Avoid this company! My experience with Books Publishing Company has been profoundly disappointing from start to finish.I gave the team every opportunity to improve and raised concerns repeatedly, including escalating issues directly to the main salesperson, Ryan, who assured me things would be “handled.” Unfortunately, the standard of work showed no evidence that anything had been escalated, and Ryan proceeded to ignore all further complaint emails, even though my CRM showed they had been opened multiple times.I initially signed up with high expectations after seeing their promises of professional editing, proofing, formatting, design, and publishing support. Instead, the process was marked by repeated delays, basic editorial mistakes, missed instructions, and long stretches of silence. I had to postpone my book launch twice, causing both personal distress and reputational damage to my brand.The most upsetting part is that the original release date was chosen to honour my late grandfather, to whom the book is dedicated. Their delays meant abandoning that plan. I had already promoted the launch publicly, and having to retract everything harmed both my credibility and my audience’s trust.When I eventually raised the issue of a refund due to non-performance and breach of contract, the response was to blame me for the delays, something that is categorically false and contradicted by dozens of pages of documented communication. To give just a few examples:- I mentioned three separate times that the blurb text on the cover was repeating before it was finally addressed.- I raised issues with the contents page in five separate rounds of feedback across a period of 5 months.- I highlighted improperly formatted references in one round of feedback only to have to provide that same feedback a month later in a separate feedback round.- Errors with paragraph indentation were first raised early July and still remained in a separate feedback round in mid August.- The team took over a week to provide a revised index, which arrived completely incorrect and with a different structure from the previous approved version.- I requested timeline updates on 5 separate occasions with no response.- My emails on 3 separate occasions, including a formal complaint, were all opened but ignored.The last few points highlight how poor their communication has been throughout the process. eplies were often delayed for days or weeks, and many direct questions went unanswered entirely. Updates only appeared after I followed up multiple times, and often contradicted earlier statements. This inconsistency made it impossible to trust the process.Across the manuscript, I repeatedly provided detailed feedback, including a colour-coded document showing errors that had been flagged before, only to see the same mistakes reappear in later drafts. I had to personally correct sections of the manuscript just to keep the project moving. That is not the level of care or professionalism expected from a paid publishing service.After months of errors, delays, and ignored messages, I requested a refund, which has still not been resolved.Every company can make mistakes, but the consistent pattern here of poor quality control, unchanged errors across multiple drafts, ignored communications, and deflection of responsibility is something no author should have to endure. Especially not when the stakes are as personal as a book.Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Books Publishing Company. Authors deserve a team that is reliable, attentive, and committed to delivering the work they promise. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
