Unprofessional

Got an online price and found it acceptable. Arranged an appointment then travelled all the to Perth the next day. Arrived 30 mins early but then they didn't have my details. I showed him the email I received with the booking slot and price etc.He went out to view the car and came back in 3 minutes later saying it was in excellent condition but two alloys were scuffed then gave a price £2000 below the original quote. Needless to say I walked out. Avoid the place. Never again for me.

Oh dear… where do I begin. One big con.

Oh dear… where do I begin.I booked my car in, a very clean 66 plate Audi with 39k miles. MOT due mid-November 23 and only 6k miles done since the last one. FSH with timing belt and water pump done in November 2022. Got a great offer of £14,455. The best around, if I’m honest! I’ve sold a car here previously and the offer was honoured, so I was keen to get the ball rolling.Washed the car and got everything ready, drove 1.5 hours to my appointment. Got there and was told that they’re not buying cars at the moment as they’re over stocked. I was stunned, my appointment has been booked all week. I got an appointment reminder just yesterday… confused! With my confused expression, the manager then went on to ask me what I had to sell, to see if it was something they would be interested in. A glimmer of hope. Ahh, alas, he came back over, it was not to be, evidently not of interest. I was totally confused, and understandably annoyed… could no one have called?? I went to the carpark and called head office, explained the situation. I was told that the appointment should be honoured and that I’d be contacted by the main man of Goodbye Car on Monday. I then advised the manager of the branch that this was the case, and that I’d been told it should have been honoured. I said I was now going to have to drive all the way back. He instantly changed he tune, told me to sit in the waiting area, he’d get a salesperson to help value it. He went over to said salesperson and spoke with him for far too long to just be a “please value this car”. Whilst sitting awaiting the complete low-balling of my valuation (same result you see, if it’s low I won’t go for it) the salesperson came over, lovely chap if I’m honest. We went outside, and he did a general wander around, drove it round the carpark (low fuel, let’s be honest, no one is putting fuel in if they’re leaving it there are they), didn’t measure tyres with the tyre tread depth indicator, thought that was odd. Went back in, no questions on service history (it has FSH) or any of the major things you’d expect to be done (they have been). Thought that was odd too. I had a missed call from the main guy at Goodbye Car, and an email stating that they wanted to buy my car and to call him back. I showed this to the lovely chap, and he confirmed main guys name from the email before going over to the manager. He was gone for a while. Then came back with the manager (you know it’s bad news at this point). But let me tell you why I had to peel myself off the floor… they offered me over £4000 LESS, due to an MOT being due in November. AN MOT. From £14,455 to £10k and change. The inspection report lovely chap did marked down kerbed alloys - that is all. The car is a 66 plate white Audi S-Line with 39k miles on the clock. Mint bodywork. 2x brand new tyres last week. It’s absolute prime stock for the forecourt. I was told that it was considered “TRADE”, “AUCTION” due to MOT being due in November. They told me to come back once it’s MOT’d and they’d “ramp it” (inspect it on the ramp.. after a legal MOT has already done that…) After 6 years buying and selling cars for a different big car retailer (yes I’ll toot my own horn), I have never heard such non-sense. Never. The manager said he would call the main guy for Goodbye Car on Monday, to confirm all this. I said I’d missed his call anyway, and he said on email to phone him back. So I said I’d do it there and there. Oh and low and behold, main guy was singing off the same hymn sheet. Coincidence? I think not - explains the long wait! ☺️ A complete waste of my time and energy…. Avoid if you don’t want to be utterly offended. Don’t waste your time to be sent away or low-balled. My valuation wasn’t just low, it was offensive.

Wouldn't buy based on age and mileage but made me drive to appt to tell me that in person.

Quickly generated an offer via the website and arranged an appointment at Aberdeen Peter Vardy.Attended appointment but first they couldn't find my details - separate Peter Vardy & Goodbye Car systems apparently. Then they inspected the car before returning to tell me they weren't buying cars as old as mine with a high mileage (12yr & 88k). Why allow me to book an appointment and waste my timing driving to it in that case? They already knew the age and mileage beforehand. Total waste of time, don't bother if you have an older car.

Great experience

Great experience - Emma at Seafield was excellent she explained everything and was easy to deal with she made everything go very smoothly. I was also very happy with the offer made for my car. Other staff very nice too, we arrived early for our appointment and was offered a refreshment, everyone was very pleasant.

Absolutely disgusting service by Management. Got my online quote that was guaranteed for 7 days. Went in and they had none of my details. Then to tell me that management wasn't really interested in my vehicle so they gave me an offer £700.00 less than my quote after making me wait almost 45minutes. I will never use or recommend this company.

Far too slow to transfer money

The price I was quoted online was pretty much what I got for my car. I was very pleased with this because it was £500 more than the dealer was giving and much more than other comparable buyers. All good at the branch. However all of this was forgotten when head office took so long to transfer the money to my account. Dropped my car off Friday pm and money didn’t reach my account till the following Wednesday. Completely unacceptable

So bad overall

Bad customer service. Looked at my car for mere 2 minutes and complained about it so badly. PS: My car just had a service, new clutch and new gearbox

Attended Hillington at weekend at first…

Attended Hillington at weekend at first hand it all went well and agreed price for car then was told there was an incorrect mileage data against car through HPI.was told due to this being wrong and having service stamps and MOT's as prove this was an error and would be sorted after the bank holiday weekend email was sent from David Adam with agreed price for car.phoned today and was told this would take 2 weeks to sort was not happy and asked about complaints process was told this was not goidbuycar or myself fault and the MPI was to blame Adam had said goodbuycar was in dispute with MPI.contactedMPI direct which took about 10 min after David telling me there was only an email address to complain to which was incorrect they have a contact number MPI confirmed if Goodbuycar contacted them direct they would resolve in 24 hours this has been handled unprofessional buy both goidbuycar and MPI which has left me in the position of being unable to sell my car due to someone else inputting wrong data and both parties saying they have no responsibility to make matters worse David is not answering phone calls or emails have also contacted goodbuycar customer service and no reply there.homestly thought with this being part of the Vardy group it would be a good service and not like the stories you here about buyacar.com.8 th March 9days later goodbuycar have still not bought car David Adam keeps moving the goal post 15th May over 17days later car sold and funds paid .don't recommend this company both goodbuycar ,& Peter Vardy should have a long lookat how there staff manage there customers Perter Vardy goodbuycar Hillington branch is a joke

Sold my car nearly a month ago, after sales service needs looked at!

Sold my car a month ago, I was happy with their offer and although it took a week for the funds to arrive in my account, it was just an error they made with my bank details.I still haven't received my sale documents though, V5 etc and my hotel voucher which they offer if you sell with them. I have emailed, no response and called, but was cut off, having been on hold for about 10 minutes, didn't get a call back!! Not sure why they offer this voucher if they don't really want to give it to you, shouldn't have to beg for it!

Five stars for me

Five stars for me, obtained a quote the previous day, attended the Motherwell branch the following day, spoke with Alan Weir who offered me the full money quoted for my car. Very slick and courtesy procedure and I received my money within one day.If you value your vehicle at a realistic price I don’t see any reason for not receiving the full price quoted.

First class service throughout, with great price

First class throughout, went online Wednesday for quote, very easy process, received price, very happy, checked around and no other site gave price GoodBye Car was given me.Saturday made appointment for 12:30, attended, and had sold car in 15 minutes, very quick and pleasant service, Money in my bank by Monday Evening, and icing on the cake, no fees taken, not like other sites who were charging fees.Would definitely recommend GoodBye Car if selling your vehicle.

Five Stars All Round!

Sold my car 3 days ago at the Peter Vardy Aberdeen Branch. Dealt with Owen. Process couldn't have been simpler and Owen was great to deal with - fair, comprehensive & a nice guy to deal with. Got a very reasonable price for the car and they didn't try to 'pick holes' with the original estimate given, when they saw the car which I thought, although fair, was very good. Payment received into the bank today, just 3 days later.I have no hesitation in recommending selling a car to Goodbye Car & would happily recommend Owen as the person to see.

When we sold our car

When we sold our car, we settled on a price with the understanding that if we brought in the parcel shelf, we would receive an additional 150 GBP on the overall price. We had to fight for three weeks to get the dealership to honor their offer after we brought in the shelf the next day.
