Very few providers
Very few providers, horrible customer service. I'm leaving after 3 months of trying to find providers, etc.

One of the worst customer service experiences we’ve ever had. After signing up with Wellcare, we started receiving multiple 'ghost' voicemails with no information. Even though we are on autopay, the communication has been relentless and confusing. When we called back, the offshore support was so loud and the language barrier so significant that we couldn't get a single question answered before being disconnected. It is disappointing to see a US company outsource to the point where quality and privacy are clearly compromised. Wellcare needs to do better.
I agree with the other reviewers. Web site is a disaster. Impossible to figure out where to price a drug. I have had this issue before I contacted them by email and got no response. I was on a live chat with customer service when the page disappears. I will also be conyacting Medicare.
Here is the note I sent them, just before I filed a complaint with Medicare:Hard time logging in, called talked to Carla, she couldn't help, I was on hold, tried logging in again, for about the 6th or 7th time, was able to, JUST when I was about to unlock your LOOCKED UP and HIDDEN formulary, I got logged out suddenly. I will try logging in again, after I get this note to you guys. You people need to completely re-vamp this ridiculous Mickey Mouse web site, hire a web content company that KNOWS what they're doing and start over. I've been over an hour just trying to get the formulary. Oh, and the web site that's on the card you guys sent me is NOT where I can get the formulary. I am ANGRY!!! I'm going to contact the Texas Board of Insurance about this. And I'm going to note on TrustPilot, the BBB and Consumer Reports about this situation. I'll also be contacting Medicare. They need to remove Wellcare next year. I am SO SORRY I signed up with you guys, and I will tell anyone who will listen.I checked the Tx Dept of Ins, they referred me to Medicare. I've filed my complaint there. Now on to the BBB and Consumer Reports, as well as any other entity that will listen.
Wellcare is the absolute worst in all ways!! They will deny everything, then put you through phone hell with non english speakers for hours. Stay as far away as you can!!!
Wellcare is the worst plan I’ve ever used. The representatives tell you completely opposite things from moment to moment and day by day. For the exact drug, they will tell you it is formulary, then the next day they will tell you it is not formulary. The estimations they give you for the same drug on the same day, the same dose, will vary by hundreds of dollars. Totally incompetent horrible company. Avoid at all costs.
I had CIGNA. I was told by my healthcare agent that there were two other plans that were better and less costly and one was WellCare. Before I went with them, I made sure they covered all my medication’s. It turns out the information they gave me was completely false and all my medication’s are twice as much as they were with CIGNA. I want out. It’s been a nightmare and I’m not saving money. I’m paying a lot more money.
My experience with Wellcare has revealed a fundamental failure in both product design and corporate ethics. The organization relies on a convoluted, mandatory appeal cycle that effectively offloads its internal administrative burdens onto the customer.Requiring a beneficiary to navigate high-friction bureaucratic hurdles just to receive promised services is not merely a technical oversight—it is an affront to the consumer. I firmly believe that if a product is structurally sound, it should not require a 'remodeling team' of appeals to be functional. As a professional who prioritizes integrity and functional design, I find Wellcare’s reliance on systemic friction over customer satisfaction to be unacceptable. I have officially halted all engagement with this process, as I refuse to support business models that weaponize bureaucracy against the very people they are meant to serve.
I have given Customer Service a number of opportunities to actually perform. They have failed at every chance. The agent could speak very little english. They had no idea of the plans coverage. They even told me that my converage wasnt going to change. It did a great deal. Trying to sign into your account is as crazy as it gets. Cant sign into an app, the site or get use the automated system on thier phone line. ex. had to enter my d.o.b 3 times for it to recognize me as a member. Really sad. I am sure this go around will be the last time with this company. I expect they will be denied by the Medicare and Medicaid to offer plan D. very soon.
I just started the Wellcare Advantage plan with the spendables card in January. I was so happy about the card. Wellcare agents will outright lie to get you to sign up.They will tell you that you can use the Spendables card to get-----------Healthy fruits and vegetables, fresh meatYou can buy gas for you carYou can use the card to help with rent, utilities and even internetI can't even remember what else I could use this "magical" card for. But it's lies UNLESS you have some chronic illness (like cancer), are not expected to live long, I think being in a nursing home qualifies you. In reality you ONLY get OTC items and you DON'T get a list of what you can get. You have to use the Spendables app to scan the items you'd like to get to see IF they qualify. And, guess what the app won't even open a lot of the time, freezes or keeps taking you back to sign in. And, if you can get it to work probably 90% of the items you scan do not qualify!Wellcare has one of the highest OTC amounts I saw. But, they could give you $1,000 a month OTC and it's not going to help you if you can't use it.The only reason Wellcare offers a good OTC amount is because they know there aren't enough eligible items for you to spend your Spendable balance. If I had found Trust Pilot before I signed up for Wellcare's "DISADVANTAGE" plan, I'd moved on and kept looking.
Signed up for a zero premium PDP option for prescription drug coverage. This year (2026) they raised the rate to $8.20/ month. Not awful but also not necessary. On top of that, they moved one generic drug from Tier 2 to tier 4 increasing the cost from $0 to $32.00. This particular drug is generic and produced by more than 15 companies in the US. The listed wholesale price is between .10-.50 cents per tablet. They didn't move the drug for clinical resins or acquisition cost resins. They clearly moved some drugs to a higher cost to satisfy their balance sheet. Reprehensible behavior. We will be switching plans at next open season.
I only signed up with their prescription plan for the savings. I only take 2 very cheap prescriptions. However they deduct my premium automatically from my bank account and yet keep sending me notices of non payment. Their absolutely horrid AI phone system keeps giving me different amounts and hangs up. I have never encountered such amateurish Ai. It lacks simple voice recognition. After speaking to 5 reps no one could give me an actual amount so I simply paid what I thought I owed. My card is from 2023 and no new ones ever arrive. With the few medications I take I am just going to use one of the pharmacy discounts that now exist. I will let my subscription with them run out in April. As someone else pointed out the reps can barely speak English and their reading comprehension of it is even more abysmal.
Wellcare is a scam! They will entice you to switch to them by telling you that you will get a spendables card with 180.00 added to it every month to buy groceries, gas, pay utilities and to spend pretty much however you want, THIS IS JUST A BIG LIE, They do send you a card but it will only buy what they like call over the counter items, You pick up groceries off of a counter and you lay them on a counter to pay for them but according to Wellcare they are not over the counter items, according to Wellcare in order for your spendables card to buy groceries and the other stuff they claim upfront that you can buy with you must have 2 series illnesses verified by a doctor but they have covered their bases on this also because in the beginning they have you fill out a medical questionair and if they find out that you have any type of illness then your application is denied! So like I said in the beginning WELLCARE IS NOTHING BUT A SCAM
I just started using them as a drug coverage for Medicare. January I had a small problem getting a prescription filled but they fixed it in 30 minutes. Now it is February and I had to file a complaint with Medicare for the same medicine. Wellcare decided they wanted me to do a 7 day step up for the meds then start the 30 day supply with a pre-approval first. They are the worst I have ever dealt with. RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN FROM THEM. THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
They denied coverage on three different inhalers. I called to find out why and could not get an answer. Just a s*** show. Avoid
The worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. Their website is terrible. I will not be using them next year.
Previous card was easy to pay bills, gas, shopping. The new card - you can buy headache only.
This is the worst group I have ever dealt with in my life. Today is January 23, 2025. I have yet to receive my first prescription. They have called me about every prescription. My doctor has put in. They ran me out of alprazolam which can put you into a seizure. And they still wanted to talk to my doctor as to why he prescribed what he did. Everything I do they hassle me. It takes 4 to 5 phone calls and I’ve yet to get a prescription. I had Aetna Silverscript before this insurance company talked me into switching I will go back to them as soon as I can as of now I’m quitting well care and paying cash through good RX. Just try it. All well here has is AI people who transfer you to one place to next can’t get a hold of them and they could care less if you run out of medicine I’m so disappointed in my insurance agent and this company I can’t believe represents our Medicare terrible and the people who represent them terrible
I haven't used the health insurance yet but I have questions about the spendables card. I've called twice and I think I was given the wrong information the first time bc I'm apparently not eligible for the food and gas benefit. The second time I called I was told to scan an item at the store to see if it's covered. The website doesn't give enough information to understand what is and is not covered and why. The first woman I spoke to said she was going to send me a catalog, but I think she was under the assumption I qualified for the food benefit, so if the catalog doesn't explain that, it will not do me any good. I'm still confused.
This company is about as greedy as they come! I'm retired living on a tight fixed income of social security. I've used up all my savings in this tough economic times. I depend on my cost of living adjustment each year with S.S. And this greedy company took my entire cost of living adjustment for 2026. And actually took an extra $4 per month out of my S.S. I'm now making less that I did in 2025. Unexceptionable!!!
