I have been a member of Book of the Month for a year now. I look forward to choosing my monthly book selection to see what the new upcoming releases are going to be talked about as well as learning of new books and authors that may have not been on my radar before.The app and website are both equally easy to navigate. When looking through each book selection you are treated to lots of details regarding the book - synopsis, member reviews, staff thoughts, etc. The cost of the subscription is pretty reasonable considering all of the books are hardcovers. Add-on books are also pretty inexpensive as well. The selection of books is usually pretty varied and has something for everyone. There hasn't been a month where I felt the need to skip because I couldn't find a book that didn't interest me. Most of the time I find more books and I have to limit myself.I haven't had an issue with my service, so I can't speak about customer service. The only thing I would improve upon is their audiobook player. I used a credit on an audiobook, but I found the experience using the player to be underwhelming. It's not as user friendly as other audiobook players and the player speed options are limited and only go up to 2.0 (I'm a 2.3-2.5 speed listener).Overall, a very pleased subscriber, and would definitely recommend to any book lover who enjoys getting the endorphins of new books on a regular basis.

Best subscription box ever! This is the best place to get a book subscription with amazing selections every month and in every genre. And even better for your first box, you get it for 5 dollars, and with a free hat of your choice. Also, I got early access to one of the romance books thanks to Book of the Month. Another pro is that this subscription only gives hardcovers of these books. To be honest, I think every book selection I've gotten from Book of the Month left me completely satisfied!

I get sooo excited for the announcement of BOTM!! BOTM has elevated my reading. So many great titles I wouldn’t have bought if not carried here. I especially love the debut authors and romance titles. But I’m very excited about the sprayed edges as well.

This is my first month
This is my first month. I ordered in January 2nd and still have not received a book. Every update the delivery date is pushed back. Went from the 12th to the 14th. Then the 18th, 22nd and today's update.... The 24th. Highly unimpressed. How do you call it book of the month if it's a possibility you don't even get your book before the month ends???

I enjoy being a part of book of the month - but struggle with the book choices. I often prefer the add ons and end up skipping as I don’t want any of the main choices. I would like it more if you had a popular author as one of the choices and then had a few new ones sprinkled in.

Scammy Subscription System
Their whole “subscription model” is such a scam. They make it nearly impossible to cancel. It wasn’t until I disputed the charges with my bank that they actually cancelled it. I never got a single thing I ordered, and the monthly book selections are disappointing to say the least. Do yourself a favor and save $20 a month by going to the library instead.

Overall positive experience but as a member for almost 10 years I’ve had good and bad. Customer service is mostly good. Any issues I’ve had has been taken care of. Pricing is good as a legacy member and add ons are reasonably priced. My only issues have been the selections month to month are mixed and I don’t like the main selections but would prefer the add on instead for my pick. I enjoy the variety but sometimes the main picks are just not great and have been disappointing as a reader.

They purposely make cancelling difficult
I tried cancelling in the app and was taken to a link where the option to cancel was not available despite using the search option. I emailed BOM to cancel and was told via multiple emails that they could not find my account using my email, mailing address, or CC information. At this point I told them I would just go through my CC to get to a back credit to get my money back. The reply to that email was that they had magically found my account using a the email I had been using the entire time and were able to carry out my request. I understand it’s a business but cancelling any subscription should not be a difficult process. I lost trust in BOM after this. It feels scammy, a process designed to string customers along in order to continue to charge them.

The monthly selections are usually great. Lately they've been pretty disappointing. I've been a member for quite a number of years and I wish we were able to pick ANY book we want if we choose to skip a month (not just a member fave because I usually have all of them or the genre available isn't my taste in books.)It's a great service and a good price but I wish we had more control over our picks. Several times I've considered canceling my subscription and just buying elsewhere because I know I'm can get exactly what I want and I'm not forced to skip or read something I know I won't be interested in.
