Best Book Printers in the UK

Hello Jessica, Sharon & BrettWell what can I say - but a massive thank you for the tremendous job you have done in organising and printing the two Mini Moke books that we are now in receipt of.It's been a pleasure working with SRP in the printing of Singapore - London and Moke: The Early Years.I have enjoyed the personal phone calls from Sharon checking progress and the finer details, the help from Brett on a few technical issues with the files and Jessica on the shipping arrangements. It has been a very pleasant experience working with you all. The book printing, binding and paper quality is excellent. The packaging of the books was absolutely first class, manageable strong boxes and shrink wrapped to a sturdy pallet - excellent.Mark - You have a very strong and coconscious team, and I wish you and your company great success in the future, and hope we have the opportunity to work together again soon. Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved in our book printing. All the bestRoyRoy Scott, Editor Mini Moke Club

Continuing great service

I have already done a review of this excellent company but have just ordered more printed copies of a book and am just as delighted this time as I have been in the past. Highly recommended.

Not a good company

Not a good company. Have let me down with their attitude, timings and quality. I was happy with my first experience of Short Run, so ordered more and have since been very disappointed. Management are very rude and quality is poor. I wouldn’t recommend. Last order I paid for pages to be printed on 170gsm but the product I received was much flimsier and printing was very poor. Judging by the other reviews here I realise there’s no point in approaching them directly, hence this review.

Appalling - Mistakes in Print then intimidating approach to resolution

My overall feeling is that you should avoid this company at all costs. Chaotic management, retracted quotes, they put the wrong cover on my book then started trying to intimidate me and to hide behind non-existent small print rather than put the situation right. This would have been so easy to resolve, but after a bullying phone call from a manager (Mark), refusing to accept any responsibility for their mistakes, and making me feel like a bad customer for not instantly paying them (despite no invoice being sent) and errors in the production, it looks as if we are in for a fight.Main issues are that they sent us a copy of my book to proof, and we spotted typos on the cover and sent them a revised cover. They failed to incorporate this into the print run, thereby giving us an inferior product. We did not spot this until customers started telling us a couple of weeks after the book went on sale. Short Run Press then tried to say that we had approved the draft, but when I sent evidence that this was incorrect, they tied to say we only had seven days to reject the book due to terms and conditions (which were only available on a web site that I have never once visited). No terms and conditions were with the quote or the order confirmation. This is appalling of itself. Smaller issues are that they refused to honour the first quote that they provided (demanding extra money for run-on copies above that quoted), and only issued a back-dated invoice nearly three months after the run. They claim that emails were sent (but I can assure you were not received) and on checking some of their supposedly sent emails appear to have been just passed around their own office. Total chaos. This is a pretty shoddy service from a British company. In my opinion, if you make a mistake, you sort it, end of story.I have tried several suggestions (return unsold copies, part payment etc) everything is being rejected by this company who just want their money and refuse to negotiate.

Exceptionally poor service and…

Exceptionally poor service and attitude. They cut every corner possible, using super-economy couriers for time-sensitive deliveries. Then, they just produce a stream of avoidance and excuses instead of taking responsibility and putting right the wrongs. Also, a significant proportion of products were damaged and needed attention. In particular, the boss just avoids the point whilst sending empty 'sorry to hear you're not happy' platitudes. As an illustration, they were so stubborn that they'd rather pulp hundreds of products rather than offer an apology and compensate for losses. An issue with the product is still un-replied to.More concerning - despite multiple emails to ask them not to, they sent a staff member to one of our places of work. They simply would not listen. Unsurprisingly, nothing was achieved from the forced visit and we had to ask facility staff to deny them access to products.Avoid. There's better.
