I have been a HUGE VitalChoice lover…

I have been a HUGE VitalChoice lover for years! I just ordered-- 2/2026-- and am broken hearted. The frozen salmon is different (white dots down the middle? A backbone? I have no idea, haven't eaten it yet...). These new people did not save my years of ordering info, these people double-charged my credit card to make sure I was going to pay? And, I order canned salmon as a pantry staple. The old Vitacost people sent me cans with at least a year before the last-sale date. I just ordered 12 cans from the new people? They all expire in June of this year.... extremely broken-hearted that I have to go elsewhere.

Just received my first order of halibut…

Just received my first order of halibut and salmon filets today., 6 - 6 oz. of each. These pacakages have “no” explanation date. I have never had this with food or meat or especially fish. Also, it says they are located in Medford, OR but packaging references Bellingham, WA and then I find out they are owned by 1-800-flowers. So deceptive. I called customer service (in the Philippines) and they can’t even tell me the expiration date. Unbelievable.

Awful customer support

Awful customer support, and defective website with customer support chat technical issues.Customer support takes 24 hours to do anything, most likely because they are outsourced and unable to make on the spot decisions. I didn't realize 1-800-Flowers destroyed this company and brand until after I made the purchase and started getting a flood of spam (credit card offers, other website discounts).Not to mention the next day follow up from the US Based Customer Support rep, offered a discount coupon for my awful experience for the next time I order from them. They didn't even try to correct the issue I reached out to customer support for which was a coupon on their main page that would not apply during checkout.I feel scammed.

This is our long-time go-to for stocking up on delicious canned and frozen fish. The products are so good that I often send them as gifts, and they are always met with gratitude and delight. We keep coming back for the incredible taste!

Last order from Vital Choice…

Have been ordering from Vitala Choice for over 20 years. Since acquired from 1-800 flowers, Harry & David the quality and service is no longer what it was.Too bad it used to be terrific.Got a recent order and it was tough among other issues. Last order. Will never use them again.

They sell near expiration date product

Used to be a great company before they sold. Prices are high and frozen fish is great. The pantry items have awful dating. I can get 2 year dating on some grocery store tuna, but less than 3 mos from Vital Choice. They are kind enough to send you more if u call this out....but it had the same 3 mos dating, now 1 week less!! How much tuna can one eat in 3 mos? The system does not show dating. So you have no idea how long they have been sitting in the warehouse....years? Makes me wonder how old the frozen fish is? Got a smoked salmon to serve for the holidays with 15 days of dating on it. That's the kind of stuff you find on the discount shelf, not paying top dollar for.

Used to be a good product but the new ownership is a disaster. I advise avoiding this company at all costs. Switching vendors.

This used to be a great product, but the new ownership is a disaster. The supplements are worse than before (lower EPA and DHA) and cost more. My orders have been inexplicably canceled, altered, delayed, and consistently messed up. With my most recent order, I literally had to call 1-800 Flowers five different times to get their people to correct the order that they kept messing up. I finally just canceled all orders, and I will be going with another vendor. 1800flowers is an absolutely horrible company that has gutted this once great company. I advise avoiding this company at all costs.

Waited 5 months for order. Now they won't refund my money.

In the summer 2024 I ordered fish and salmon oil. It took a long time to arrive and the fish came eventually but without warning and no updated tracking. The salmon oil came a month late. Aug 2024 I reordered the salmon oil thinking it would take a month to arrive. January 2025 it still hasn't arrived and they changed my estimated arrival at the date for the fourth time. The most recent ETA was February 1, 2025. I just found out that they canceled my order January 1st but did not refund me. They claimed they already did refund me via PayPal. They are trying to keep $125 and that just stinks. I'm getting the runaround from the company. They can't prove have they refunded me. PayPal has no record of any refund from vital choice (or their parent company Harry and David or 1800Flowers) but only the initial charge from 5 months ago. PayPal is now getting the runaround from them. I would not do business with them again. Very shady business dealings. As an I'm sorry for jerking you around they offered to sell me a fruit basket for 40% off, the nerve of them!

Since the purchase of vital choice by…

Since the purchase of vital choice by 1800 flowers, it is horrible. I just called customer service which had been outsourced to the Philippines. I couldn't even hear for the loud laughing and partying going on in the back ground. I mentioned it several times. Agent seemed unconcerned. I have been ordering vital choice for 20+ years. The supplements were the best, used everyday for this 20+ years. They are no longer available. When the fish arrives because it is now shipped different it's not hard frozen. Maybe 1-800- flowers and Harry and David should have stick with that. Seriously troubled about the decline. My heart Dr. Even got on these supplements because of me. He said all the Dr. At the heart hospital we're on. I just used my last bottle and did not know they weren't selling supplements anymore. Also the fish is now from Pacific Northwest, not so much Alaska. Boo really sad about this.

The moment we walked in

The moment we walked in, we were struck by the charming decor and inviting atmosphere. We began our meal with the seafood chowder, which was rich and creamy, loaded with shrimp, clams, and tender potatoes. It was a warm hug in a bowl!For my main course, I went with the whole grilled snapper, and it was a showstopper. The fish was grilled to perfection, flaky and moist, with a deliciously crispy skin. It was served with a vibrant mango salsa and a side of jasmine rice that complemented the dish beautifully.For dessert, I indulged in the berry cobbler, which was warm and comforting, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that melted into the cobbler perfectly. I left feeling like I had just experienced a mini-vacation by the sea and can’t wait to come back!

Horrible Customer Service

I never had any issues before Harry & David purchased Vital Choice. Now, it's Horrible Customer Service!I placed an order on July 15, 2024 and paid $402.97 with the understanding that my Cases of 7.5 oz cans would arrive approximately 10/17/2024.It's now 11/17/2024 and Vital Choice has not communicated with me at all, even though they have my Phone Number and Email. If I owed them money, I guarantee they would be communicating but I guess it is not important when they already have the money.So, I called them today and the representative says " it's still on Back Order and they do not expect it until October of 2025!Yes, October 2025!When was I going to find out?Had I not called, they would have drug it on forever.How many other people are waiting like me?I got my Refund and kindly asked to be "Removed from any and everything to do with Harry & David". If this is how they do business, I want nothing to do with anything they have.There are other brands that do not take 1 year and 3 months (may be more - they were not sure as to when they would have it, that was a guesstimate.We live with all the talk of AI and Cars that drive themselves but not one can pick up a phone or email a customer to inform them of further delay?I am taking my business elsewhere.

Can't trust Vital Choice if there is a problem

I have ordered from Vital Choice for years. Ran into my first serious problem and desperately needed to speak with customer service about sending products to a different address since it did not look like they were going to make the original date. I spent almost two hours on hold before I was disconnected. During the entire hold period I had to listen to endless advertisements for other companies. In the meanwhile I was trying to use the chat function asking for help as well. The customer service person did not seem to speak or understand English very well and after quite some time she told me she had to transfer me to a specialist. I waited for a very long time for someone to come on before giving up on the chat option. Given the high price of these products, it's inexcusable that there is a complete lack of customer service when something goes wrong.

A Triple Birthday Poké Party

We had the neighbors over for a triple birthday poké party and used Vital Choice poké kitsm one with ahi tuna and the other sockeye salmon. And the crowd went wild! The party was a big success, and did I say that the neighbors are from Japan? And if the Japanese say fish is top-notch, then it's top notch! Thanks Vital Choice for making the event great!

Quality reduced dramatically since sold to 1-800-Flowers

I was a long time customer of Vital Choice and recommended Vital Choice to any who would listen. I was not happy when it was sold to 1-800-Flowers and have not purchased for some time.I placed an order for $284 on 11/7/2023: Copper River Salmon, Pacific Cod, Dungeness Crab meat and VitD3 in salmon oil. The quality was abysmal. I tried 3 packages of the Copper River, 2 of the Pacific Cod and tonight the Dungeness Crab. I have discarded all the remaining except the D3. None of it tasted fresh as it used to. It didn't smell good either.All arrived frozen solid so there was no thawing issue.BUT regarding shipping ... 4 boxes! Each item was shipped separately. The 3 frozen items in 3 separate packages. I used to get all in 1 box from WA and this came from WA and somewhere in the Mid-west. Ridiculous waste of packaging and now a terrible product.

Since 1-800 1Flowers Acquired Vital Choice...

Since Vital Choice was acquired by 1-800-Flowers there has been a noticeable decline in product quality. "Fresh fish should not smell Fishy." Never did until the company was sold.Our most recent shipment contained a package where the vacuum seal is broken.When ordering our usual quantity of salmon we used to receive 0ne box for the shipment, now $ boxes for the same quantity.

Wish that I could give zero stars

Wish that I could give zero stars! It is so sad to me that Vital Choice has sold out to a big corporate entity and is no longer the well run, small supplier of seafood that it used to be. We were regular customers. The quality is terrible and the customer service is even worse! I will now by my seafood from Northwest Wild Foods who provide reliably excellent quality and excellent customer service. The fish I ordered from Vital Choice arrived completely thawed, which was the first nightmare. The second one was trying to communicate with customer service. The person did not speak English, and was in a room full of other loud customer service agents on the phone, making it even more impossible to hear or understand her.

Quality has gone downhill

I’ve been ordering from vitachoice for quite a few years but I noticed the salmon are now various sizes and cuts not uniform at all. Some of my boxes have odd shapes and lots of tails, even the copper river king. One box of Chilean sea bass had some other type of fish mixed in! Granted they replaced the order but it’s become a hassle and I never know what I’m really going to get. I plan to order my salmon and sea bass from someone else. Very disappointed in what used to be a very reliable source of seafood!
