Buy anywhere but here if you are smart
When I was a young girl, my father was part owner of The Augusta Daily Gazette. Parks Motors was owned by Fanny Parks and her husband. Mostly Fanny. Back then, in the fifties, Parks was a good place to buy a car. Dad would often buy our family car from them. I contacted them a day or two ago and had a keen interest in a vehicle they had for sale and wanted more information. But before going on, I inquired as to what the DOC fee was. Now to those who don't know what a DOC fee is, it is just a padding for the dealer. Supposedly it is for "administration" but the most that dealers around here charge is $299 and many charge nothing. I think, but am not sure, that Kansas has a cap on what a dealer will charge. I plan to call them next week. The DOC fee Parks quoted me was over $800.00! And we are talking about a 17 year old car and in reality, that's about all the car is truly worth.Prior to this incident, less than a year ago I contacted them about another car. The saleswoman was only interested in digging out of me if I would be financing the car. She asked no questions about "my" needs or even what car I was interested in.As far as I am concerned, Parks Motor Company in Augusta, Kansas and their other locations should be avoided. They do not care about the customer. They only car about digging deeply into your pocket and getting everything out of it. Fanny Parks would fire all of them if she were still alive.
