Very unhappy with their service

Very unhappy with their service. They charged over $500 for 10 printed copies of the book, then never sent them. No reply to numerous Emails and phone calls. The whole sorry process took over a year to get to this point. I will be seeing them soon in small claims court.

After three rejections from producers

After three rejections from producers, I sent my script to Kbook for a professional polish. Their screenwriting expert trimmed 20 pages of fluff, sharpened my dialogue, and even suggested a stronger opening scene. Six months later, an indie director optioned it. Still pinching myself.

Unprofessional scam artists.

I would first like to state that as a first time author I was really looking to find a publisher to help fine tune my manuscript. A company to edit and proofread my work and help me along the way. I was hopeful Kbook Publishing would be able to provide that service but unfortunately you do not get what you pay for. Now I could sit here and bash them for being a scam company who only tries to sell you more of their services when they do not even correctly complete the service you paid for. I could also express how I found myself sending several follow ups just to see if there were any updates on my manuscript. I might also add that I found myself having to reread everything they sent back because they did not proofread, or check for grammar or spelling. And I can also express that they are unprofessional and are holding my materials over my head as blackmail because I advised that I wanted a refund. Which per the NDA was my right, but they did not want to give it to me. I could also mention how I was told to "choose wisely" in my next steps via email and spoken to like a simple little woman who had no idea what I was doing. I could say all of those things and they would be 100% true. But that doesn't change the fact that this company is taking people's money with no true intention in being helpful or taking care of your work, but merely trying to sell you on the next service they won't be able to provide you. Everything they say they can do is everything you can do on your own. They do not have better access, or contacts available but they want you to believe they do. They do not care about your work, they just want your money. And when you do pay for the service like I did, their work is mediocre at best. I am grateful I had my lawyer review the NDA they sent me and make changes because what was sent was very vague and does not protect the author. Unfortunately this company does not stand by legal binding documents and will ignore timelines, due dates and hold your work over your head if you even slightly speak up for yourself and your work. They will border line harass you if you decline any of their offers. The more you decline the longer it takes for them to complete the original assignment. They even requested for my log in with Amazon that has personal tax information, saying it was the only way to publish. If they had the connections they claim to have, I wouldn't need to give out my own personal information. I was told that asking them to fix errors and make adjustments was poor writing on my end and not a reflection on their work. (They were hired to proofread and edit) I was told they were babysitting all my needs and changes when it was clear in the NDA I had every right to make those changes. Changes that were necessary to publish my manuscript. I spent more time doing what I hired them to do and when I asked for my refund I was sent one of the rudest, most unprofessional and threatening emails I have ever received. As someone who was new to this industry I can safely say they take advantage of people who do not know what they are getting into and it taught me a lot of hard lessons. Lessons that I now can avoid moving forward and I hope whoever reads this, if you are thinking of using this company. Please stop and save your money, your time, and protect your work because these people are not genuine and they do not care about the law, only how much money they can make. You are your best tool, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, all of these outlets give you the options for self publishing, you do not need Kbook publishing or their rude team to help you. Protect your work, and don't give your money to a company who is not even accredited by the BBB. Let my mistake be your guide. Ultimately I ended up publishing myself, sending email after email asking for my own cover art to be sent and now being told until I drop my charade (asking for my refund) they will not send me what I am legally obligated to. I could go on and on about how horrible it was to work with this company but they know exactly what they are. All I can say is, it's a shame there are companies like Kbook publishing out there taking advantage of creative people who have put their heart and souls into their work. As a writer, and now published author, nothing hurts more than to watch someone try to tear you down for your accomplishments because they are trying to convince you that you need them. You don't. You don't need some guy calling you to tell you that your sales aren't good enough, or to comment on how it's amazing you can put so much effort in with "noisy kids" in the background. You do not need some woman to call your frustrations "faux outrage". You don't not need someone to tell you that you will "lose badly" if you try to take legal action. Legal action that you are in the right of after they agreed to NDA terms. You don't need them, they need you. Don't let them win.

What a mess.

I tried Kbook publishing for my book, “Looking for the King.” When I sent them my manuscript it came back nicely formatted. That made it easy to find errors and correct them. Then we got to the cover art. Almost three months later I was able to get something sort of OK out of them. Their artist seems to be a graduate of the Mad Magazine/Manga School of Comic Books. Then they hit me up with other things they need from. They were legitimate. Things like a synopsis. OK, fine. But they could have told me this while we were waiting on the artwork instead of dragging it out. They were unresponsive to emails and calls. Then they wanted me to sign up and pay for their “Promotional Package.” There were several to choose from. Just send money. When I told then I first wanted to see the finished product, they sent me the FINAL edit. It was completely botched up. Sentences and conversations were run together. There were huge gaps of blank pages. “Oh, you’re not using the same program we are, but it will be fine in the final product.” Keep in mind that the first formatted copy came through with no issue. At my insistence we went through it line by line to correct it. It came back “corrected” but with the same issues in other locations. We went through it again with their “professional” editor. Same result. It was clear that unless I signed up for their marketing package, they would not correct their errors. I spent almost TEN months going back and forth with these charlatans. A friend who self published on Amazon offered to help. It was up in two weeks, nicely edited and formatted. I can’t describe just how frustrating and depressing it was to try to deal with their deliberate obstructionism. I give them a ZERO star rating.

KBook Publishing did an excellent job…

KBook Publishing did an excellent job on my book. They were patient with all my edits and suggestions, and the communication was great throughout. I appreciated their attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile to make my book exactly how I envisioned it.

Bait and Switch

Bait and Switch. I payed months ago for 10 comic book pages to be commissioned. After agonizingly going back and forth with "Randy Gibson" and "his team" refusing to follow the simplest of instructions, I finally get a subpar finished product after 4 times the promised delivery time and now "they" refuse to remove their watermark and are trying to gouge me for more money meanwhile holding my project hostage.

Incompetent and dishonest amateurs

I contacted Kbookpublishing to provide all necessary services to publish and market a Childrens book. These were the services listed on the $1,200 invoice:Editing Proofreading Formatting Book Cover designs Publishing on Amazon/Kindle ISBN registration 100% ownership rights Book distribution EBook, Paperback, Hard Cover Social Media Marketing (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) 100,000 viewership engagement guaranteed Pre-Sales booking Campaigns I provided them a rough layout. I was told that it would take “1-2 weeks max” to publish. I was contacted initially by A informing me that he would be overseeing my project. A few days later I was contacted by R who informed me that he would be overseeing my project. This was a worrying start R then asked me for my cover design. I informed him that I had paid for the cover design to be carried out by Kbook. He told me that it was “helpful to have a call to clear these matters up.” Surely reading the invoice showing the service contracted for would have been simpler? I then waited 3 weeks and after some prodding I received a replication of the initial layout I had provided. I complained and R wrote to me saying “I just went through you email and i apologize for the experience that you have experienced so far but i assure you that you complains will be catered completely”, which hardly filled me with hope as to the editing skills of the team. R then phoned and asked me what suggestions I had. I told him that I was hiring Kbook to carry out the formatting, not to seek suggestions from me. He reluctantly agreed to provide me a fully formatted version 1 week later, although he failed to explain why it would take this amount of time. At the end of the week, rather than a fully formatted version, I received 4 pages of amateur rubbish that looked like it had been prepared by a high school student of extremely modest abilities. I then informed Kbook that I had lost faith and demanded a refund, to which he failed to respond. I contacted a provider on Fiverr who carried out the needed work in 24 hours at less than a tenth of the price. As far as I can make out, Kbook’s business model consists of charging an exorbitant fee for non-existent “project management” and then outsource the work to an equally inept stable of subcontractors. This is not company to trust your work to. NB: Kbookpublishing also dishonestly refused my refund request for the $1,200 made to Paypal on the basis that the service had been provided when in truth not even one of the services had been provided.
