I have flown to 14 different countries…

I have flown to 14 different countries and cannot express enough how horrible my recent experience with spirit has been. I had never traveled with Spirit before this week, but recently decided to give it a try. I had 5 different flights with them in a span of one week. In all but 1 my personal item was accepted. With other airlines I have never had an issue and I am very mindful of following regulations. However, with Spirit, both my sister and I were charged an additional $100 at the gate for our bags because they “would not fit because the flight was full.”I often travel on a budget, and did not have that amount on the card I brought. I was told to have a family member lend me money or miss my flight. I had to ask my husband to send me a picture of one of our other cards and heard another girl distressed not having the funds. Once boarded there was a total of 10 people on the flight. Still confused how our bags “would not fit.” All my other flights were packed and everything worked perfectly. I WILL NEVER FLY WITH SPIRIT AGAIN!

Spirit does anything to steal your money

I have done thousands of flights with various airlines, Spirit is by far the worst one. The staff at the gate said that we needed a ticket out of Guatemala to be able to board the flight to Guatemala. Our plan was to continue to El Salvador by car with friends. They didn´t let us board the flight without buying a ticket out of the country. And the staff member said we could buy any flight out of the country from Spirit and promised we would get a full refund as long as we canceled the flight tickets within 24 hours. When canceling the tickets and realising we wouldn´t get the money back, we contacted Spirit customer support. It was like talking to a chatbot (even if it was a human). After a long conversation he said he transfer our case to the special team, and that they should get back to us within the timeframe (24 hours after buying the tickets). Of course they didn´t, and when they finally did days later that person was also just referring to the terms and conditions.Thank you for Spirit Airlines for stealing nearly 400 usd from us!

This is my 4th straight flight within…

This is my 4th straight flight within the last 4 months that have been predictably and consistently canceled, delayed or even rescheduled without any acceptable reason. I always have to fly through FLL and have to go to Immagration. All past 4 flights with connection to Tampa have all been missed due to Spirit Airline.. This airline execute the bate and switch superbly.. The cheap bare fare prices are not worth the headache and stress customers have to pay for. Pay the extra money for extra peace from other airlines. Airlines with staff who actually show to work and keep flights on time, wierd huh. Avoid at all cost.

3rd time on hold for over 3 hours - no agent help

On hold for 3 hours and 15 minutes and no agent has picked up! Unfortunately I booked tickets on Spirit and was charged incorrectly, and 3 attempts to contact customer service have been unsuccessful. I am presently on hold for 3 hour and 15 minutes to get an agent and no one picks up. Also been on hold with chat for an agent now at 2 hours and 30 minutes. This is the third time trying to reach Spirit, first time I hung up after 2 hours on hold. This is criminal.

Terrible airline

Terrible airline. They have absolutely no respect for people’s time. We were stuck sitting on the plane waiting for another flight to land so they could move passengers over to ours — like we’re at a bus stop or something. Completely unprofessional and disorganized.Do yourself a favor and avoid this airline at all costs. Pay the extra $150 and save yourself the headache. This airline is beyond unreliable. If I could, I’d give it negative a billion stars. Absolutely ridiculous.

Unreliable Airline That Ruined My Trip

I’m honestly furious after flying with Spirit Airlines.Rude staff, careless gate agents, constant delays — and zero reliability. There is absolutely no guarantee you’ll arrive on time, and if you have a connection, be ready to miss it and deal with the stress alone. They lure you in with cheap flights and “perfect” schedules online, but after you buy the ticket, everything changes: delays, cancellations, schedule changes. Then you’re stuck paying extra at the last minute just to fix the mess they created.Completely irresponsible airline that wastes your time, money, and energy. If your plans matter at all, avoid them.

Worst airline ever! Do not fly with them!

Worst airline ever. Cancelled our flight due to bad weather, which is understandable. However, we got no help from them after our flight going home to Atlantic City was cancelled. We had to book another flight with another airline and to a different airport. Shame, no wonder they filed for bankruptcy cause they lack integrity, accountability, and compassion.

I am extremely disappointed with spirit airlines

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience flying with Spirit Airlines on flight NK-108 (and the returning leg). Both my flight from Chicago (ORD) to Newark (EWR) and my return from Newark to Chicago were delayed by more than 4 hours.

Multiple delayed flights, Canceled connecting Flight, No available customer support for 4 hours

Flight 1311 was delayed four to five times, finally departing just before midnight, despite multiple notifications that were inconsistent and delayed. No guidance, accommodations, or support were offered during this period. A $30 voucher for this disruption was issued only at 4:20 a.m., hours after the flight landed at FLL, which is unacceptable and ineffective. At 1:40 a.m., I was notified that Flight 2184 was canceled. I immediately attempted to contact customer service via phone, chat, and WhatsApp, but I was placed on hold for nearly three hours, repeatedly disconnected, and unable to reach a live agent. During this time, I had no way to confirm travel, rebook, or retrieve my baggage. At 2:54 a.m., I received a rebooking notice with no departure or arrival times, and the online chat link provided to seek assistance did not work. When I attempted to resolve the issue in person at the airport, I was met with dismissive and unhelpful staff. I was repeatedly redirected to empty desks, given vague instructions, and told to wait for assistance that never came. Even at the full-service desk, the representative admitted she could not locate my luggage, could not process a refund, and directed me back downstairs with no viable support. Hours of trying to navigate phone, chat, and in-person assistance yielded nothing. The total lack of timely, effective customer service forced me to navigate this situation entirely on my own, caused extreme stress and disruption, and prevented me from exploring other travel options. The repeated delays, flight cancellation, poor communication, and unresponsive staff are completely unacceptable.

42 hrs for a 4-hour flight

42 hours to complete a 4-hour flight....enough said. 1st connecting flight cancelled after 8-hours of delays, stuck in foreign country. Next day, no airplane, another plane arrives, leaves late, missed next Spirit connecting flight because that pilot wanted to leave the gate early (and then sit on the tarmac for over 30 minutes), to be booked by Spirit on Southwest leaving 5 hours later, that Southwest delayed for another 4 hours. No weather issues anywhere ...

Absolutely WORST airline ever

Absolutely WORST airline ever. Do not book this airline even if it for free. They waste your time by cancelling and delaying the flights again and again. Time is more important than money.

BUYER BEWARE!

WORST airline experience ever: Flight scheduled for 4pm. At 3pm , they just mentioned that there are mechanical issues with the plane and we won't take off until 9 pm. They refuse to give hotel vouchers unless and until they cancel--which could be as late as 12 am. They give a $10 "food" voucher (a cup of chips was $5.75). They made us wait; then, around 630 pm. send an email saying it's canceled. They didn't announce anything to anyone. I got the hotel and another generous voucher for $10 meal. They "rebook" me on a flight that says leaving from MIA to Detroit and then to LGA. No arrival time listed. What was it? Leaving at 7 am from Miami, and arriving at LGA at 7 am the NEXT day. They had nothing else to offer. I had to pay $240 for a new flight with a legitimate airline to get home the next day. Biggest negative review. Was told by two other travelers that Spirit doesn't take care of its fleet. Another few guys were also being cancelled on another flight for the same reason

Worst Flying Experience of My Life

My flight with Spirit was delayed causing a missed connection, which left me stranded in Orlando for 20 hours. I'm leaving this review not that the flight itself was bad, it was standard, but that Spirit offered no apology and assistance from their delay. You would expect a hotel, accommodation voucher or at the very least a food voucher but Spirit simply didn't care. Their wording was "we got you were we were meant to take you".Yes you did, but you did so late so I missed a flight and had to get another one. It's the way this was handled that upset me and massively impacted my journey home to the UK. A decent airline would understand their impact and support in some way. I'll never fly Spirit again.

I made a reservation with Spirit

I made a reservation with Spirit, but I didn't receive any confirmation code or email. I was worried, so I started calling, but no one ever answered. I contacted the website, but I only got an automated voice with artificial intelligence. Only today did I receive the code, and I was finally able to request a cancellation, but they told me I was outside the 24-hour window. However, I'm outside the 24-hour window because of them, because they didn't respond. In my opinion, they do this on purpose to avoid giving the money back. I'm asking for help from a consumer protection association and the United States authorities to get my ticket money back. Reservation code is MGHI4Y #spirit @spirit

You Get What You Pay For

Spirit Airlines is very much a “you get what you pay for” experience. The ticket was cheap and the flight got me from point A to point B safely and on time, which is the most important part. Boarding was fairly smooth and the staff were okay — not overly friendly, but not rude either. That said, all the extra fees really add up. Paying separately for carry-on bags, seat selection, and even basic comfort makes the final price feel less like a bargain. The seats are also quite cramped, so it’s not ideal for longer flights.Overall, Spirit is fine if you’re on a tight budget and know exactly what you’re signing up for. Just don’t expect comfort or extras, and be prepared for the additional charges.

The worst customer service on the…on the plant better service in hell

The worst customer service on the planet. There customer would be bad if you were in hell.they don't send any confirmation of your flight information like real airlines the service and small crappy planes just aren't worth the 50 dollars you save flying a real airlines like United or American and even Delta . The service is so bad they make ICE look like the four seasons It not worth if you have problems you want to throw yourself in traffic after a min 45 wait up to 2 hours on hold then that personYou need talk to supervisor they are got to tell you same thing never heard of customer Not allowing you to even discuss the issue they so freaking fee hungry

Missing suitcase

I am writing to formally register a comprehensive and deeply disturbing complaint regarding a series of operational failures I experienced during my recent journey with your Spirit airline. On September 29, 2025, I was scheduled to fly from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Charlotte (CLT), and the events of that day were nothing short of a logistical nightmare, exacerbated by severe customer service deficiencies.Upon my arrival at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), I was immediately confronted with a perplexing and highly distressing baggage discrepancy. My primary checked suitcase, which is clearly identifiable by the name "Paulette Bowen" on its tag, was entirely absent from the baggage carousel. To compound this bewildering situation, a separate piece of luggage belonging to my traveling companion inexplicably appeared on the carousel bearing *my* name, Paulene Alcindor, on its tag. This careless and utterly baffling mislabeling not only created immediate confusion and significantly delayed our ability to locate our belongings but also served as an alarming indicator of a fundamental breakdown within your baggage handling protocols. The non-receipt of my essential personal items has caused considerable distress and inconvenience.Regrettably, the chaos surrounding the baggage incident was only one facet of a broader operational failure that day. Due to what were described as unforeseen delays and an uncommunicated gate change – issues that consumed precious time and energy as my companion and I struggled to obtain accurate information – we were, despite having completed check-in, tragically forced to miss our initially scheduled flight departing at 3:10 PM. This egregious disruption necessitated our rebooking onto a significantly later flight, an 8:05 PM departure, imposing an unwelcome and substantial five-hour delay on our travel plans. It is particularly galling to consider that my missing luggage may have inadvertently been loaded onto the earlier 3:10 PM flight to CLT without me, further illustrating a complete lack of coordination and accountability in your operations. My case was close on 10/21/25, with email stating that I should report it to my home owner’s insurance or airport security. No compensation was give.

My first and absolutely last experience with Spirit Airlines

Spirit cancelled my flight on Christmas Eve, one of the most disruptive days possible to strand a passenger. With no viable rebooking solution and no meaningful assistance offered, I was left on my own to figure out how to get back to my destination. This resulted in a last-minute replacement flight that cost nearly five times more than what I originally paid. This wasn’t a minor inconvenience but a complete failure of service at the worst possible time. What’s particularly frustrating is that I wanted to like Spirit. The planes looked modern, the brand felt fresh, and the pricing was appealing. Unfortunately, this experience made one thing painfully clear: the low price comes at the expense of reliability, accountability, and customer care.An airline’s most basic responsibility is to get passengers where they need to go. Cancelling a flight on Christmas Eve without adequate recovery options is completely unacceptable and demonstrates a total lack of concern for customers when things go wrong. Reliability is non-negotiable in this industry, and Spirit failed on the most fundamental level. This experience turned what should have been routine travel into a stressful, expensive ordeal. I will never fly Spirit Airlines again, and I strongly caution others to think twice before trusting this airline *especially* during peak/important travel periods when reliability matters most.
