Fantastic!

Strawberry Persian rescue came to my rescue when I needed to rehome my cat due to having surgery and unpredictable health and fainting fits. They were absolutely incredible and have been really good at giving me updates. And I have great faith that they will find a good lovely second home for my beautiful cat.

Very caring people

My friend went through the adoption process over Christmas. She had to answer lots of questions which is good as the rescue really care for where their rescues are going and need to make sure they have the right home. The rescue process was very easy and a week later I went with her to pick up her new addition who is a beautiful ex breeder cat who has settled in so well and just wants to be loved which she has in abundance. The rescue people were lovely, and very caring. They put their lives into helping these cats and it shows. It seems they get so many messages a day and are trying to juggle that with looking after the cats, vet visits and life in general. 😊

Strange encounter with this rescue.

I inquired a little while ago about adopting 2 indoor male cats and asked if they would be neutered (hoping that they would be as it's not a cost that I would want to be faced with unexpectedly)I was then met with some very weird resposnses, including "never been asked that before" and them going on to tell me that they Hate breeders, as if suggesting this may have been my intention. They also asked if there was any children in my house, to which I replied "no and not planning any children".They then went on to state that there can Never be any babies in the cat's lifetime and this was because the cats hate noises that babies make and was not because they might attack or harm a baby. They told me that the volunteers give up bedrooms for the cats, as if this was somehow better than having the run of a 3 bedroom house which I own.The interaction with this rescue was very bizarre, unproffessional and put me off altogether. Feel like I dodged a bullet.

Absolute abysmal contact

Absolute abysmal contact! Half the time I never got answers to my questions and when I finally could, they refused to even admit they wouldn't consider me due to my age.I did everything possible to adopt and all we got in return was silence whenever we sent the photos of the house to them, not told if they were enough or not told if they weren't enough. I feel they are a scam, I know they are not but the whole experience has left me with a bitter taste. If someone isn't what you want, you should tell them so they don't get their hopes up and continuously have to contact you just to receive radio silence!

These lovely people took on my cat who I was struggling to cope with. They have been so kind and understanding and they really do want the best for the cats. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and am so grateful for the help they gave me and my cat.

Strawberry Persian Pedigree Cat Rescue…

Strawberry Persian Pedigree Cat Rescue allowed us to adopt a cat (Pebbles) from them. She is the most beautiful, gentle, playful cat which can only be because she's been so cared for by Strawberry Cat Rescue. Our cat settled in straight away and is confident and loving. It's apparent that Strawberry has given our cat lots of love and attention while in their care. Thank you x

Amazing Pedigree Cat Rescue Everything about this rescue is…

Everything about this rescue is brilliant, from filling in adoption forms, checking me out and my vet records to ensure only the best for the beautiful cats in their care. We adopted an absolutely beautiful kitten that has an amazing nature which reflects the care this amazing rescue takes in looking after the cats in their care.

I’ve adopted cats from here

I’ve adopted cats from here. And I recently purchased a handmade Bee made by Jan to support the rescue of their animals. The hand made bee’s 🐝 absolutely adorable. Postage and packing excellent. I am more than thrilled with every contact or dealing with Strawberry Persian Rescue. And I’m totally in love with my cats and my handmade bee cat.

It's all about the cats

SHORT VERSION: I have a very happy, young cat from this organisation who would have been killed if they had not taken him in; make sure you meet the adoption requirements and be patient and it will be worth it! It's not Amazon for pedigree cats, you can’t 1-click a kitten to your door for a rock bottom price, and that clearly makes some people very angry. In the end, it’s all about the cats and what’s best for them.LONG VERSION: I adopted a cat from Strawberry Rescue because I live in a flat above the ground floor and wanted an indoor-only cat; I also didn’t want a kitten. I wasn’t fussed about having a pedigree, but moggy rescues only seemed to have cats that have experienced life outside. I already had two cats, one was a lot older than the other, and the young one was clearly annoying him by playing with him far too much. As other people have mentioned on here, the application form is very detailed and you have to send photos of your home. I had read through the adoption criteria on the Strawberry Rescue website, and was confident that I met them, but I knew that I would probably have to wait until a suitable cat became available. I could see from their Facebook page that they were really stretched and so I didn’t expect an immediate response; you do have to be patient and organisation was not always the best, I did have to repeat myself once or twice in messages. (I'd give 4.5 stars as a result but you can't do half stars on here!)It certainly did take a while, but eventually I received a phone call where a volunteer explained what cats were available that she thought would be suitable for my feline household. I had seen on the webpage a young cat that had been waiting for a long time for a home, who had been neglected and wasn’t confident with humans, but did like other cats, and I asked if he might be suitable. My existing cats are very friendly, so it didn’t matter that he wasn’t a cuddly one. The volunteer definitely managed my expectations and checked that I didn’t want one of the more friendly cats available, which shows that they were making sure that the cat’s best interests were paramount. I was also asked about my cats, their temperament, activity levels, how they got on with each other. There is never any guarantee when introducing animals to each other that they will get on, but I felt that the person I spoke to was making sure that we would have the best possible chance of the new cat getting on with my existing ones. I brought the cat home and he was as described – I barely saw him because he hid from me, but he was so happy when he finally got to meet my cats, I don’t think I’ve ever heard such joyful cat noises before! As time went on he has become more confident, sleeping on my bed and occasionally letting me stroke him. The plan worked, sort of – he is a playmate for my younger cat, but he decided he loved my older one and follows him round like a shadow, which the old one doesn’t always appreciate! I messaged the rescue a couple of times after the adoption because I was concerned that the old cat was being disturbed by his new stalker, and was given advice and reassurance. They get on fine now. The cat I adopted was rescued from severe neglect by a breeder, along with multiple other cats. I was told Strawberry Rescue took the cats other rescues didn’t want, because they were so terrified of humans and would be almost impossible to re-home. That means that without the Strawberry group, he and the 10 or so other cats would have been put down. Instead they were all re-homed, and my boy was the last of the lot. I have followed the Strawberry Facebook page for a while and seen how they take in groups of hard-to-home cats, old ones and ones with complex (and expensive) veterinary needs – and they manage to find a home for all of them, which is incredible!

Sweet!

I adopted Lula (now Luna, by granddaughters’ popular vote!) my lilac tortie BSH, last year from Strawberry. It had taken quite a while for the right ‘match’ to come up but when she did, the whole process was fairly quick once I submitted the application form and photos of my home and other 2 cats. About 6 weeks probably at a guess, which I think is about average for most rescues and in my opinion, appropriate. I am now looking to adopt another cat, as my original BBSH Soli, died soon after his 13th birthday last July. I’ve always only had indoor cats, for various reasons, so when I found Strawberry I knew they were the right organisation to adopt from and I wasn’t wrong. Lula was healthy and in great condition, easy to live with (and with my other cats) from the very start. I think it’s good that there is a rescue who specialise in rehoming indoor-only cats, as this is rare - but there are many folk who do have outside space limitations and/or other reasons why we can’t home an outgoing cat, including myself. That’s why I won’t look elsewhere for my next cat (even though I have previously looked at hundreds on other rescue sites before finding Strawberry and adopting Luna). It worked so well and so smoothly there’s no question I’ll go with Strawberry again. Thanks Strawberry!

Lovely Katy rescued by Strawberry.

I got my little cat last year from Strawberry Rescue. They were very strict about vetting me - quite rightly - and were absolutely committed to making sure that she would go to a good home. Julietta (now called Katy) had had a hard time and Strawberry Rescue made sure that she was well, and properly rested, after spaying and some heavy dentistry. Katy was so lucky to be fostered by them - and I'm very lucky indeed to have her living with me. She is a delight. I strongly recommend them.

Fabulous experience

I purchased some handmade crocheted items to support this fabulous volunteer run cat rescue. The items were well made, the transaction was easy and postage fast. To top it all they were beautifully wrapped with care and attention.

Adopted a couple of cats now - so much vet work done and they are beyond kind and caring

Adopted a few of cats now. Volunteers are amazing and you end up wanting to help. If there are delays, it can be someone has lost their dad and are arranging a funeral or volunteers having operations. People seem to expect a response like from a business of people paid to do a job. Tiny groups with no staff cannot do that. They are trying to help when can, from homes, No cattery, no office, no staff so I am not sure what is expected. Strict but cats I adopted were tested for fiv felv by an expensive blood test and nutered and vaccinated and had microchip ame with litter tray carrier, toys, scratch pad. The lovely non paid volunteers are driving around England and WAles helping cats get to a safe place in someone home who can help - be kind and patient and they are the nicest people you will ever meet. Life changing kindness. It has changed my life to have cats saved by these.

Thank goodness for the strict rehoming…

Thank goodness for the strict rehoming criteria! Strawberry go above and beyond any other rescue I have experienced to ensure the right cat goes to the right home. We have adopted 2 elderly kitties from Strawberry over the past 2 years. We had a good idea of what we were getting with each one and this baseline ensures their first few weeks in their new home was as stress free for them as it could possibly be. This allowed their true personalities to shine through and for us to learn their preferences. Pedigrees can be more work than non Pedigrees and Strawberry make it quite clear what each cat needs. If I ran a rescue, I hope it would be a good and thorough as Strawberry. The dedication of this rescue and their incredible volunteers leaves me in awe. Yes, some may see the fees as high, but all cats are vet checked and any operations needed are paid for by the rescue. These fees need to be recouped from adoption fees, generous benefactors and donations. Long may they continue as our present brood will not be the last and Strawberry will always be our choice for any elderly kitty who needs us.

MY SECOND TIME ADOPTING FROM STRAWBERRY PERSAIN PEDIGREE CAT RESCUE

I cant speak highly enough about the founders and the people that foster and dedicate their time and compassion to helping the cats that by no fault of their own require help and rehoming. These guys care deeply and put the needs of the cats first and foremost. I first adopted from them and took in a 'spicy older persain Mavis '. The lovely Sandie who was fostering her gave me good insight into her character and this helped me to understand Mavis and to let her settle into my home. I also knew SPPCR was always there if I had any issues. You dont just adopt a cat you get a strawberry family. After Mavis passed I knew when the pain of losing Mavis became that empty void in your life, I knew where to go without hesitation. I did a 7 hour round trip to collect my new adopted furry companion, as I appretiate the time and effort the founders and the volunteers do for the cats and felt this was a small way of giving back rather than relying on a transport run. As I have already said you become part of the strawberry family and I have been a part of that family nearly 9 years. Over the years I have followed the journey of many of the cats, I have watched as the rescue battles to save and heal very poorly cats who have come into their care without judgement of the previous owners. Their compassion, dedication and love for the cats is incedible. They endeavour to meet the demands of others in a world where people are quick to judge, quick to rant online or too wrapped up in being the main character. These people obviously do not understand the time and effort that goes into keeping the rescue going and only hurt these amazing dedicated people.

When we lost our first cat in October…

When we lost our first cat in October 2023, we approached Strawberry with a view to rehoming a cat with best chance of fitting in with our remaining cat. From our first email to even now, they were helpful friendly and positive. The cat they suggested has indeed fitted in really well and she is a fabulous little character, both we and our other cat are very grateful. They were open and honest about veterinary treatment she had had and were happy for her records to be transferred to our vets. We had no problems meeting their rehoming criteria, which were made clear from the start. When the time comes and we lose our old boy, we will undoubtedly come back to Strawberry.

I highly recommend Strawberry Pedigree Rescue

Both of our cats are adopted from Strawberry Pedigree Rescue. They are the loves of my life, and my husband and I love them dearly. It’s worth the 3 hours drive each way to pick them up. Fiona and Richard, who run the organisation, are genuinely passionate about their work and dedicate their lives to saving cats in need. During the application process, they made it clear that it might take some time due to being a volunteer-run organisation. They explained that volunteers devote their precious time, setting aside personal issues and illness to help. I also understand the necessity of their strict adoption rules, such as not planning to have children or not allowing outdoor access for the cats. These rules are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of the cats, as many were surrendered due to issues with previous owners having children. It would be unfair for them to experience this again. The adoption fees are acceptable as they are used to cover vet bills, neutering, and microchip fees for the cats, as well as to help contribute to the large vet bills for other elderly cats in their care or those with more severe illnesses.Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Strawberry Pedigree Rescue to others looking to adopt pedigree or indoor-only cats. Every cat deserves a chance to live a happy life in a forever home.
