DO NOT STAY HERE. I really wish I had read the reviews before booking. Place riddled with bed bugs, dirty bathrooms, everything really old and broken and unhelpful staff that said I had to complain via email and they wouldn’t give me a refund.
I stayed at The Princess Amsterdam hostel on 03/08/24 and I got bitten alive by bed bugs. I was in a lot of pain and I felt very uncomfortable. This hostel has a history of bed bugs and they don't seem to deal with the issue and continue business as normal. I have contacted management three times by email and twice by phone and I didn't get a response at all for an apology or a reply regarding getting a refund. The management at this hostel doesn't care about their guests. My trip was ruined as my friend wouldn't allow me to stay at her house afterwards and I paid 200 Euros to fumigate my suitcase, staying in Amsterdam while I was trying to deal with the issue, and, buying medication for my skin because I felt like I was on fire because the bites were so sore. My advise is to stay away and pay extra money at another hostel to have a positive experience.
We had to "evacuate from our room for hours due to "maintenance". the "kitchen" concist of a micro. Run down crackhole, dirty, unhygienic, and TERRIBLE. Do not stay here for the love of god! All the negative reviews are true. Nothing remotely good about this place.
This hostel is absolutely disgusting. The hostel heating system had been broken for 5 days out of the 7 days I stayed.I was shivering with cold in bed every night and after 3 days of having to sleep in conditions as cold as the hostel room 105 I became ill after days and now home in the U.K with a chest infection and heavy cold and headaches none stop.NO WAY SHOULD THIS HOSTEL HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO OPEN AND LET PEOPLE STAY KNOWING THERE WAS NO HEATING IN THE ENTIRE HOSTEL. I actually went and sat in the hallway down downstairs at times because it was a little bit warmer than my room. Wind was blowing through the side of the window frames on to me whilst I was in bed. Absolutely disgusting this was allowed, unbelievable. Then when I was sick in bed the cleaner demanded I get out of bed so he could fix the bed sheets on the top bunk. I told him to give me 5 minutes and he said no. At this point I was highly frustrated and told him " no, I am not getting out of bed I am too ill". The worst thing is I had planned this trip since last year for ADE in Amsterdam and meet up with friends from New York I haven't seen in many years and friends from the south of England also was there staying in another hostel. There was no Wi Fi for 4/5 days and I couldn't not get a good signal and missed 4 of the 7 events I had gone to Amsterdam to see at ADE and my friends could not contact me as I could never get signal and no wi fi. The manner and conditions we had to encounter is no way legal and I will be taking this matter further and reporting it to news papers in Amsterdam to warn future travelers. I have contacted the hostel 3 times about this but all contact has been ignored. The staffwas shockingly rude also apart from 1 member of staff, some guy at reception was friendly, everyone else was Dan right rude.The bins also had not been emptied for days. There was even water on the floor leaking from somewhere.What a disgusting and horrible experience I had at the Princess Hostel in Amsterdam. You completely ruined my trip and in the process I became ill because of the conditions.Totally ruined the whole trip. I now also cant go into work due to my chest infection meaning I am even more at loss financially. I would of left on the 1st day if I had more money. The Hostel needs reporting to the health and safety and environmental health and to shut down until it has completely cleaned up and fixed the whole mess that it is operating in.Martin H Liverpool- England
Fraudulent photos. The place is a crack den. No space to open bags. Narrow hall ways. Showers stink of urine. Garbage bags left in hallway for the whole week I was there. Can’t even use the tiny little kitchen because they pile the dirty laundry up there.One of the receptionists was a total b!tch to me and all my mates on individual occasions. Just asking a polite question and she went out of her way to be rude.The cleaners do the bare minimum and don’t even empty the bins. Our 6 bedroom dorm stunk and there was no room to open bags.The beds in our 2 bedroom dorm were terribly uncomfortable. Two slices of foam that just depressed when you sat on them meaning your neck was cranked on the oversized pillows. The bunk beds in the 6 bedroom crack hole dorm were easier to sleep on.Plus the doors were all broken so you were woken non-stop by people in hallway.Do not go here.They won’t even entertain a refund either. Absolute hole.
SO DIRTY! Not fit for human stay. Toilets and shower are filthy and obviously not cleaned by staff. Please be ware that you will have MICE and RATS. After a night we found our bags nibbled through and breakfast eaten. SO UNHYGIENIC. In our room there was mouldy ceiling and wall too, not heathy to breath in. Not worth the price you pay. Do not understand how they are still in business. Please don’t stay here. Other hostel are definitely a better option.
This place is very very very dirty. Once i saw the room i left. I asked for a refund but they refused.I complained about this and management took a very long time to reply.Once they replied they did not answer my question at all. Instead they just said that they comply with Dutch law. Avoid them, the hygiene levels are non existant. Management dont care.
