I am a first time customer of Trident’s Trade -In Program. Trident’s value of my equipment was spot on what I expected. The employees that run the program are very pleasant to deal with. They are very knowledgeable in all things fly fishing. Everything is above board, no hidden fees. I for one, will be a customer for a long time.

Generally have had good experiences…

Generally have had good experiences with Trident, except for shipping speed. Don’t order a rod from them on Friday, or even sometimes Thursday, and expect to get it quickly. It won’t ship until late Monday or early Tuesday. Given the rapid nature of shipping today, this is an area they need to improve IMO, maybe others don’t care.

I saw a poor review rate for trident…

I saw a poor review rate for trident fly fishing here? I recently bought a simms rogue jacket that could not be ordered in Ireland/Europe. Went online and found trident fishing and ordered it from them. All went perfectly smooth, got it 12 days later from fedex with is ok for shipping from USA to europe, rang them about shipping and customer service was fine. I think they have a short working week but are probably fishing on days off so that’s bang on!!! Will definitely buy from them again, happy out with service and the jacket is great.

I ordered some fly tying stuff a week…

I ordered some fly tying stuff a week ago and it still hasn’t shown up. Next thing is in order to track my shipment I’ve got to download an app on my phone. Wrong answer! I’ll stick with my normal places I order stuff from now on. If they don’t have it than I’ll wait. I’ll never order anything from trident fly shop again

Terrible Service / Trade in rip off

By far the worst buying experience I’ve had in a very long time. Communication is terrible. Their trade in program is a total rip off. They reduced the trade in value of a Galvan fly reel I used once by 25% because they said the drag was sticky. When I called to ask questions about products the support person was arrogant and less than helpful. Their business hours are ridiculous and when you do order something, they are slow to ship. Buyer beware this company is destined to fail.

I was asking about fly line for my 5wt orvis battenkill rod and the customer service rep did not know it was a bamboo rod, personally how do you hire people without basic knowledge of a classic rod.

Nice website with easy ordering

Nice website with easy ordering; however worst customer support for tech support i have ever encountered. Unbelievable frustration with establishing customer account. Still not fully created. Not likely i will continue to purchase items without ability to create account and tract progress of order.

Great products. Knowledgeable and helpful staff.

Ben Freeman has done a great job with designing a premier web based fly shop. There is a very full line of products, and he and Emily Bastion are incredibly knowledgeable. Shipping is usually same day.Ben does great product reviews and shootouts. These are very helpful in winnowing down what models should be considered.In addition to her work at Trident, Emily Bastian is a passionate ecologist who continues to fight for native Maine fish species and to improve fishing for all.

First level support is great

First level support is great, but talking to a manager is terrible. Seems the GM follows a pre-determined script for her replies. Even implying that the issue is with the customer. Product and price seems great, but if this is the level of customer service to expect in the event of an issue, I'd rather shop elsewhere.

Startling behaviour

Three days after placing an order I made an e-mail inquiry about the order status and expected dispatch date. Six days later still I had received no answer and no shipping/trace notification as promised. I therefore requested the order cancelled and a confirmation to that effect, to which I received a churlish response containing no pertinent information whatsoever. I therefore repeated my request for a cancellation confirmation, to which I have still received no reply. Trident was quite happy to take a promise of payment for over a thousand dollars from me but was equally happy to forego any obligation or ethical considerations in return. As far as I'm concerned this is a flighty and delinquent company.

A Perfect outcome...

Ben and his pals at Trident came though with a new Hardy Perfect 3 1/8" to match my new Joe Bradley Parabolic 14 (7'9" for 5wt) cane rod. Communications was prompt and personable...shipping was free and in two days I had the right reel lined and on the rod and all at a very fair price. I highly recommend Trident!
