7th bike and counting
I have been purchasing bikes from BD for nearly 20 years. I am on my second bike and our family up to 7. Bikes range from Road, youth, to full suspension adult mountain. There has been a few issues over the years, however, every time I had a problem Larry at bikes direct was always accommodating. He doesn't question the validity of the issue, just an explanation with some details and if possible any applicable photos. The lates issues was on a full suspension mountain bike with the dropper post that would rise properly, that was just this past month. I took a short video of the issue, and Larry said he would have a replacement sent right away with a paid return postage label. I received the new dropper in less than a week and the part was even an upgrade. The new post worked perfectly. I see some low reviews given due to having to assemble the bike. BD is doing what they can to provide a more affordable bike. Partly why the local shops charge much more. Something has to give and BD has put a process together that greatly lowers the cost. This is also explained and there are videos for support and the job really is not that difficult. I think BD does a great job and I have recommended them to many.

A Snow Beast! Amazing Ride & Stellar Support from Larry
I purchased the Gravity eBullseye Monster Eagle Pro back in December, and honestly, this bike is amazing. I just finished a 10-mile ride in the snow today at the Stewart State Forest Buffer Zone in Orange County, NY, and the bike handled it perfectly. Between the mid-drive power and the studded Schwalbe Al Mighty tires I added, it’s an absolute machine in winter conditions.Beyond the performance, the support from BikesDirect has been excellent. I recently had a scare where I thought the display cable was physically too short to reach properly. I reached out to the company and got in touch with Larry. He immediately knew what the issue was. He explained that I just needed to remove the battery and pull the display cable wires toward the display to give it more slack. I followed his instructions, and it was fixed instantly.If you are looking for a serious fat tire e-bike that can handle real trails and winter weather, I highly recommend this one. Great power, great specs, and it's good to know Larry and the team have your back if you run into a snag.

My Motobecane HAL ebike was assembled incorectly at the factory. After a couple messages to Larry, he was able to diagnose the problem and help me fix it. This was my 4th bike order from BikesDirect, never a problem with my previous orders, glad there is great customer service available if someone needs it. Larry was very courteous and informative. What a great mountain bike and excellent customer service! “Santa” delivered my son’s mountain bike, but it’s steering got a little mixed up along the way!! The bicycle I bought was what I expected. Sometime when buying on line you run the risk of the product not being what is described or does not represent the product actually received. That was not the case with the bike I bought on BikesDirect. The bike is of good quality and was what I expected. There was an issue with some of the assembly instructions, as well as an issue with a warranty part. The customer service assistant Larry did a great job of helping me resolve the issues. In the end I had a bike ready to go working great. I am quite happy with my purchase from Bikes Direct.

Return/exchange is very terrible - it is difficult 2 return their products even when it is within the 30day. Also, their website does not give accurate description of bikes - you cant enlarge the pics
Order a bike on the site; the description on the site was not clear; cant enlarge the pictures to examine what I am buying. Bought a bike that I cant ride due to some unknown configuration issue that I found after delivery. They want me to pay for the return and then order my exchange which is higher price than the original one. Now I am stuck with a bite that I can not ride (over $300 wasted).

Not a bike-basically a DIY frame and parts.
The bicycle was not shipped in the condition described in the assembly video on the website (a child can put it together). What was shipped was a frame with one brake assembly and the crank installed. That's it. No cables run, meaning disk brakes had to be bled, no shifter, grips or levers on the bar, etc. Basically I received a frame with a crank and spare parts bagged and boxed. The disc brake caliper wasn't even on the wheel. Your local bike shop will charge $150+ to build it up as they should because it will take hours, and for that you could buy it locally and get service after the sale. When I contacted customer service, they said, That's the way they got it. No comment on the "so easy that a kid can do it" video explaining how they ship their bikes. "If you want to return it, you have to pay the return shipping." I have purchased from them before, but not anymore. I strongly recommend spending the extra to get something at your local bike shop.

Bikes Direct is GREAT
Great post sales service - This was the 4th bike we bought from Bikes Direct in the past 15 years. I made a headset adjustment mistake and lost the original bearings. Larry from Bikes Direct promptly replied to my email, and quickly shipped the new part. My local bike shop ineptly botched the job. Larry followed up and diagnosed the issue. He sent me a video on how to fix it. I followed the instructions and now it steers like new.

Bikes Direct is a great site for anything but e-bikes
Bikes Direct is a great site for conventional bikes, but if you want an re-bike, thin twice. My latest problem is the battery keeps falling out of the frame while riding. There's absolutely no support for the purchase of an e-bike. They told me at on point to send the bike back (at my expense) after having assembled it and tossing the box? Right. Buyer beware when purchasing an e-bike here.

Purchased an MTB ebike with Bafang…
Purchased an MTB ebike with Bafang components after the company touted Bafang products on their website. Nothing could be further from the truth. Bafang makes horrible products that Bikesdirect was very eager to sell to unknowing buyers.Soon after purchasing, the electronic display failed completely. BD sent me to a private party in California to get the part replaced. No warranty. Then the battery failed. BD does NOT make repairs and did not know any shop in my major city that works on ebikes. Bafang USA DOES NOT SERVICE OR SELL TO END USERS. Don't even bother with Bafang. It took months to find a company that services ebike batteries. Bafang batteries are sealed and had to be pried/broken apart to evaluate.They found multiple problems including failed connectors and BMS errors with imbalanced cells. $450 to make repairs Less than 100 miles of battery usage.BD asked if I want to buy a new Bafang for $599.00. SAVE your money, avoid mail order and buy a name brand high quality entrusted bicycle from a trusted seller.You'll be very very glad you did.

2018 Motobecane Hal Boost
Bought a 2018 Motobecane Hal Boost team. Bikes Direct, specifically Larry have always been SUPER helpful when needed. Put 5,000 miles on the bike and the frame cracked at the shock mount. Had a new frame within a week. Thanks Larry. Love Motobecane bikes! Love Bikes Direct!

Off The Chain
I assembled and oiled the bike as required. I rode the bike less than half a mile and the bike's chain came off the gear. I got off and noticed a cable had been torn. I moved the cables to a safe position . I assumed it was the motor that had been damagedI took it to a local bike repair guy and he said that the battery was actually the thing that was damaged. This seemed to be a mechanical defect to me but the customer service guy said that it was on me and he could sell me the battery at a discounted price of $600. I don't recommend buying from these folks go to your local bike shop instead.
