Toxic and dangerous shoes: avoid
I bought these for a five day bike packing trip in the French Pyrenees. One day 2 I noticed a strange 'chemical' smell coming from the shoes. Into day 3 this smell got worse, with whatever was causing the smell (I suspect glue from the shoe sole) leeching into my socks and skin. I started to sweat out the toxins as I cycled. I decided this wasn't good, and the smell was so bad I was feeling sick. I decided to head into the nearest town and bought some regular trainers. I decided to dump the Five Tens as I could not bear the smell and knew that I could not escape the toxic smell even if I wrapped the shoes and put them into my bike pack; it was so bad. Once the shoes were gone, the smell reduced but didn't go completely for three days as I was still sweating the toxins out of my body. Clearly the Five Ten shoes were a health hazard and I suspect carcinogenic.When I got home I contacted Wiggle to let them know. But they didn't want to know. Even though I've been a loyal customer and have spent thousand of pounds with Wiggle over the years they refused to consider my complaint and warning about Five Ten because I was not able to return the shoes. I contacted Five Ten and Adidas (who own Five Ten) to let them know about this toxic and dangerous product they were selling. They didn't reply. So, 6 months later I feel I can only let others know, and warn them off Five Ten products, by leaving product a review.
