I got a call from a salesman by the name of Chris asking if I had question and if he could assist me. I explained to him that I was staying with my current vendor and he hung up on me. Now I see why there rating is so low. Poor customer service!!!

When I enrolled

When I enrolled, the sales representative specifically told me that my upfront payment would cover a full year of service from May to May. Only after signing up did I learn that this was not the case and that I had actually paid for a much shorter “season”—approximately seven months, not the twelve months I was promised. This was misleading and does not reflect what was communicated at the time of sale.Despite completing the service period, my lawn shows no noticeable improvement, and it looks no better than it did before TruGreen began treatments. When I called to cancel, I was informed that my service would automatically renew without any prior notice and that additional charges would begin. I never agreed to ongoing, automatic charges, nor was I informed they would occur.During my cancellation call, the representative attempted to place blame on me for the lack of results, suggesting that I should have contacted TruGreen during the season. I disagree. As a paying customer, I should not have to monitor the quality of a service I already paid for. The expectation is that TruGreen performs the job correctly the first time, without requiring the customer to follow up to ensure it is done properly. This experience has been frustrating, misleading, and far below the standard of service I was promised and expected.

We were Tru Green customers for almost…

We were Tru Green customers for almost 40 years, until this past December. Started getting calls from them that they hadn't received payment for the last treatment of the year, checked with Bank, yes check had cleared, so why the calls, when checking with the bank, they found that the check had been signed and cashed, but not by Trugreen. After a few calls to trugreen, I was told by customer service that someone associated with trugreen had stolen and cashed several checks. Noone from the company ever contacted us with this info, I had to ask for a refund, they weren't offering one. This has caused a major headache, bank accounts had to be closed, much stress, and never an explanation or apology, needless to say, no longer trust doing business with this company.

Terrible lawn service

We started the service the first guy never showed he went to the wrong house sprayed their yard and never came to redo our yard. We paid over 1700 to have our yard done front and back.. the guys that did come only sprayed the front and left after 5 minutes never touching the back yard. It was a fight to get the service cancelled. Terrible company

I worked for this company...

I worked for this company...In Canada. The men who work in the sales room are constantly sexual with the women. I am married and one of the men on the sales team ended up with a crush on me and when I rejected him, he started to act up towards me in the workplace to the point where the entire sales floor became uncomfortable. When I complained, I was made to feel like I was the person in the wrong. Like I should just let people disrespect and mistreat me at work.If you are a woman, do not work here if you are in the Ottawa area...I haven't been able to return to work since. The next year, they kept him on the sales force to harass more women and offered me severance and told me to never tell anyone. It's been years and I bet he's still working there, harassing other women and flipping out when they reject him. The manager and person who owns the place are HUGE Donald Trump supporters and once complained to me about how women were difficult to work with...They are very sexist and you should stay far away. This was back in 2018.

Never give them your contact info

Never give them your contact info. I did about 5 years ago, and I still get cold-called about 5-10 times per season to ask if I need their services. I ask each time to please remove me from any list. What an annoying, pathetic company.

Extremely poor

Extremely poor. If they put even 1/10 as much effort into your lawn as they do into selling you stuff, they would be a solid company. I have had to complain about them not treating my backyard, then when they did start treating it, there was a patch in the back yard on the side of my house that they never treated once after a year of service. They left my gate open and after they left I found my dog out in the street.Another issue is them leaving signs in your yard for advertising, If they want to advertise they should ask me or pay me, I complained after hitting it with my lawn mower (I don't see so well), they said they were required by the company to do so, they refused to stop, when I called to cancel he took 5 attempts to try to get me to reconsider and give me a discount. Its funny you don't need to call to sign up for the service; but have to call to cancel the service.I would not recommend trugreen as a lawn care provider, find a small local company that cares.

Poor results, even poorer customer service

South Florida area. I had positive results three years ago, so I tried them again this past year. My lawn actually got worse. I now have sedge and abundant goosegrass that I didn't have before, with significant patchy areas. The corporate customer service was terrible, although the local customer service was better. The technician I had for my final service was helpful, but he couldn't make up for the 8 previous, futile visits. Trying to cancel the service is not possible on the website (my app hasn't worked since I restarted the service), so now I have to call during business hours to get the hard sell and excuses just so I can cancel. Would not recommend!

WATCH for delays in services - they purposefully rescheduled until they were out of the contract and could bill me a huge amount!

TruGreen billed me for services outside the 1 year contract. The reason they gave for not performing the services during the contract period was the weather. Performing the services after the contract ended created over $300 in charges.I was informed there would be charges, I thought they were simply rescheduling to do the promised lawn care. There was absolutely no way to get beyond customer service to reach any intelligent life. They said it was in the small print that once the contract ends, it doesn't matter if Trugreen fulfilled the 7 visits during the year or not.Absolutely would NOT recommend.Plus the lawn looked no better and crab grass seems to have spread even further.HORRIBLE company.

TruGreen USED TO BE an excellent lawn…

TruGreen USED TO BE an excellent lawn service company with well trained and well equipped staff. Unfortunately, they have become a high pressure sales organization that provides a poor quality lawn service with the empty promise of a free retreatment if your not satisfied.

I contracted TrueGreen in good faith

I contracted TrueGreen in good faith, based on assurances for a better lawn. I noticed zero improvement as well as the expansion of weeds and invasive grasses after two months. My "technician" advised me that TrueGreen had no treatment for the invasive grass. He advised me to "use Roundup and then place sod". Next month, I called and asked for a service manager to take a look. I was scolded by the CSR and told I needed to follow "protocol". I asked what that was and he said..."A tech needs to evaluate if there is a problem and if so, will contact a supervisor". Next "technician" told me that the lawn was over-watered (Sprinklers ran twice a week). I showed him the weeds...he hand-sprayed those. Two months later, lawn looks even worse. Invasive grass now covering 40% and weeds still coming up around walkways. The only new grass was now turning brown and dying. Completely different "technician" advised...."That's brown root rot" WTF?? I asked him if he could treat it. He shook his head and said "Too much water". These folks have no idea what they are talking about. They are SO overwhelmed by complaints that they develop policy to ignore and hope the client doesn't cancel. I just did. It took about 20 minutes of begging to finally get them to cancel. Same old promises of attention. Nope.

If you’re thinking about using TruGreen…

If you’re thinking about using TruGreen for lawn service think again. Had a sales guy come and check the lawn he gave me a prepaid price that we agreed on, a few days later I check my statement and he went back into the system and charged me more. I called to cancel the service they offered me an even lower price than I was first quoted at so I agreed. Months go by I don’t see any improvement I called and told them what kind of grass I have they said they been using fertilizer for a different type of grass. I finally canceled with two months left on prepaid service was told I would get the remaining balance it took over a month the receive the refund and it was less than what they told me I was getting back. To make a long story short you’re lawn will look better if you take care of it yourself with less headaches

Trugreen doesn’t follow contract

I prepaid for a yearly TruGreen plan with specific services and a clear schedule. Despite that, TruGreen scheduled and completed treatments outside the agreed-upon terms—without my authorization and without notice. These off-schedule visits were then counted against my prepaid plan.On top of the scheduling problems, the results were poor. I was very disappointed in the control of dollar weed; it persisted throughout the season despite their “control” treatments.

I can’t recommend these services

I can’t recommend these services; the job was marked finished several times and after several complains online, in person, and by email they never provide me full service that I paid for. Last time, aeration service was only 1/3 of my lawn. After that I cancelled my service but now I got a due bill of over $300. This is outrageous.

Unworthy Please do not use their services-Dallas Metro- Red Oak area

Please do not use these services. I have experienced this three times within a year, where the technician signs off as completing the job but never actually shows up at my property. My lawn still has weeds, despite paying approximately $145 for treatments or services, which I believe is too much. The salesman who persuaded me to sign up—likely named Charles—told me I could call him directly to address any concerns or re-schedule services. However, despite multiple attempts to reach him, I have received no response. The only time he responded was when trying to sell me mosquito services; otherwise, my concerns have been ignored.I do not recommend using a large company like TruGreen. It’s more cost-effective and reliable to hire someone dependable who is not fraudulent.

The Trugreen Rip Off

After a so called misunderstanding about my lawn size in 2024 , I decided to give Trugreen a second chance in April 2025(BIG mistake). Steve Lindsey the person that sold me the contract said he would have to fudge the numbers to be able to give me the same price as last year. I prepaid the $614.02 for their Trucore lawn plan. After that the problems began, I had to call Steve Lindsey several times to let him known my lawn was not being serviced. The only reply he would give me was that he would look into why it wasn't being done (no help at all). So I decided to call the 1-800 customer service number. I talked to two Reps named Erica and Suri ,both were very polite and concerned about the situation and I knew there was only so much they could do so asked to meet with a supervisor. I was told Mike Watson the area supervisor would be contacting me to set up a meeting time. After finally getting in contact with him, he told me he was too busy to meet with me and would sending someone else. Imagine that too busy. A few days later I met with Quin S. who was not a supervisor and said the condition of my lawn due to lack of servicewas unacceptable and that the next two services would be free. Only one was free. I was still digging up weeds by hand in September. This company should not be in business reported to the AG,s office . J. Fowler (Boise)

Second Time Around Was Worse

I used these people 15 years ago, when it was Chem Lawn. They didn't keep their promises then, and I left them. Now they are Tru Green, so I decided to give them one more chance. My first visit was postponed twice and pushed back 11 days from the original promised date. My first treatment consisted of fertilization for my weeds, instead of weed eradication! Now after they applied granular fertilizer to my lawn, my weeds will be healthier and more profuse than ever before. I called them to complain about their deceptive business practices, and one of the managers told me what I wanted to hear, but her words were not worth 2 plug nickels. She promised that my technician would revisit my property the very next morning to address what they did not do the day before, but when tomorrow came no one was on the schedule to complete the promised work. They will go back on their word and they cannot be trusted. Their "Healthy Lawn" guarantee is a joke and so are their salespeople and managers. Stay far away from these shysters and hire some other idiot.
