Can't actually use the insurance
This insurance is very very difficult to use. So difficult, that I'd say I'm not really insured and that Ambetter's claim that I am, is fraudulent. The network is very narrow, giving me limited doctors within a reasonable distance. Yet, Ambetter does not trust the doctors they chose to work with. So, getting medical issues looked at is very difficult, requiring pre-authorizations that, so far for me, have been rejected. The doctors and their offices don't seem to know how to work the system, so I am stuck just living with my injuries. It takes a long time to get anything done. I have to contact one of the few primary care doctors near me, wait for an appointment, have the doctors request tests, have those rejected, then, then...Ambetter kicked my primary care doctor out of the network! So now I have to start all over! The doctor's office said that Ambetter came out of the blue and kicked them out of the network. This disrupts my care and forces me to start the medical waiting game, diagnosis game, and fighting with the insurance company game, all over again. I called Ambetter to ask if they could give me any information as to why my PCP who I already saw is not in network anymore, and they couldn't tell me anything. The customer service representatives have no clue. I've also called their customer service representatives as to all my authorization denials, and again, they can't tell me anything. It turns out, that Ambetter doesn't even process the authorizations. They farm that out to a company called Evolent Speciality Services. I called them, and they couldn't give me any specifics, other than saying I can go through a laborious effort of trying to prove my medical issues are real and mailing all this in by snail mail. I asked them if it was worth the many hours it would take me to try to gather all these documents and imagings, and they couldn't tell me anything about my chances, or even the best way of appealing. They had no advice or information other than to mail in an appeal. I asked them a direct question for advice, and one representative's response was something like, 'uh huh, yeah'. That response makes no sense to question, showing she was not even listening. A previous Evolent representative appeared to have hung up on me, although we could have been disconnected for technical reasons. Over the last decade, I've been to doctors multiple times for my knee and bicep. I've had two rounds of physical therapy for the bicep, and even had surgery on it! The surgery doesn't seem to have worked. I haven't gone back to the original surgeon because I'm on different insurance now. The knee has been x-rayed and I've done at home physical therapy based on what a doctor gave me to do. These are real medical injuries that should be looked into and are covered by insurance if the insurance company believed their own doctors in their narrow networks that say the only way to know what's going on is an MRI. For the bicep, pre-surgery, I did about 2 months of physical therapy before that insurance company at the time finally let me get an MRI. The MRI showed that physical therapy was never going to work because the bicep was too far torn. So, I spent a lot of money, hours, gas, wear and tear on my car, and time out of work, doing physical therapy, when an MRI could have shown that was a waste of time. That was under a previous insurance company, that was also bad, but not as bad as Ambetter.

I should have check here first
I should have check here first. With a 1.2 rating with over 223 reviews is all you need to know. DO NOT SIGN UP with Ambetter Health. I was assigned a primary care provider that is a Nurse Practitioner. I have been trying to change my PCP to an internal medicine doctor since the end of Januraruy. Here it is March 11 and no where closer to changing my PCP. I had 9 calls with the reps and supervisors all with the same story. Give us 7 to 10 business days. I check and my PCP is still the Nurse Nurse Practitioner. Meantime I'm paying $700 a month. I have spoken and messages their complaint department and all i can say it's a joke. This should be illegal.

How i wish I had seen these reviews…
How i wish I had seen these reviews prior to signing up for a plan! Do NOT get any plan from Ambetter. I checked to see if one of my specialists was in-network and based my decision on that. Good crap, what a bad idea. They barely covered anything from my doctor's visit and I'm having to pay a $532.59 bill. Affordable Healthcare? Who could possibly think that??

I am a US veteran
I am a US veteran, being discharged from a rehabilitation center, I chose to get help for my ptsd and alcohol use. I wore a uniform to defend our country, to defend freedom, and freedom of speech. I am 1 wk from completing the program. I do not believe in murder, though now i understand why a ceo of an insurance co. was ambushed. I believe what bafalls any ambetter employee i will feel no empathy for them or their family members. May God take pity on such people, for noone else may.

Denied important testing
This is the worst insurance company I've ever come across. Paying $500 a month for subpar insurance and then denying me important testing that is life altering. It's disgusting. I truly hope karma visits them in the worst possible way.

If I could give negative stars I would
If I could give negative stars I would. I had Ambetter for OVER 2 years and never was billed a premium and had coverage the whole time. In January 2026 my husband got his insulin through the insurance no peoblem....In March my insurance is canceled due to NO Payment of premium and now my husband's insulin can not be given to him because we can NOT afford it...Why did it take all this time and no bills sent to us for them to cancel it? THIS IS VERY WRONG!!! YOU ARE PLAYING WITH PEOPLES HEALTH!!

NOT A GOOD INSURANCE
I’ve only had this policy for one month, and they are already denying coverage for a life-sustaining medication. I spent an entire week on the phone with them, calling multiple times a day, trying to resolve the issue. Even though I’ve paid my premium, they continue to deny my medication.Based on this experience, I would not recommend this insurance at all. If something serious happens because I cannot get the medication I need, the responsibility will be on them.

I would rate a negative 100
We have never had insurance that is such a horrible joke. We picked this one because the “in network” provider list listed one of our very important physicians as a provider. I spoke to CS about it. I had verified since they listed the provider they are supposed to give in network prices. CS told us the list had probably not been updated when we chose their company & we should have verified our physicians office accepted their insurance. #1 They knew it was time for open enrollment & the list of providers THEY list should be updated especially when it is open enrollment. #2 I should not have to verify with my physician that is their job. Personally I am tired of doing other peoples job. CS could recommend another physician in their network. No that is not an option for us. Since this is their mistake we should be able to chose another company. Extremely ANGRY!

Bah, poor navigation
Bah, wish I had seen these. Thank goodness I haven’t needed to make a claim. Terrible navigation on website- just makes me try to login and reset password over and over. Called, went through a very long phone tree only for them to say “we’re closed, call back later.” I would be happy to change this to a five star review if they change the order they tell customers that their line is actually closed, and they fix the issue with logins.

Doctors listed as being in network on…
Doctors listed as being in network on Ambetter site are NOT in network. I'm left without a doctor or accepting a nurse practitioner 30 miles away! What a scam.

My experience with Ambetter has bee frustrating!
My experience with Ambetter has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Although their website lists many doctors as “in-network,” when you actually call the clinics, they say they no longer accept this insurance or are not taking new patients with Ambetter. This wastes a tremendous amount of time and creates unnecessary stress, especially when you genuinely need medical care.Trying to find a gynecologist who truly accepts this insurance has been almost impossible. The provider directory is not updated, and customer service does not provide real solutions — they simply repeat the same outdated information from their system. As a patient, you need clarity, real access to doctors, and support — not constant obstacles. The experience has been exhausting and unreliable. I would not recommend this insurance to anyone who needs consistent or specialized medical care.

They don't care about actually helping people
I have multiple autoimmune diseases, sleep apnea, COPD, metabolic issues, insulin resistance, cardiac issues, hypothyroidism , and chronic inflammation. My doctor gave me a sample of Tirzepatide and it worked wonders on me. Tirzepatide is the only medication that helps with all the symptoms I have. My doctors specialists and primary care have all attempted to get it approved for me. Several prior auth with appeals only for it to be declined. If I had diabetes, this may not be an issue. I absolutely hate this insurance. They want you to have no hope at returning to a semi normal life. Worst coverage I've ever had.

Ambetter health of Florida is…terrible

Ambetter is terrible
Ambetter is terrible. Because they are less known than the bigger-named companies, they are not widely accepted by doctor's offices, which makes trying to find good in-network providers a pain. They raised my monthly premium by about $80, which is ridiculous and not justified by the plan details. I thought it was cool that they at least had a nice reward program, but come to find out that's just a scam too because they would not honor my rewards after I was terminated even though I exchanged them before I was terminated. The customer service is terrible, and I honestly recommend going with another company. Even if you have to pay a little more, the bigger named companies seem to have it figured out more than Ambetter and it might be that doctors trust the big names more.

Would give zero stars
Would give zero stars, but cant. Absolutely the worst customer service, Enrolled me in autorenewal without informing me, kept harassing me to use their doctor (so they could claim pre-exiting conditions in order not to pay). Ambetter would benefit from a visit from Luigi Mangione

Horrible and expensive provider
I had them prior to 2026, they were horrible, they gave my Dr the run around on every claim, the doctor finally gave up and voided the charges. Now, 2026, they are even worse than ever. I called for pharmacy support. At first, I was connected to an over seas agent who could not speak English, then when I was finally transferred, I was on hold for every question I asked while the agent contacted the back office for every question I asked. This company sucks!!

Absolutely the WORST customer service!!!
I'm sorry but this company has absolutely the worst customer service of any company that I have ever dealt with my whole life, and I am 68! Their agents have poor English, and I'm afraid to say that after talking 4 different agents, most have less than a half a brain cell. Was just trying to find out if a provider was an approved provider on their plans, and I spent almost two hours on the phone, and I'm still not sure they understood my very simple question!I have not had a drink in almost a month, but after dealing with these morons, I had to have a stiff drink!

GREED
I pay $950/month and Ambetter covers NOTHING! I am paying for all of those people who don't pay a dime yet get EVERYTHING covered! Greed will only get you to 1 place. Hell!

Complete nightmare to work with
Complete nightmare to work with. As soon as you need them to fix or adjust anything, just give up all hope and cut your losses. I spent more than three hours talking their CSR's trying to cancel my coverage due to their website being down. They never could do it, so I had to go through a charge back on my debit card. They still charged me, and cancelled my coverage.

systemic failures in its account management & billing database, posing serious risk to members.
The company appears to have systemic failures in its account management and billing database, which present a serious risk to members. My policy was incorrectly terminated early January — without any notice or warning — due to an internal error, not due to any missed or late payment on my part. I found this out only accidentally when I called Customer Service to ask when I would be receiving my new health insurance card. I spent over two hours on the phone with Ambetter representatives that day working to correct this termination. Subsequently, Ambetter erroneously initiated a refund of my very expensive premium. I contacted Ambetter immediately and was explicitly assured that the refund would be stopped. Despite this assurance, the refund was processed anyway on February 4, creating further disruption and requiring additional time and effort on my part to resolve. I called first thing February 5, begging to fully resolve this matter. Ludwing, the representative who answered my call, actually hung up on me when I asked to speak with a supervisor. I called right back and spoke to another rep who was much more professional and is trying to reinstate me.Meanwhile, the system shows I am not a current member, which translates to “not covered”! These repeated errors indicate a lack of reliable internal controls. It is foreseeable that Ambetter’s automated systems could incorrectly terminate coverage for “non-payment” when the underlying issue is a database or processing failure, not member fault. The consequences for members are significant when Ambetter’s back-end systems are not dependable. For a health insurance provider, this level of administrative failure is unacceptable. I cannot recommend AmBetter based on this terrible experience which remains unsettled.
