significance, there was no oversight of gutter and gutter-guard installation, and no one present/available to answer our questions and concerns, or to correct the work if needed. Were the workers of the gutter subcontractor even aware of how to honor the unique roofing profile? We expected Erie, as prime contractor, to oversee and assure that installation was correctly done; however, at one point, the local manager instructed us to address the issues directly with the gutter workers (workers typically are focused on accomplishing the work as fast as possible, and rightfully take instruction only from their authorized leaders). We felt forced into a role Erie should have performed; this experience was quite disappointing and stressful; and even now, we are unsure that the gutters and gutter guards were installed correctly given the unique profile of the roofing system. Would we refer others to Erie? Yes, but with some significant cautions.

Terrible customer service and won't fix…
Terrible customer service and won't fix any problems that they caused! 6 months after they installed our $30000 roof we started getting bats in our attic (they weren't there before the new roof)! I called to correct whatever the issue was and after sending a guy out to inspect he stated it was an installation error! Well long story short they installed but the tech stated that wasn't there problem! Now after spending more to correct the issue the bats are now getting in the other side of the house through that ridge vent!! Terrible company would not recommend them to anyone!

Very professional, trustworthy, and reliable
I responded to a promotion about a discount for allowing a sign in front of our house. I got an immediate response and had an appointment the next day. I was expecting the usual big company, hard sell and miscommunication the whole way through, but that’s not what happened. I was given the initial price of what it cost. Then they gave me their discount price, which was in the ballpark, a little high of a previous estimate making it a fair quote. The distinct quality and improvements of their materials and guaranty convinced me to accept their price. As expected, there were some miscommunications internally with things, particularly about the timeframe and advanced notice I needed about when the work would begin as I had to rip the old chimney out to get a clean re-work of the roof. Also quite impressive that they were getting a crew out to work on it a week later (and 1 days notice).Erie had a professional review the ventilation on the roof and determined, as I agreed with, several changes needed to be made. They allowed me to add internal insulation and they were to rip out the excessive can-vents on the roof and change it to a ridge-vent to better handle the Michigan winters.I had to post-pone their install date to get my work done but there were no hassles with that. I was able to get my side done and their crew showed up exactly on time. Surprisingly, not one of them spoke good English. They got right to work, ripped the roof out, and then with more internal communication, re-installed all the can-vents that were supposed to be removed! Someone had ordered all replacement vents AND the ridge vents and everything was being put back on! I still had the phone number of the professional reviewer and gave him a call, calmy explained what was happening and he gave it a review and said he had to make some calls. The crew was sent home for the day. I was so worried because the job was almost done, and so screwed up! I have been through contractors before and I knew what I was expected because of past fiascos. But Erie was not those contractors. The next 3 days were freezing rain, high winds, and 20F weather so they did not come back until it was clear. On the 4th day, with the weather cleared, the crew came back again, right on starting time. I didn’t go outside to look because I was so worried, but they finished the job quickly. When I went out to look, all the mistakes had been removed, repaired, and the roof was put back together marvelously.Just 1 call was all it took to get everything straightened out and done right.

Positive Review for Erie Construction, Beltsville, MD
Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueThe roofers arrived early to begin work and actually would have been able to complete the whole roof replacement had it not begun to rain. However, the next day, the roof was completed quickly. We are so pleased with the quality of the materials and the experience and knowledge of the crew. The job entailed removing two levels of shingles before laying materials and re-roofing. Clean-up was so thorough that there was no sign anyone had been there---except for a beautiful new roof. I highly recommend Erie Construction for roofing jobs.
